Dimash absolutely blew me away with this one -- he's truly inhuman (get it?)! FYI I've fought tooth and nail with copyright (to the point of personally contacting the legal team), and I was able to get this obscured version up and monetized. HOWEVER, I will be sharing the non-obscured version to my Patreon community for those that are interested! I love and appreciate you all -- please enjoy this amazing music video from one of the world's greatest vocalists :]
I'm loving the pancake dealer t-shirt 🤣 Dimash was living in LA when he wrote both this and Smoke and was introduced to an American team by Walter Afanasieff when they were working on Love Is Not Over Yet. So the lyrics were written by an American lyricist. Personally although his English has improved drastically, I hope he never loses that accent, it's what makes him special. I've heard so many foreign singers adopt that fake American accent when singing and in my opinion it just makes them run of the mill and generic. He's been working on that lower range for the last couple of years. It's really deep and full and resonant now, he's also cutting out a lot of what's been referred to as his "circus tricks" which were so promoted by Igor Krutoy. Although he can obviously still hit those notes, now they're just little decorations amongst the wider dynamics of the song and he's exploring and mixing different genres. Dueting with Chante Moore, they did an epic cover of Teddy Swims Lose Control. Sung completely live on Singer 2024 they played off each other so well that I actually prefer their version and I'm not a lover of cover versions usually.
On the low part there are definitly harmonizations with himself, doesnt diminish from the fact that he can do each Note individually pretty easily, but uts done at the same time, so it does require backtrack For the side notes.
As others have replied, there's definitely a backtrack during the lows, as Peter pointed out, and to me the backtrack doesn't sound like Dimash (although I don't really know, and it could be). Even if he's harmonizing with another vocalist, it takes away nothing from Dimash, as we know he can go that low.
If Dimash only sang in languages he was "comfortable in" we wouldn't have a large chunk of his catalogue, considering he has either recorded and/or performed live in over a dozen languages! I think that's part of what makes Dimash excellent and incredibly unique; he wants to show the world that it doesn't matter where you are from or what languages you speak, music connects us all! For me, I love his accent and I wouldn't love his music nearly as much if he 'sounded American'. We have enough artists in the world who ditch their accents in their music to try and gain a broader market but it removes part of what makes them different from everything else out there Dimash will not sacrifice his identity to gain fans. It's part of what makes him who he is. He has a LOT of original work including many gorgeous songs in his native Kazakh. Many of them have music videos as well as live performances which you can find on his RUclips channel. His MVs always have high production value, I HIGHLY recommend them. The concepts in them are all his and they are just another way that he shows us how well-rounded he is as a multi-faceted artist. Great examples in Kazakh include "OMIR" (there's a beautiful MV as well as an acoustic version he played with his brother), "Qairan Elim", "Kieli Meken", "Akkuym", "Maxabbat ber Magan"... I really could go on and on! Definitely check them out! Love from Oregon!
Wonderful reaction Peter! Thank you for this. ❤️ Dimash keeps developing his lower register and can sing those low notes more easily with every performance - seems like. 😊❤ Can’t wait for you to check out more! 😊 Like: - *El Amor En Ti* (Spanish, classical-crossover + Pop, very unique song) - *Smoke* (English, same team as When I‘ve Got You, Electronic, Folk, Pop + crazy soprano-high notes) - *You Raise Me Up* (English, a very short cover with a children’s choir, so he held back, but he still manages to build this perfectly) - *Angel Love* (Kazakh, the newest one and it’s very quiet, but still very dynamic and emotional) - Any other song! All are great 😅
Dimash is a genius! A great storyteller and paradigm breaker! Anyone who watched the video, made by a fan with his cell phone, of Dimash's show in Hong Kong, had the pleasure of a first contact with the song “When I've Got You” and realized, in Dimash's own music and in the lyrics by Candice Kelly and Dmytro Gordon, a romantic, seductive and passionate song sung with Dimash's own virtuosity. There was tension and anxiety in being able to watch the studio version with better sound quality... Now, with the release of this music video, we realize how creative Dimash is: A suspense video with a “noir” atmosphere, but without being located in the past, and a tale of passion about a supernatural creature who feels alone and needs to fulfill his passion for a mortal woman who suffers for wanting and not wanting turn her into one of his supernatural creatures. Iskander Yerbolat's plot intrigues us to solve the mystery of the entire tale being a dream of a journalist who interviews “DQ”, or being a reality where the “vampire” did not bite his “prey” out of love! Intriguing... The video is a show in itself: Desaturated with vivid red details (umbrella, blood in the hands, blood in the pool, advertising sign, neon on the mirror...), a classic Rolls Royce, a gloomy and modern mansion and lots of details. As background music, he uses the work “Flower Duet” (Lakimé) by Léo Delibes. To create an old and suspenseful atmosphere, he does not use the 1968 edition and recording, by Joan Sutherland and Jane Berbié, but rather the original version from 1915, sung by Alexandrovna Mikhailova and Ivanovna Panina, recorded with a gramophone! The music video is a story that pays homage to several classic dramas involving supernatural creatures and passion! The impeccable editing with precise cuts that complete the script, simple and extremely efficient effects and masterful performances: Dimash (the seductive and tormented vampire, Polina Guzieva (the passionate journalist), Manuel de Jesús Sánchez Sotolongo (the sinister butler) and the harem of soulless vampires (Angelin Sapozhnikova, Valeriya Lyasheva, Andreana Tkachenko, Maria Aristatarkhova, Lilia Kiser and Klinnyushina Alina), superb! The music is a show in itself: a mix of Blue, Scat, Jazz, R&B, Rock... Captivating variations: a bridge to the chorus full of strength and seduction and a beautiful chorus inspired by classic rock and dexterity and Dimash's agility! In addition to the well-placed guitar solo performed by Abik Jeksen! The video captures and captivates from the beginning to the sign, which we let pass while still mesmerized by the “spell” of the vampire who can break the fourth wall! A giant, masterful, modern work that makes you want to watch it several times! 1000 out of 10! Hugs from a Brazilian!
Grande beijo do Brasil 😘❤️🇧🇷
Thank you. 'The Flower Duet' from the tragic opera 'Lakme' composed by Leo Delibes, recording is from 1915. The soprano is Maria Alexandrovna Mikhailova ( 1864 -1943) and the mezzo soprando is Antonina Ivanovna Panina (1870 -1941). This is superb! The video is filmed perfectly and the setting is dynamite! Dimash's outfit is incredible. What a vampire! :) His vocals are stunning and I love the R&B, soul, rock vibe! Great story line too. I really appreciate your sharing your expertise. Truly interesting analysis and reaction. That was Dimash doing the low octaves, and yes, he absolutely can do that live now!
@@FawziaTung No, he did not. Dimash did not sing 'The Flower Duet'. Please listen to The Bancock Voice Coach about it: ruclips.net/video/gZn8ip1erFs/видео.html
Yes, Dimash's accent can't be ignored. Nevertheless, I wouldn't want to do without it because I think it just sounds damn sexy 🐯and it's perfect for this song in particular🧛🏻♂️. It gives me a double Dracula vibe 🩸🩸.
No, no one else, all the vocals, including the backing vocals, are all Dimash. He also came up with the idea, and wrote the screenplay for his videos, as well as composing m, singing everything, and acting. He worked very closely with the director to make sure his vision was delivered perfectly. He also composed the OST oitro music and did all the music production as he does on everything he sings ❤ Dimash has many original songs in many different languages ❤
Outro is not a Dimash composition, it's a song that my friend Dear and I found on Spotify a long time ago. Now I can't find it... Maybe Shazzam will help?
The low notes are "cake" for him as well. 😉 He does much lower notes in other songs in every concert - I witnessed two of them live 🥰 - and I think it's time you finally overcome your reservations and believe that Dimash can of course sing everything live that he shows in music videos.😘 I wish you a very soon coming opportunity to see Dimash live in concert! Thank you for a great reaction! ❤️

Hi, Peter! I was surprised by your doubt about Dimash's ability to perform low bass notes, because he demonstrated this in live performances of his songs: Stranger (both versions and especially in China on the Super Brothers program), "The Story of One Sky", "El Amor En Ti". He has worked hard on his lower case, and if he wants to achieve something, he achieves it. And he never uses the help of other singers. Thank you for the wonderful reaction.
@@lisaquad6333The choir in black with candles is in Ogni Pietri (Olimpia) Choirs don't 'help' they add harmony and ambiance for the Main Singer or Soloist. Plus, poor Dimash even had to do a mic waving to prove it was him singing. No one should have to keep proving his skills. Just enjoy, his inspiring music easing the soul.
Really enjoyed this reaction. Thanks. And a big thank you for not comparing Dimash/the song/video with M.J or anyone else. This is one of the few up-beats song in English that I really like. Looking forward to your next Dimash reaction
Thank you for your reaction, you are very handsome again today. Dimash performs all the parts in the song himself, when he sang this song at a live concert, he performed both low and high voices live. He is a unique artist, he is the only one. And you are a great musician! Thank you for your work.❤🎉

The harmony in the chorus is actually Dimash himself. The co producer Dimitry Gordon said in an interview that this is 16 tracks of Dimash's voice layered on top of eachother
His supposed soundcheck was just a playback of the studio version, with two live flourished added during instrumental parts. So better don't sell this as live!

Stranger actually has lower lows, and he sings that live every time. It's pretty clear because it isn't as consistently low as he perhaps wishes for it to be. He's matured a lot in the past year.
I would agree that in the last year his voice has deepened even more, speaking and singing. Even his natural singing voice I think is more Lyric Baritone now versus 5 years ago it was definitely Tenor
Agree. Stranger at Super Brothers in China made my jaw drop. It's too much even for Dimash. Both the lows and highs there are not human. I watched it thousands of times. Insane!
I love it that you are going to be able to do this video!🎉I can’t tell you how many times I’ve now watched it! I get something new out of it every time!💜💜💜
Dimash's song choices are informed by his fanbase which is his niche market of millions across the globe. He knows a lot of them are english-speaking so it makes sense to sing this in English. He gives the concept (perhaps even writes the lyrics in his language) and someone else translates it to english. but he got me good with this one! No surprise there. Thanks for a great time Peter.
I think it is better first to watch the movie, maybe for yourself, and then do the Almaty concert for analyses. This way you'll be able to deeper understand the context. It is the most epic composition.
So fun to see your reaction to this one!!! 😄You made me laugh out loud, you were so clearly excited! This is absolutely one of my favourite Dimash-songs, I just LOVE his diversity! 👏❣️
For more of the clear, resonant notes and verses on the low end that is not vocal fry, check ou El Amor en Ti, a song he composed in Spanish for his fans. He composed it, had someone else do the lyrics, and he debuted at his Almaty concert right after his live performance of the epic The Story of One Sky. It is a type of performamce I am sure you have not seen before. Enjoy.
Thank you, Peter, a very thorough and professional analysis as always. Yet I need to say this: The Chinese audience seems to be the only one who appreciate Dimash for the great performer he is without focusing on his Mandarin. Accepting it to such an extent that Dimash was awarded in a show dedicated to ancient Chinese poetry for his performance of one of their poetic gems Thousand Miles a Common Dream. Not only that, they continue to record him performing theme songs for Chinese movies, TV shows and video games. And that in itself says a lot. A very different approach compared to English speaking reactors who always find a way to dig into his accent even when his vocals and his music respect them with their originality. This snobbery, to put it mildly, really amazes me against the English we hear in modern pop music. For most of today's songs, we need subtitles to understand the lyrics. The “accent” is so thick that you can hardly call it English. Thank you again.
What is more, I just read a comment from a French speaking Québécoise who says about Dimash's SOS performance on Slavic Bazar, and I quote: His accent is not just correct, it's perfect! Can you believe that coming from a French-speaking lady! The French can (sic!) but the English can't, what can I say?!
The facts speak very clear and is undeniable that the most respectful toward Dimash about his pronunciation in the 17 languages he sings are first the italian and the chinese fans and dears..Obviously from this speech are excluse kazakh and russian language because one is his native language and the other is a language that he know and speak very well..The Boss King Angel And The Living Legend Dimash

Really regret that you didn’t watch all the way through the credits too. Part of the composition plus great to see a singer recognizing his team. Love the dark music. I can’t wait to hear Dimash write an opera or a symphony.
As can be seen in the newspaper headline, this is Dimash's take on interview with a vampire. Was it a dream? Was she on the way there or on the way back? The two largest world markets are the U.S. and China. Back in 2017 when Dimash was invited as a contestant in the "The Singer" show, the invite was as a wild card, those in charge thinking he wouldn't make it past the 3rd or 4th round. I believe he accepted the invite knowing how big the market is there. That said, he's long been aware that the U.S. would be the next step, and ever since then he's been working on his English. And, Dimash upped his game, now being able to sing in 14 languages, the latest being Lithuanian? Romanian? No.... those aren't it, but it's in a similar country.
I've watched Dimash for some years now and have heard his low vocal range imrove dramatically, from barely whispering to his full bass notes. Anyway, this is definitely all his range, deep bass to the high whistle notes ❤
Peter! You know Dimash can sing anything! He sang every single note of this song, from growl to stratosphere. More Dimash, please! He has a new song, Angel Love which is lovely. You might like it. You might also be impressed by Jacob Collier. Check out his Little Blue (Mahogany Session) and Moon River. Thanks, as always.❤
I love how the darkness of the music and mv contrasts nicely with the sweetness of the lyrics. I'm obsessed! Thank you for the reaction! I know nothing about music theory so I love to hear the pros talking.
When I first heard this song, I focused mainly on the wonderful riffs and runs! After a while I began to wonder why the chorus felt so relaxing and homey. When I listened to the background, I discovered it was because of those very 50's and 60's chord progressions (or whatever they are officially called). I love 50's and 60's music so that explained it! You are the very first reactor I've heard who has commented on this "doo wop" sound in the background. Dimash doesn't usually write his own lyrics. He does decide what language he wants them in though. I think with this song having such a rocky, bluesy, doo woppy style, he probably thought it needed English lyrics to match that. Or maybe it was because he is trying to have more songs that will become more widely known in the US. This song has been a favourite of many American reactors. 🇨🇦
He does everything for fans not a market. He has millions of fans around the world and sings at least one song in the language of the country he’s singing in.
Great reaction! Such versatility and vocal agility in this one. A shame you had technical issues. I've been having them trying to record stuff. I guess the advantages of modern tech outweigh the frustrations, but sometimes I wonder. You'll enjoy Dimash singing Lose Control with Chanté Moore, BTW.
Dimash sang all of it every tiny highest pitch down to the lowest growl. There’s so much more that will blow your head off so amazing. I had to listen to this 4 times one listening to Dimash one listening and watching and one just concentrating on the amazing video. The beautiful reporter is Kazakh as well Look at the credits Dimash is involved in all of it. But yes he can get down to the bottom register of a piano and beyond as well.😊

Enjoyed your reaction and learned a lot. Dimash absolutely did all the low notes himself. I’ve heard him sing this song live in concert and Stranger and the Story of One Sky all have really low notes and super high notes. All live! He’s a one-take artist! In terms of accent in English, or any other languages he sings in, I think it’s beside the point. It’s more important how a singer articulates each vowel and consonant to maximize the impactful delivery of emotions. Regarding composing songs in English or Chinese or any other languages Dimash chooses to present, working with a native lyricist, it’s his intentional artistic stylistic decisions to showcase the creative ideas he has in mind. It has nothing to do with whether he is comfortable in a particular language or not. It’s more like who he is working with, the location and the subject matter of the song. Thank you for the informative reaction. 👍⭐️

Dimash himself announced he composed songs in Blues style, and this is the first of them. (Hoping for more:)) There is a 4/4 times rhythm and also a 3/4 times rhythm going on, and ofc he also used features of other genres. But personally I cannot "unhear" the "Waltz" in this song. Is someone needing a nice song for a wedding walz? Here it is. 😂
@@marane-hand I'm talking about Dimash being able to compose a song in 3/4-times and 4/4 times AT THE SAME TIME. This is genius. Both rhythms are found in many recent songs, too. So unless you declare "pop" and "rock" and "blues" being vintage I do not understand what you mean. Like, at all. Ever tried to dance waltz to a Metallica song? Or just listen to Zelda's Lullaby. Or "A Potion for Love" by AURORA. "Vintage" waltzes from 2022 or so. (Not even talking about all the Blues music from the year 2024.) 😁
Great reaction!! Dimash composed the music and Candace Kelly wrote the lyrics. I think he's trying to appeal to the American market by creating more English-language songs. 🤗🎶💙
. . . I heard about 70 people were involved in the production of this video! If perfection gets 100 points, this gets 200 points! There is nothing to do better.
You really must react to The Story of One Sky MV! He took 3 years composing it, creating the story and recording the video. Dimash does things there that nobody, nobody can do! It is a Réquiem... please, react to it!!! Hug from Brazil!
I have noted that Dimash has been developing his lower register quite a bit lately and much of his newer stuff showcases the lower rather than the higher. Either way, this was a truly fun video with a rock/blues feel to it. The newest Angel Love is not in English but was written by one of his buddies as opposed to him. This may have been influenced by Dimash having spent time in the US last year. Appreciate your input and analysis. Cheers from Canada (via Mexico!)

This one is such a fun departure. As much as I appreciate Dimash, most of his songs aren't something I include in a playlist for everyday listening. This one I definitely could.
Yes, but the deep part consists of an octave interval. You need to record the second voice and layer it under or over the other. You cannot sing that live in two notes at the same time.
@@marane-hand pretty sure the performance with Domingo was live! You can't compare a stage performance with a huge live orchestra to sthis MV and studio-recording.
Usually Dimash doesn't write the lyrics in any language. But he always gives his input on what he wants to say in each song. I thing at his composition OMIR he wrote the lyrics as well but usually someone else takes his ideas and write the lyrics.

A suspense video with a “noir” atmosphere, but without being located in the past, and a tale of passion about a supernatural creature who feels alone and needs to fulfill his passion for a mortal woman who suffers for wanting and not wanting turn her into one of his supernatural creatures.

He is doing low notes perfectly, believe me, I have listen alive two concerts...and cheers thanks...
Yes, me to!
I’m still convinced he sang the Flower Duet himself. I simply played both side by side and it’s obvious.
@@FawziaTung No, he did not. Dimash did not sing 'The Flower Duet'. Please listen to The Bancock Voice Coach about it: ruclips.net/video/gZn8ip1erFs/видео.html

I can’t wait to see you react to Requiem: story of one sky. Love watching your reactions
Awesome reaction! I totally agree-I love Dimash’s singing whatever he does, but I’d love to hear more in this style!
Das Blumenduett ist aus der Oper "Lakmé" von Léo Delibes.
Eines der bekanntesten klassischen Duette.

Peter, you're my favourite Dimash reactor :) You just seem authentic.
Thank you :}
Actually, he regularly uses 3 backup singers, and on Stranger he had a whole choir in black robes 😊
İstanbul konserinde izledim.Saatlerce dans etti ,şarkı söyledi. Dimash için bütün övgüler yetersiz❤✌

The harmony in the chorus is actually Dimash himself. The co producer Dimitry Gordon said in an interview that this is 16 tracks of Dimash's voice layered on top of eachother

@@Downtime123 Low voices takes more time to full develope and often younger high baritones resembles tenor voices.
Agree. Stranger at Super Brothers in China made my jaw drop. It's too much even for Dimash. Both the lows and highs there are not human. I watched it thousands of times. Insane!
I love it that you are going to be able to do this video!🎉I can’t tell you how many times I’ve now watched it! I get something new out of it every time!💜💜💜
So glad to hear that :)

Enjoy.
100% agree!❤
Thank you, Peter, a very thorough and professional analysis as always. Yet I need to say this:
The Chinese audience seems to be the only one who appreciate Dimash for the great performer he is without focusing on his Mandarin.

Another masterpiece from our Dimash ❤❤❤❤❤He was at LA last year, he composed a several songs there.
Love from Turkey.. Dimash is the BEST.. thanks for your reactions..
He does everything for fans not a market. He has millions of fans around the world and sings at least one song in the language of the country he’s singing in.

There were a lot of amazing vocal things to talk about with this one -- blame Dimash! 😂

Here it is. 😂
He is "vintage" in every style.

Yes, but the deep part consists of an octave interval. You need to record the second voice and layer it under or over the other. You cannot sing that live in two notes at the same time.
All Dimash doesn't mean they didn't layer vocals or he uses backingtracks. And you know what, this MV is probably lip synced too, not live!
