I don’t think I’ve ever seen a RUclipsr who makes these types of vids and shows gameplay for damn near everything in the store. I really appreciate that sir.
I have an interesting story about this particular Super Potato. On their front door I spotted a photo of the comedy duo Hanamaru-Daikichi Hakata which visited the store. It probably seems unusual that a foreigner would recognize any Japanese celebrities, but in this case Hanamaru Hakata played Dr. Haima Kagami in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid (ie. the video game themed show). =)
When you show this video, it's every 80s, 90s gamers dream to visit Japan. The world of little boys dream is VIDEO GAMES from the world of Japan. It is like every princess wants to go to World Disney. 100 yen is $1. Just take the last 2 digits of the number and that's in US dollar.
The Ikebukuro Super Potato is in my experience, a lot better than the Akihabara one. Better prices, overall better conditions and you can find real gems some times.
10:01-I see what looks like a Panasonic A1-FX (MSX2) on the bottom shelf of that console rack. I'm assuming the blue computer next to it is some kind of MSX1. Nice to see those around on shelves. 12:49-Ultima Underworld was ported to the PSX? I had no idea.
3:50 King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match, I own a PS2 copy, and have watched many videos on the game, so I recognize the intro. And as usual, many games there I'd want, but don't want to make my wallet cry. And of course some games there, like that Gradius II PCE CD, I have in my collection. I saw that boxed MD Crayon Shin Chan, under $20 there, but good lord, Ebay prices for it are not nearly as kind.
Dude I’ve been buying NES games like a fiend 😆 offer up is nice. Been getting games in lots for decent prices. I even managed to get the full box and manuals to some. Treating it like an investment in a way. I guess to justify my purchases lol. I really wanna travel to Japan someday and experience this myself.
So, is Super Potato generally more expensive than other places? Some of the prices I could make out seemed somewhat higher than even eBay prices. Or is it really dependent on location?
bought a retro clone system that supports snes and sfc so this might give me some ideas for imports to get, will have to look into ones that aren't japanese-heavy though! these game store trips are always a blast to watch, just so many cool freaking imports!
Jim I hate to complain. I am a big screen watcher and the 50 fps videos are making panning motions stutter once a second and might make it harder for some viewers to enjoy. You pan a lot in these videos and it is very distracting. Love your work and take care.
I went to this super potato a lot because it was down the street from my hotel. it is so cramp, I know Im a big guy but man. I was always worried I was going to damage something.
If there's a Hard Off near you, go there first, they'll have the best prices. If you have the time and it's not too far out of your way, visit some Hard Offs in less densely populated areas, they usually have the best stuff.
These are always a ton of fun. Especially great for educational purposes when guys like me can actually travel to Japan in the future. With US imports in these stores, would you say that they are even more expensive than their North American released counterparts or is that about the same? Thanks KidShoryuken!
It's an OK place if you're looking for very specific things in the best condition possible, as long the purchaser doesn't mind paying the premium. I get some requests for rare and expensive titles, games that'll cost a boatload no matter where you find them, so just make it easier and check shops like Super Potato and Surugaya. Like I said, after I was done filming I had them open up a couple of the cases. Also, a lot of their loose carts and common games aren't really much more expensive than you'll find in other places.
Noooo there are some great games for 3DO. Road Rash, Samurai Shodown, Super Street Fighter 2, killing Time, Gex, Crash n Burn, Wolfenstein 3D, Need for Speed...
There are indeed some very good games for the 3DO, but I'd say the bad games outweigh the good. I've owned something like 40 games for it and only actually liked maybe a quarter of them. That's why I no longer have a 3DO collection.
Just to have a chance to shut my mouth, sip my coffee or beer, and let the music take over. Listening to me drone on nonstop might get a little old after a while.
@@MadPanicGaming Ahhh, interesting. Listening to you is good brother, I learn which games are which cause some dont have English titles. (or i can barely see it). Keep up the good work, I like your content!
Undercover Cops was developed by the team that made In the hunt who went on to do Gunforce 2 before making a run n gun spiritual sequel nobody liked something Slug or metal something I think it was Metal Slug yeah Metal Slug. Series never went anywhere.......
Uploads from Jim and Scruffy at the same time almost! What a day!
It's a Christmas miracle... in April.
keep up the great work! Enjoy these
Thank you! I shall do my best.

My pleasure. Thanks for watching.
I am obsessed with the music. More jazzy store tours, please and thank you.
0:14 thanks for introducing me to this performance gem by Arnold.
At first i didnt recognise it was him cuz he didnt talk.
But then i rewind it twice. Yeah, its Arnold
My pleasure. Some of his Japanese commercials are just plain nuts.
Good one Jim always fun looking around the Ikebukuro Super Potato.
Yes, but my wallet weeps.

Actually, with the exchange rate now, 100 yen is about $0.91 or $0.92, a good time to buy Japanese.
I remember this Super Potato store... somehow everything was pretty expensive.
And somehow managed to write everytime "super potatoe" 😅😂
really glad your stillalive, thanks.

Great video Jim. Thanks for sharing cheers from Canada!
Much appreciated, thanks for watching.
Just had my Saturday morning coffee. Went great with this video.
the japanese console box art for the N64 is the best in my opinion. awesome video!
This is actually the first Super Potato I visited.
Didn't know that super potato has another stores beside akiba. Thanks for sharing Jim!! Greetings from Argentina
You always have great editing and CM, next ikebukuro visit should definitely feature a song from SMT
Right when I was bored, great timing Jim.
So much awesome stuff! Always great to go on a little tour with you, Jim!
Nice finds! Would love to see more GameCube next time if possible

Was there last weekend! Hunting down a gameboy
Thanks for Super Potato tour!
1:59 nice guevara with box
Omg that Sakura Wars Dreamcast!
11:43 damn my ocd kicked in. You put it back in BACKWARDS. *cries*
Love it!
I wonder if the American games go for more in Japan 🤔

@@MadPanicGaming Thank you :)
My rods and cones are all screwed up, Jerry!
Oh that does it. I'm coming over to have fun like you're having Jim. I'll bring the Pringles BBQ chips and Pepsi bro. 8^)
Anthony..
I went there recently it was pretty expensive
I wanted to be there this year, but that got canceled. Now I wanna come over next year so badly :)
I am glad you didn't have any energy drink, Jim :D
So many games. I'd so like to do a pickup run with you one day. I'd save up 3k just for the experience.
I detected no difference between Jim sipping beer and Jim drinking coffee except maybe you said words a bit faster than usual.
Is it a good or bad thing that alcohol and caffeine both seemingly have minimal effects on me now?
@@MadPanicGaming it means omae mou shindeiru
How much was Espgaluda? It’s eBay prices are ridiculous
It was about $70.
I would love to have that Macross for the Super Famicom 😊😊😊
i love capcom and Konami games

It’s only be an investment if you like to play. I wouldn’t expect them to retain the value they are at now.
So, is Super Potato generally more expensive than other places? Some of the prices I could make out seemed somewhat higher than even eBay prices. Or is it really dependent on location?
I find that they typically charge OK prices for common stuff and loose carts, but for anything even slightly in demand they crank the dial way up.

A lot of action platformwrs/shooters are mostly in English
@@opaljk4835 ah okay yeah I figured as long as I stayed away from RPGs I don't see the language barrier being a huge barrier for imports

Super Potatoe is just for tourists and expensive like hell. Better buy in the suburbs.
I'm one of the weirdos enjoying the VB..i have just recorded a video unboxing of it ahahah
why do you to super potato if theyre so expense tho? do they have better selection of hard to find or uncommon games there? or close location to you?
