@@annemarel The U.K. set up is a lot less convoluted…artists/managers/record labels will send songs to a radio station in the hope that it will be placed on a station playlist. These days with streaming etc, the process is probably different…with the artist at the forefront of the process. Dimash has a huge following, which in itself is self promoting without the need maybe to approach radio stations. It seems fair to say that Dimash is in control of his own destiny in terms of promotion.

A great storyteller and paradigm breaker!
Anyone who watched the video, made by a fan with his cell phone, of Dimash's show in Hong Kong, had the pleasure of a first contact with the song “When I've Got You” and realized, in Dimash's own music and in the lyrics by Candice Kelly and Dmytro Gordon, a romantic, seductive and passionate song sung with Dimash's own virtuosity. There was tension and anxiety in being able to watch the studio version with better sound quality...
Now, with the release of this music video, we realize how creative Dimash is:
A suspense video with a “noir” atmosphere, but without being located in the past, and a tale of passion about a supernatural creature who feels alone and needs to fulfill his passion for a mortal woman who suffers for wanting and not wanting turn her into one of his supernatural creatures.
Iskander Yerbolat's plot intrigues us to solve the mystery of the entire tale being a dream of a journalist who interviews “DQ”, or being a reality where the “vampire” did not bite his “prey” out of love! Intriguing...
The video is a show in itself: Desaturated with vivid red details (umbrella, blood in the hands, blood in the pool, advertising sign, neon on the mirror...), a classic Rolls Royce, a gloomy and modern mansion and lots of details.
As background music, he uses the work “Flower Duet” (Lakimé) by Léo Delibes. To create an old and suspenseful atmosphere, he does not use the 1968 edition and recording, by Joan Sutherland and Jane Berbié, but rather the original version from 1915, sung by Alexandrovna Mikhailova and Ivanovna Panina, recorded with a gramophone!
The music video is a story that pays homage to several classic dramas involving supernatural creatures and passion! The impeccable editing with precise cuts that complete the script, simple and extremely efficient effects and masterful performances: Dimash (the seductive and tormented vampire, Polina Guzieva (the passionate journalist), Manuel de Jesús Sánchez Sotolongo (the sinister butler) and the harem of soulless vampires (Angelin Sapozhnikova, Valeriya Lyasheva, Andreana Tkachenko, Maria Aristatarkhova, Lilia Kiser and Klinnyushina Alina), superb!
The music is a show in itself: a mix of Blue, Scat, Jazz, R&B, Rock... Dimash artistically plays with our memories. The recording is Interview with a Vampire. DK's hair and outfit is a takeoff of Michael Jackson's Thriller. And for those old folks the butler is like Lurch from the Adams Family TV show where snapping of the fingers was part of the parody. Remember Dimash went to the USA to study production in staging like camera angles to enhance his performances. He was sassy and sexy without being campy which drew you in. Thank you for the treat... now vamp yourself to Istanbul. We miss Henri, too.

Mi presento, sono un musicista professionista session man italiano e lavoro nelle TV più importanti d'Italia come bassista oltre a suonare con artisti di grosso calibro, premesso ciò spendo due righe per questo brano su alcune cose che nelle reazioni non ho sentito ma ho notato, qui Dimash accantona completamente la sua formazione operistica, il brano è composto da lui quindi prevedo un'evoluzione verso il pop-dark-rock ma di certo non lascerà indietro assolutamente la sua formazione operistica, altra cosa che ho notato che nelle reazioni non è stata detta è che dopo il bridge spazia in un ritornello molto simile ad Elvis Prisley infatti nel live della canzone ha un look come lui, l'arrangiamento è tipico anni 80 con questo basso synt-distorto che ricorda Personal Jesus dei Depeche Mode e un rullante sicuramente Dixson molto stretto, l'assolo molto bello del chitarrista che in questo momento non ricordo il nome è molto anni 80, si sente benissimo che è stato realizzato con una Fender Stratocaster anni 80, il sound è inconfondibile, l'ultima cosa che non si è notata nelle reazioni che il produttore è il padre di Dimash pertanto egli apprezza la via che sta prendendo il figlio, nei vari contest è emersa la sua tecnica e mi sa che lo ha fatto di proposito, poi da Stranger in poi si è dato al rock-pop poichè non bisogna dimenticare anche in Stranger la nota finale che ricorda Ian Gillan in 'Getsemani'' nel musical Jesus Christ Superstar quindi Dimash teatralizza le sue canzoni ed anche dal vivo ha palchi e coreografie preparate minuziosamente

On February 26, 2024 in Istanbul, Dimash Qudaibergen presented a music video for a new work “When I’ve got you”. The premiere took place as part of a press conference held by the artist in connection with his upcoming solo concert in Turkiye.
The main idea of the clip belongs to Dimash and the MV’s director Galym Asylov: “A world-famous artist, who leads a very private lifestyle, decided to give his first open interview. The young journalist chosen by him goes to the meeting in great excitement, immensely worried and tormented by the question: “What if?…”. The woman’s vivid imagination suggests a mysterious image of the main character and plunges her into a mystical story.
“Everyone knows that Dimash is a kind and simple person. Not much is known about his personal life, he does not often appear in the media space and does not give particularly personal interviews. We wanted to present the artist from a slightly different side, in a “book”, fictionalized image”, - shared the director.
Galym Assylov and Zhanibek Gusmanov - the second director of the project and line producer say that the shooting process was very interesting, it took place in Almaty. A creative team of more than 70 people worked on the clip with the involvement of specialists from China. It was there that the costume of the main character was sewn and together with Kazakhstan specialists created the whole image of the artist.
The casting was not simple enough: many actresses and models were tried for the role of the main character and other characters. Three locations were used in the clip, and the search for ancient culture was not an easy task. In a creative atmosphere, a large international team tried to create a mysterious story in every element of the interior, in every detail of the costume, in every frame.
The composition itself was written by Dimash. The author of the lyrics was Candice Kelly. The co-writer of the lyrics, co-producer, orchestrator and arranger was Dmytro Gordon.
“Working with Dimash is a dream for many, and I felt extremely honored and privileged that he has entrusted me to work on this song with him. It felt like a great responsibility, as “When I’ve Got You” was a step into a new direction for Dimash as an artist, and it was also something different for his core audience. Dimash told me that for some time, he wanted a track on the verge of blues, jazz, rock, and r&b, and my suggestion was to make it sound fresh and edgy - something raw but beautiful, something truly unexpected. That has resulted in a blend of some heavy drums, electric guitars and piano together with the orchestra, synthesizers, harmonica, and even a choir. We wanted the song to sound groovy, cinematic, epic, and bold. No holding back!,” shared Dmytro Gordon. (Dimash News)

Dimash is doing everything to please everyone in the entire World. The Western part of the world have a problem because they want him to sing songs like the Western Culture does. So he’s changing a little to accommodate everyone. He wants to do another concert in America but they won’t let him because his music doesn’t sound like everybody else’s which I think is a shame. Yeah, I bop my head to the beat of some Westerners song only because the band moves me. There are in my opinion very few American singers who can sing. Some have gotten better but no one has been professionally trained for 25 years. Dimash put in the work and he works hard every day of the week.
I believe the changes in some of his newer songs are created only to please Western’s.
He’s Dr. Kudiabergen not just Dimash. He’s the only singer that I listen to. I do housework while playing American music so I don’t have to listen to the poor microphone techniques, heavy breathing, straining to get a note out, watching women half naked shaking their asses. I just listen to the band but I want to watch and listen to Dimash.
I’m almost 67 and have been following him since he first appeared on what he calls “the adult stage” in China at age 22. He will be 30 on May 24th so don’t forget to wish him a Happy Birthday. He’s the type of person that we all should be like. Great reaction as always. Thank you.
