- As things start to open again in Akihabara and around Tokyo, it's to get back in the game shops in the hopes of finding some decent deals. Super Potato is usually a long shot, but I'm always willing to try. Nothing like digging through this monument to retro gaming glory.

Thanks Jim! Its crazy how good this video made me feel, really uplifting to see people on the streets and most stores open again. I hope travel will become possible soon and I can finally visit Japan again. If not this mess, I'd be there right now, enjoying my summer holiday.

Still feels strange that I've been in that exact store. It's been years, though. They have way more consoles than I remember. I pretty much just remember games and toys.

I could just watch you walk down Akibahara all day and not get bored. I always wondered if places like Super Potato did like US stores and had american imports tucked in a corner.

I bought an American version of the WonderMega, the Xeye in Charlotte NC for about $100 buck 4 years ago, one of the coolest things I have in my collection besides this huge nintendo sears sign.

Xevious on the PCE is great! It features the arcade game, plus a sequel/gaiden followup game that is all-new. Super Potato is great and never bother people for taking videos in the store. Prices may be cheaper elsewhere, but at Super Potato you can't find a better presentation and ambience. I made a Metal Slug and Outrun iron beads for decorating the store, but they took damage and are probably long gone by now. That was about 10 years ago.
Fairly sure the leopard DC controller was sold through SEGA Direct and came in a brown blank box. Had a friend who got his that way back in 2003.
That is correct! Along with a few other designs...I picked up the woodgrain one when I was in Osaka last December.

Nice! Violent Soldier/Sinistron is one of my faves. PCE version is getting much harder to find now days for a good price. US one goes for less usually

Man I wish I could find a working MSX2 that's in awesome shape, I wanna play all those old school KONAMI games, I got to play both Metal Gear games from the MSX on the PS2 and I LOVE THEM!!! Especially the second Metal Gear, my God is that game overlooked

Great channel. Ive watched a lot of channels as such were content creators go to Japan game hunting but few with gameplay & ive always wondered what the games look like. I don't & if so rarely give a thumbs up but im going to say just for being different and the effort maybe even love you put into this vid, your getting one from me. Ive watched this channel before dreaming & wishing i was there but i didnt see any in past vids but this one was awesome & for what its worth, appreciated. However, whats better than saying thank you, giving a youtuber a thumbs up! You got it. If possible, can you do one i think super potato or Alibaba i cant remember any of the names of the stores but if possible can you do one with figs, statues & legos etc. I think in japan they sell hot toys, prime one studio etc statues for a good price & some weve probably never seen. Just a request. If you can cool if not, still cool beans. Still a dope channel either or. Cant hurt to ask. Have a good one & stay safe.
What I really find myself longing for these days are Game Boy games.
I have some digital ones on my 3DS (I also have some old physical ones, but their internal batteries are dying off), but I specifically miss browsing the boxes :/

To answer the Einhander question, it's running about $100 in North America right now... $80-90 if you're lucky. We had a copy when I was little and stupidly sold it away back in the 2000s. Damn!

Where do these retro game stores get their games from? Do they buy and trade used games from customers? Or is there some kind of source they purchase in bulk? It's amazing how much product they have!

You don't have to be discreet in SP, they allow filming. I use a Canon G5X, which itself is fairly discreet.

Has JapanPost re-opened flights to the US? I've missed out on some great auctions from Yahoo Japan since I can't get them out of the country.
That's what I'd like to hear more about. I wanted to order some new retro HW but was hesitant because of lack of shipping to US.
Still closed unfortunately. They’re opening up to more countries in Europe though, so maybe the US is opening up soon too.
Ray Squingini hopefully they will extend that to tourism as well. I’m booked for an October flight to Japan.
Shayne Pinnace I’ve also read they’re planning on opening up to businessmen pretty soon (this month or July) so hopefully tourists will follow.
