  • Still way out in west Tokyo, in the neighborhood of Hamura, going to an old favorite of mine. This place was fully stocked and I had plenty of retro Nintendo, Sega, PC Engine and a whole lot more to dig through.

    Thanks for watching, everyone! I had a great time getting rained on and looking for games. One thing, my original music selection for the walking section had to be replaced due to a copyright claim that I didn't feel like fighting, so we get something much more generic, lol. Anyway, hope you enjoyed the video, and I'll see you on the next one.

    I love how you can pick up consoles and games for around a hundred bucks. I still have a weird love for the Saturn. One day I'm going to start a new collection and just chill on the ancient vibes.
    I love that I get to go game hunting in Japan. Never stop making these. I always feel a sort of way as soon as the intro hits. Excellent.

    If anybody is curious the song at the very beginning is "Nightland" by Droid Bishop, a really good synthwave track

    Afterburner showed up in the US as a Tengen cart for the NES, but still completely unlicensed. Plays really well, regardless, way faster paced than the Top Gun titles.

      Shinobi was also on the NES from Tengen. I liked it as well as the Afterburner title.

    You could "hear" the heat and humidity when you stepped outside with the Cicada's. Nice pick-up you had there on the PCE shuttle, as it looked in excellent condition. You should get yourself an electic cargo bike with rain cover. That way you can cover a lot of ground, still get your exercise and pick up bucket loads of games, consoles and other stuff ;-)

    • @MadPanicGaming
      @MadPanicGaming  2 года назад +2

      That's a good idea, I might go with that. Oh, and yeah, you can literally hear the humidity lol, it's more like swimming than walking.

    I beat that Tenchi Muyo RPG as a kid not knowing how to read a single thing in that game. Fun game, great animation, and one of the games that made me begin loving Strategy RPGS.
    Whenever I make it to Japan, I have to pick that up for official legal ownership.

    Afterburner did come out here in the USA on the NES; it was done by Tengen. Have you ever played the Super Famicom port of Samurai Showdown? I’ve read complaints that the characters/sprites are really tiny, but I’ve never played it.

    • @MadPanicGaming
      @MadPanicGaming  2 года назад +1

      Yes, I've played it. Yeah, the sprites are small, obviously the SNES can't hold a candle to the Neo-Geo, but it still plays well enough.

    • @MadPanicGaming
      @MadPanicGaming  2 года назад

      I've been to an outdoor flea market here before, but I don't know how common they are. I think places like Nakano Broadway serve as a sort of flea market, some of the shops allow people to sell basically whatever they want if they pay for the space.

    Another great video! How would you say the heat and humidity in Japan are compared to your hometown in Louisiana?

    • @MadPanicGaming
      @MadPanicGaming  2 года назад +1

      It's very comparable here in Tokyo, very hot and humid in the summer. Although, I made a trip up to Hokkaido one summer and the climate was much more mild, not very hot or humid at all really.

    Yokai Dochuki - I've played PCE and FC versions. FC version is the better game actually. PCE obviously has better graphics and sound but it also cut out some parts from the arcade. Famicom has those.

    Would be cool if you showed more obscure stuff instead of stuff you think we'll recognize. Skipped over Another Mind on PS1 which is about a nurse who gets into a car accident which causes another consciousness to form in her mind--and that's the player's character. You are another mind. Do u get into that kinda weird shit? If you do, would love it if you covered it more so I could discover new weird shit to buy. Love weird shit.

    • @MadPanicGaming
      @MadPanicGaming  2 года назад +1

      I tend to stick with games that would be easy enough to play without understanding Japanese, that's mostly what people request from me and mostly what I play too aside from the occasional RPG. I could make a video in the future covering some more obscure games though.

    • @CodeProvider
      @CodeProvider 2 года назад

      @@MadPanicGaming yeah i get im not your target demographic haha. but even for those who don't understand japanese at all, might be fun to find out about some games. some other odd PS1 stuff got recently: 町運命の交差点、夕闇通り、鈴木爆発. definitely recommend checking out these oldschool adventure games. unique fun experiences. Another Mind was made by Square if im not mistaken.

    I've always wondered if these stores carried an English section. For instance, a section full of North American releases, that sort of thing.

    • @xraymind
      @xraymind 2 года назад

      Not really. Since Nintendo, Sega, and Sony release their games in Japan first, there is no market for NA import games. Once in awhile, you do see NA games mixed in with games for the same console, like SNES in the SFC section.

    • @MadPanicGaming
      @MadPanicGaming  2 года назад
