Thanks for watching, everyone! As the city starts to open up again I'll be out shooting a lot more videos, so feel free to let me know what kind of videos you'd like to see. Your feedback is always appreciated. Also, all of my social media stuff is in the description of every video, so have a look if you want to follow me on other platforms. Thanks again!
Hi, love the videos! I was thinking of signing up for the patreon game box is it possible to get switch games? And is there any delay sending boxes from Japan to the States because of Covid?
@UClJx4GwqqVhMbIknqB9GMwg loved the walkthrough! keep it up! Id like to do a one off game and snack box buy from you if you're still doing that kind of thing!
I bought an American version of the WonderMega, the Xeye in Charlotte NC for about $100 buck 4 years ago, one of the coolest things I have in my collection besides this huge nintendo sears sign.
Thanks Jim! Its crazy how good this video made me feel, really uplifting to see people on the streets and most stores open again. I hope travel will become possible soon and I can finally visit Japan again. If not this mess, I'd be there right now, enjoying my summer holiday.
I could just watch you walk down Akibahara all day and not get bored. I always wondered if places like Super Potato did like US stores and had american imports tucked in a corner.
Einhänder goes for well over 150 bucks in the US. The PC engine section looked amazing noticed Ane-san and Cho Aniki in passing. Always love your game shopping vids. Hope all you are doing well Jim. Thanks.
Still feels strange that I've been in that exact store. It's been years, though. They have way more consoles than I remember. I pretty much just remember games and toys.
Another awesome run, Jim! Liking the edits throughout the video :D Super Potato in Nagoya always showcase a lot of SNK games as well everywhere in the store.
Woohoo, another shop video! By the way, I recently subscribed to HappyConsoleGamer and have been binge watching his videos both new and old, didn't know you and John were friends, you've sent him some cool stuff! As always be safe and keep playing
It's really nice to see everything open. We're going to have to queue outdoors and have a limited amount of people indoors when everything opens in the UK. Not normal :(
Xevious on the PCE is great! It features the arcade game, plus a sequel/gaiden followup game that is all-new. Super Potato is great and never bother people for taking videos in the store. Prices may be cheaper elsewhere, but at Super Potato you can't find a better presentation and ambience. I made a Metal Slug and Outrun iron beads for decorating the store, but they took damage and are probably long gone by now. That was about 10 years ago.
Where do these retro game stores get their games from? Do they buy and trade used games from customers? Or is there some kind of source they purchase in bulk? It's amazing how much product they have!
I've been long aspiring to visit Super Potato for years, and Japan in general. Obviously, knowing the language would help, but how necessary is it to speak Japanese to make it around there? Thanks in advance, loved your video.
To answer the Einhander question, it's running about $100 in North America right now... $80-90 if you're lucky. We had a copy when I was little and stupidly sold it away back in the 2000s. Damn!
Nice! Violent Soldier/Sinistron is one of my faves. PCE version is getting much harder to find now days for a good price. US one goes for less usually .
I do love the tags they used in the dreamcast games section, that's cute! if we ever survive this pandemic someday I'd love to fly myself and my wife out there to check out some of those shops! (and sure do some other sightseeing around Japan) always love seeing these videos so much cool stuff!!
you did not mention the cost of the bulk package of super famicom games you picked up @ the beginning of your little adventure, just curious what a 10 ish pack costs. \
Man I wish I could find a working MSX2 that's in awesome shape, I wanna play all those old school KONAMI games, I got to play both Metal Gear games from the MSX on the PS2 and I LOVE THEM!!! Especially the second Metal Gear, my God is that game overlooked
hi little late a quest but this store inside have pc engine old gaming computer and ibm palmtop pc 110 old japan laptop? im this 2 model very search thanks the answer :)
Great channel. Ive watched a lot of channels as such were content creators go to Japan game hunting but few with gameplay & ive always wondered what the games look like. I don't & if so rarely give a thumbs up but im going to say just for being different and the effort maybe even love you put into this vid, your getting one from me. Ive watched this channel before dreaming & wishing i was there but i didnt see any in past vids but this one was awesome & for what its worth, appreciated. However, whats better than saying thank you, giving a youtuber a thumbs up! You got it. If possible, can you do one i think super potato or Alibaba i cant remember any of the names of the stores but if possible can you do one with figs, statues & legos etc. I think in japan they sell hot toys, prime one studio etc statues for a good price & some weve probably never seen. Just a request. If you can cool if not, still cool beans. Still a dope channel either or. Cant hurt to ask. Have a good one & stay safe.
Just a random question, are the maids scared of you at the end because you have a camera? I see them all turn away haha. Great video by the way. I would love to visit that store so bad.
My FIRST Console Game is Nintendo GameBoy Advance SP, and My SECOND Console Game is PlayStation 2. I Remember that's Game City Connection, but... Game before City Connection, i didn't Remember, have try it or not🤔🙏🙏🙏
Damn I hear about how expensive they are but the prices are actually way cheaper than eBay. How much was that 1943 Kai? $80? I'd love to be able to get a copy.
Oh my gosh, Ive nvr played Yo Noid, only Kamen no Ninja, and I thought it was a Chinese bootleg game! Sorry, I guess I thought the quality wasn't amazing, but I just replayed it a bit, and it is an ok platformer, weird timer thingy or shooting the items.
I always wonder how much American collectors affect the Japanese retro market. Are RPG's cheap because there's a huge supply of them? Or because demand is low since non-Japanese can't really play them?
Thanks for watching, everyone! As the city starts to open up again I'll be out shooting a lot more videos, so feel free to let me know what kind of videos you'd like to see. What an awesome store. We don't have those places here. Not even in San Francisco.
I remember my first time visiting Super Potato. I almost exploded 🤣
I bought an American version of the WonderMega, the Xeye in Charlotte NC for about $100 buck 4 years ago, one of the coolest things I have in my collection besides this huge nintendo sears sign.
I missed these game hunting videos! Always makes me feel nostalgic, hope I can go back to Japan next year.
Thanks for the great video Jim .
Amazing to see Super Potato is still around. I remember going there in 2008, it was rad.
Thanks Jim! Its crazy how good this video made me feel, really uplifting to see people on the streets and most stores open again. I hope travel will become possible soon and I can finally visit Japan again. If not this mess, I'd be there right now, enjoying my summer holiday.

If only we had stores like this in America that is cheap!
man that store looks incredible!

22:58 I *JUST* purchased that Doki Doki Panic booklet from eBay yesterday for a bit less (with a gift card), lol.
Loved the corresponding video clips!!

Got to come here on my trip to Japan, was awesome to see it again. Hopefully (in a few years at this point) travel will be a thing
kidshoryuken, you looked at a super nes game called papu wakun I think. Cant find it anywhere to buy, unless I am spelling it wrong.
Dude thank you so much for sharing!! Can’t wait to visit someday!
Dude, Were are the GameCube's
Fairly sure the leopard DC controller was sold through SEGA Direct and came in a brown blank box. Had a friend who got his that way back in 2003.
That is correct! Along with a few other designs...I picked up the woodgrain one when I was in Osaka last December.
Nice to hear the Wii Shop music again.

I kept hopping you’d find that Metal Slug game in this video 😆
amazing!!! please I want to hear tokyo street sound too!
Can't wait to get back to the Nippon
This was really entertaining, subscribed!
The music at the end of the video... I swear I've heard it before. From an old NES game but I can't remember what it was.
It's really nice to see everything open. We're going to have to queue outdoors and have a limited amount of people indoors when everything opens in the UK. Not normal :(

It's refreshing to see how peaceful it is over there, because it most definitely is not over here lol.
Prob cos Japanese cops dont kill people for fun.
Like I've said to other people, nobody does merch as well as Japan. Gotta head back to Akihabara someday!
I know I'm late to this video, but wow, when I make my trip to Japan, no way I'm missing this place!

Hey what is the name of that super famicom game you picked up the first one? Papua ?
20:35 Shame that Einhander is around $20 while the US copy is around $127. And it looks in great condition also!
@ice ninja Don't look at me.
I wish you a wonderful day to everybody!
Enjoyed the video. Anyone know how to play dreamcast on a modern flat tv?
I wish more Game Boy/Color/Advance and N64 attention.

Are those CRTs for sale too ???

Awesome Jim!
KidShoryuken, Where can I find the Cheapest PS1, PS2, Saturn, Dreamcast, Gamecube and Wii games in Japan?
Ahhhh was trying to work out the music Mario Paint on the Snes ?.
Wii store in the beginning if that's what you mean
My FIRST Console Game is Nintendo GameBoy Advance SP, and My SECOND Console Game is PlayStation 2.
I Remember that's Game City Connection, but... Game before City Connection, i didn't Remember, have try it or not🤔🙏🙏🙏
The MSX you were holding seemed to be tapes, not cards. I would love to get into MSX, and collecting MSX cartridges but they are soooo expensive
Has JapanPost re-opened flights to the US? I've missed out on some great auctions from Yahoo Japan since I can't get them out of the country.
That's what I'd like to hear more about. I wanted to order some new retro HW but was hesitant because of lack of shipping to US.
Still closed unfortunately. They’re opening up to more countries in Europe though, so maybe the US is opening up soon too.
Ray Squingini hopefully they will extend that to tourism as well. I’m booked for an October flight to Japan.
Shayne Pinnace I’ve also read they’re planning on opening up to businessmen pretty soon (this month or July) so hopefully tourists will follow.
Damn I hear about how expensive they are but the prices are actually way cheaper than eBay. How much was that 1943 Kai? $80? I'd love to be able to get a copy.
Iwill come to visit this place is a tourist 💝
Where's this place ? I needed the address please 😊
Is it also possible to buy PS3 and PS4 in Super Potato?
Populous for 110yen sounds alright if I had a Super Famicom

what does sample sticker means?
If you take the game to the counter, they will show you several copies in varying condition at varying prices.

Yes.
Japan value their games as high as books and movies, they took care of those stuff nicely so that's why everything is cheap
