@fanat_8CY I think theres no place to talk about ukr. This is a song with incredible depth in terms of lyrics, in a special way. At first the song is sentencing/illuminating our (!) system. "Do the people in (for example) India really need coke? Are they really happier? Whats about disney in Paris? Is this cultural? Are the "monks" in orange happy to eat this macdonalds ****? And at the end you will rlly go to war to protect coca cola? Look this video one more time.....

"Vor Paris steht Mickey Mouse" is such a great line. A rare case of a pun in German.
It used a take on a phrase from military history, which probably is best expressed in English as "Mickey Mouse is at the gates of Paris".
Warscheinlich war es eher eine Referenz zu Disneyland in Paris und Dysney land überall vorkommt.

To get the effect of lower gravity on the moon they played the song on double speed and everybody had to play their instruments / sing / act to it in double speed, too. Then they slowed it back down to normal speed. What a workout!!

This is one of my favorite lines in any songs. A rare case of a pun in German.

Interesting take on the video. I've always felt like the ending meant to make fun of 'moon landing conspiracies'. They enumerate countless effects the US had on the rest of the world. Conspiracy theories are (like the viral ones) are definitly part of that.

This came out early during the Iraq War. Opinions about America and American interventionism was extremely controversial at that time in Germany.
This song nicely points out how much of that is cherry picking, with most of Europe being absolutely more than happy to embrace 90% of the influence of American culture.

I don't think this song is entirely about America, but more about a conglomerate western culture pushing its way east and beyond (all the members of Rammstein were born in East Germany). However, I'm American, and might be being optimistic. But this country is kind of the hub of that influence. Not bad or good I guess, it just happens. EDIT: Also, Rammstein got me through high school. Absolutely love them. They're the reason I took German in college, and am sort of semi-conversational in it! Legends.
you are not wrong, this "final" version of the song is about cultural imperialism in general, and the USA are simply a very nice symbol of that. but at the very beginning of this songs creative process, it was a very positioned expression against the Iraq war - so positioned that they themselves dished that stance/idea, since that is very much against their more omnidirectional/neutral perspectives on the themes of their songs and they didn't want to alienate a possible audience
It's very much about America and not only cultural, but also political influence.
Yes, but the US very much so deliberatly spread it's culture and ideals post WW2, the Truman Aid carried with it a lot of culture and other influences that are still seen in the world today.

A joke about that sentence, that will be lost in translation is, wenn germans say that "someone is standing in front of a city", that is meant in a warmongering way, that this someone is laying siege to it.
So the gag of the sentence is, that Mickey Mouse is besieging Paris.

This song came out in the wake of the Iraq War of 2003. There was a very strong anti-American sentiment in Germany at the time because the war was seen as unjust and the Americans as warmongers.

“Amerika” sounds on the face of it, to be a satirical commentary on Americanization and the misconceptions foreigners, and possibly some Americans, have about the American utopia. Pizza, Coca Cola and other stereotypical elements associated with America. Of course, we all know that isn’t true.(🤪🤪) Another Rammstein masterpiece dealing with matters political via their tongue in cheek approach. Sabina, your initial smile suggested to me that you had worked out the parody element within seconds of the song starting…blimey, I’m starting to read you like a book…loved it.
