Hi Tuteate. I love your work that you do on the loom! I love this hat so pretty ! Just in time for the holidays, I will make and give as gifts. Merry Christmas and God bless
Thank you so VERY much for this brilliant tutorial! It is clear, well lit, and peaceful. I am excited to try this new pattern. I just finished another hat from one of your other tutorial videos, and it came out beautifully. I am so grateful to you for sharing! :)
Thanks for the video. I’ll be trying this soon. By the way, the knot you used to connect two lengths of yarn is called the square knot, or less commonly, the reef knot. As a Boy Scout and climbing and rappelling instructor who happens to enjoy making beanies, I recommend using the sheet bend to connect two lengths of yarn. It is stronger than the square knot and can be used to connect two different sizes together as well, if desired. Thanks again!
the way you cast on is by far the easiest way to do it! instead of e-wrapping all the way around then doing it again, just doing 2 wraps on each peg takes care of it! Love it Thank you!!
Thank you so much Mkayah! Everything is well and I'm also so glad to be knitting again and sharing new videos! Hope you enjoy this project!! Keep in touch ^_^
I followed the whole tutorial exactly as you did it. It did not come out in a spiral or the zig zag pattern. Mine is in a checkerboard style. What went wrong?
Hi! Yes, on a 36-peg loom you can work repeating "Knit 3 - Purl 2" for 10 rounds in one direction and "Purl 2 - Knit 3" for 10 rounds in the opposite direction. You can find this project's written pattern, including all the written instructions and useful extra information, available in English and Spanish here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/easy-zigzag-hat
Thank you for making an English version of this video just started to loom and looking for project to do and most of the cool patterns are in another language which makes it difficult to do so thanks again 😊
I am getting SOOOO frustrated! I have tried this tutorial TWICE, once with Xlarge loom that is suggested which turned out HUGE using 6 weighted yarn and then with xlarge loom with 5 weighted yarn and again HUGE!! I don't know what is going on but I am wasting tons of time and cost of yarn. Are my looms defective and larger than everyone else's? Can someone measure around their Xlarge looms and large looms and tell me the correct measurement? Those that have actually done this and they turned out? Then I tried this in a large loom and got the rim done, 3 rows of the body and the darn thing got off one stich, couldn't fix and ended up unraveling the body and part of rim. I couldn't get the rim back on the loom so wasted another 2 hours of work and beutiful yarn that I don't have enough of left to make a rim with. I am new to looming and am about ready to give up. :(
Hi! Thank you for sharing this. I’m gonna try to make one. I just have one question: what video editor did you use to make this video. I’m a kinder teacher, so I’m looking for all the resources out there. Thank you.
I have a maroon yarn I would like to try this with.. I’m wondering if I should attempt it-the yarn weight is 4 . I wonder if using that weight yarn would ruin the project entirely… Thoughts?
Help please. I have made the zigzag with the bigger loom. Now I want to make another but for my son on a 38 round peg loom. What changes do I need to do, please.
Ugh got half way through my hat and noticed there was no pattern or spiral! Turns out this only works on ODD number of pegs unless you do knit 3 purl 3! Ugh 😑 debating if I should start over or finish this hat. I’m using 50 dollar yarn a ball. Alpaca bulky hand woven and hand dyed
I loved making this hat. It came out looking great! Do you also do knitting tutorials? I want to learn how to knit with needles and your loom videos are so easy to follow, I'm hoping you do do knitting tutorials as well.
Hi Brianda! The pattern of the video works on looms with a number of pegs multiple of 4 + 1 (such as a 41-peg loom). On a 40-peg loom (or looms with a number of pegs multiple of 3 + 1) work repeating "E-wrap Knit 1, Purl 2" for 6 rounds in one direction and then "Purl 2, EWK 1" for 6 rounds to the opposite direction. More info and details here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/easy-zigzag-hat
Love to knit buy the one thing that bugs me about tutorials is that you have one layer they have one lay3r screen blks out THEY SUDDRNLY HAVE 50 LAYERS ME OVER HERE WONSERS WHAT I'M SUPPOSED TO DO?
Thank you :) On a 40-peg loom work repeating "E-wrap Knit 1, Purl 2" for 6 rounds in one direction and then "Purl 2, EWK 1" for 6 rounds to the opposite direction. More info and details here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/easy-zigzag-hat
So, I am a pass time crocheter, I love to crochet to relax and not really count. The loom is good for that. But with this pattern we count every 8 rows then switch. Could you do a short and show us how to count these rows. I know it seems so simple to just see the stitches but I'm not sure I'm counting them correctly, seeing as some of the stitches over lap in a criss-cross. Also, does the first row after the brim join,, the first knit 2 purl 2 row, does that count as the row 1, in the 1-8. Or you start counting after that. I've lost it in the brim . Lol. Thanks. So far I loving learning all these new ways to use the loom!!
I dont understand what I am doing wrong. I ahve watched the video 3 times, making a hat each time, but all of them have had all of the stiches come out straight... Its not zig zag. Do you have any idea what im doing wrong or what I am missing?
Tuteate I’m using the kB 72 peg loom what would be the pattern that I use? As I tried knit 6, purl 4 for 8 rows then purl 4, and knit 6 but it ended at the same stitch I started at any help would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance
I love this pattern. I first was going to do it but then did a much more simplier one because I was loom knitting for the first time and decided that I needed to stick to only knit and not switch back and forth between knit and purl and just get use to knitting first. I am going to make a friend a hat and want it to have a pattern now. So here I go now that I know how to loom knit now.😊
Thank you for this. I’ve only made a pair of socks before. This tutorial was brilliant. I made this for hubby and loves it huge thank you. Off to find something else to make.
Is there a reason you didn't use the starter peg or can I use that to begin? Also, can I wrap the loom twice and then pull each loop over the top loop to cast on, or is this a different stitch?
Hey there friend I love your work and learning new patterns/ stitches but I noticed that your left handed is it the same in both directions? I'm wondering if it will make a difference in my work ?
Excellent tutorial!!! I'm thinking about buying a loom and this video is a great intro! I really like the soft music in the background with the subtitles. Very helpful format!
@jhk1503 I may have gotten distracted and started another hat on a different loom, but after coming back to this pattern, it seems to be working out just fine.
This is the first time I’ve watched one of your videos. It’s wonderful! You’ve done everything right. You explain the pattern clearly, you demonstrate the stitches nicely, your lighting is perfect & even the music is wonderful! At the end, you have a lovely hat. I’m excited to try this pattern. Thank you for your work. New subscriber!

Hi Ailadi! You can work starting to the right, it doesn't mind :) (however, you will see this pattern is made working some rounds to the right and some rounds to the left)
Hi Veola! The 41-peg loom of your knifty knitter set should be the same... But, if you choose a different loom, check the number of pegs. The instructions of this video work fine for looms with a number of pegs multiple of 4 + 1...
Hello! Quick question, I am trying to find a 41 peg loom, but I can’t find a nice one like this one. If you don’t mind me asking what brand are you using? Would the spacing be the same or different as the others. I feel like these look smaller. Thank you!
Hi Dayana! My 41-peg loom came in a set of 4 looms similar to the ones you will find here: www.amazon.com/shop/tuteate I don't remember the name of the brand I use, sorry
I love your tutorial I had a question when you switch sides and leave the second loop, afterward what do you do, do you knit. Off? Like being the bottom to the top?
Hi! This pattern works in rounds, so if you do this on a infinity loom you would get a "tube" blanket. I would recommend you this other tutorial for a blanket: ruclips.net/video/pZVV3R6S9hQ/видео.html (it needs a number of pegs multiple of 4 + 2)
So happy that You are back, looking forward to many tutorials on stuff for babies, kids and adults and maybe interior designs. Remember to write how much yarn is used or need for the tutorial.. I can see bulky yarn but how much in meters and gram
Hi Gillian! Yes, sure, you can work it with less rounds. Just make sure, in case you are also planning to use a different loom, your loom has a number of pegs multiple of 4 + 1

Yes! I feel like it went by and worked up way faster than the regular beginner way.
This is an excellent video, I just started to learn the loom. Your videos are easy & pleasant to watch, thanks for sharing. New subbie here!
Thank you so much for your kind words & welcome to the channel!! ^_^

Jena mine are 14 cm, 19 cm, 24 cm, 29 cm diameter. The hat made on the one of 29 cm is slightly loose but acceptable. Yarn 6.
There is no need to waste yarn, just unknit and make a new ball.
I made a hat on the 41 peg loom once and I dont think there is a human around with a head that big. I used bulky yarn too!
Gracias por ayudar a mi hija te lo agradezco mucho 😊😊😅
To make this zig zag does it have to be an uneven peg loom? My loom has 40 pegs not 41, will it be the same?
Hi! Thank you for sharing this. I’m gonna try to make one. I just have one question: what video editor did you use to make this video. I’m a kinder teacher, so I’m looking for all the resources out there. Thank you.

The same thing happened to me 🙄
I have undone mine 3 times. Bought the pattern too. Went in the bin tonight!!

I was wondering that, makes sense. 3 and 3 works for 36 pegs? Prolly not since that's still even...

Can this pattern be done on a 40 peg loom?
You can do Knit 3 - Purl 2 then Purl 2 - Knit 3 in the opposite direction for an even-numbered loom.
I have done a few hats with the loom but I started to the right direction, is it tutorial for left handed people? Or is it the same if I do it to the right direction? Thanks !
Hi Ailadi! You can work starting to the right, it doesn't mind :) (however, you will see this pattern is made working some rounds to the right and some rounds to the left)
I don't have an XL gauge loom. I have the knifty knitter set. Your pegs look much further apart. Can this be done on a smaller gauge loom?
Hi Veola! The 41-peg loom of your knifty knitter set should be the same... But, if you choose a different loom, check the number of pegs. The instructions of this video work fine for looms with a number of pegs multiple of 4 + 1...
Combien de cm faut-il pour 10 et 12 ans? combien de picots?

Is it possible to make smaller zigzags by going 4 rounds and changing directions instead of 8?
Yes! It is :)
Is there a pattern for a scarf to match this hat.
