  • This step-by-step tutorial shows you how to knit a super simple spiral / swirl patterned hat using a round loom. If you have never loom knitted before, this project is perfect for you! And if you are already a loom knitter, this video tutorial may help you guide your family and friends on how to start with your beloved hobby.
    In this tutorial you will learn:
    - How to start your hat (how to cast on stitches on the loom)
    - How to knit the first part of your hat (how to work e-wrap knit stitches)
    - How to fold and make the brim of the hat directly on the loom
    - How to skip stitches with yarn in front
    - How to work the easy spiral of your hat (how to work a pattern)
    - How to take your work out of the loom and close the hat (how to bind off)
    Index of Contents:
    [00:00] - Introduction
    [00:52] - Casting on
    [02:26] - Knitting the hat's brim
    [04:14] - Folding the brim
    [06:38] - Knitting the hat's body
    [11:01] - Binding off
    LOOM: The loom I use in this project is a 41-peg XL gauge round loom, because I wanted to make an adult-size hat. If you want to make a preemie or newborn hat, I suggest you to use the 24-peg round loom. If you want to make a baby hat, then you better use the 31-peg loom. And use the 36-peg loom for children and teenagers.
    YARN: The yarn I use here is a bulky weight yarn (size #5). If your thread is thinner than mine (a medium weight yarn), I recommend you to use 2 strands at the same time. For this project, I used 125g (4.4Oz) approx. of a yarn called Phildar Rapido.

    I’m a beginner and this is my 4th hat. So easy to do with your video. Thanks! I like the trick to get the yarn behind the pins on the two stitches...I took a tiny step further and prepped both pins then only single pull. Idk how some ppl gave thumbs down. I enjoyed ☺️

    My large loom is 40 pegs. If I knit 3, skip 3 - will I get the same results?
    Edit: Found the answer! On an older comment Tuteate wrote that the alteration for a 40 peg loom is “Wrap&knit 2 - skip 1”

    • @Tuteate
      @Tuteate  3 года назад +2

      Hi Noraida! In your case you have a number of pegs multiple of 7 - 1, so I would recommend you to repeat "4 ewrap knits - 3 skip wyif" or "5 ewrap-knits - 2 skip wyif" (instead of the pattern shown in the video).

    • @noraidalauro7339
      @noraidalauro7339 3 года назад

      Tuteate thank you so much for your quick response. I actually had a regular plastic set so I am using the 41 peg with a thicker yarn because the gauge is 3/4”. I was trying to use my CinDwood looms which are all “even” number pegs. So I will finish the one I am working on now then use your recommendation of the adjusted count on my 5/8” or 1/2” gauge looms with #5 or #4 weight yarns. Stay safe & well.

    • @noraidalauro7339
      @noraidalauro7339 3 года назад

    What if my loom is 40 pegs?

      Hi Rachel! In your case, instead of working "3 e-wrap knits - 2 skip wyif", you should work "2 e-wrap knits - 1 skip wyif" :)

    Can this pattern be made into a blanket minus the brim?

      Hi Brenda! Here I showed how to work in the round. To work a similar pattern in flat panel, I would recommed you this other project: ruclips.net/video/pZVV3R6S9hQ/видео.html

    How does this work with loops being skipped? It makes the project uneven.
