- Hello my friends!
When I was in Tokyo, Japan, I did a video tour of the 5 BEST RETRO GAMES STORES in Akihabara.
I'll cover Friends Game Shop, Retro Game Camp, Trader, Mandarake Complex and Super Potato!
1:23 Friends Game Shop
4:58 Retro Game Camp
9:08 Trader
11:36 Mandarake Complex
14:42 Super Potato
Those stores may not have the best prices in Japan, but they have a huge selection of Retro Games, from SNES, NES, Playstation, Nintendo DS, SEGA Saturn, GameCube, Dreamcast, NeoGeo, to Game Boy, etc. They have tons of retro consoles too!
So if you're looking for a guide or a tour of the best Retro Game Shops in Akihabara (Tokyo), this video is for you!
If you're looking for cheap retro games try Osaka's "Akihabara" or Super Potato in Ikebukuro.
The problem, through the years, is that these stores know what they are selling and that tourists are willing to pay high prices for Retro Games, so it's super hard to get good deals on old games. But at least you have high chances of finding the Retro titles you're looking for! The prices are similar to the ones you could find online.
So let's find some gems and classic retro games!
Thanks for watching mates, THUMBS UP if you liked this tour and SUBSCRIBE for more! 😉
Take care, and may the POWER be with YOU!
See you next week! 😊

I would certainly go for those Game & Watch games. These little pocket games are a part of my childhood!
I had no idea that there were so many retro stores! That copy of Street Fighter Zero 2 for the SNES was extremely expensive!! I didn't know that the prices have reached those levels in Japan, thanks for this video. Looking forward to the mystery unboxings of the SFII figures and to see what you bought!
This awesome thanks sharing this video 👍👍👍👍👍
Wow! I wish america had retro game shops like this!
Welcome to Japan!
Very useful information even for a Japanese like me.
Now I know which shops I have to keep my husband away from. lol

JordiPower I just got back from Japan and a friend took me to super potato and we spent most of the day playing metal slug at the arcade upstairs after browsing all the games in the previous floors. Picked up some gems too. I wish we had places like this in New York.
Man I love your videos and this one's no exception. Its nice you got the opportunity to visit Japan, a place I gotta go to before I die.
Thanks mate! Yes, try to go, Japan is an amazing place! At the moment it is not very "occidentalized", so go as soon as you can! 😉

There's a shit ton of N64 games! You just have to go to the various stores and look. the stock changes constantly day to day.

You are KILLING ME man, KILLING ME!!! I went to Akihabara in 2013 and it was my heaven on earth. I went into all those shops. I've been DYING to go back. Take me back there please.

Everywhere you go is so organized. I could get OCD from watching these. Lol
Oh man, seeing this video makes me want to go back to Japan! It's only been 18 months but it feels like years!
That happens to me every time too! 😅
I'm glad you're out there though - it looks so fun! Are you getting some delicious food while you're there???
I'm already back, but the food was delicious, yes! Lots of rice with curry, ramen, some beef meat and of course some Sushi from time to time! 👌 It amazes me how good the prices are food wise! 😊
Yeah, that's pretty much all I want to do (is eat) in Japan. :)
Really cool dude! I hope you had fun!
Yes! It's was super fun! Thanks mate! 😉
Other places worth checking out in Akihabara are Book-Off (always a great place to find good used games anywhere in Japan, including lots of Famicom and Super Famicom), Hard-Off (a more hardware-focused cousin of Book-Off, and considered kind of a "junk shop," so most of their stuff is really cheap -- which means when they have games, they'll usually be cartridge or disc only, but they'll also be CRAZY cheap), and Beep (a relatively new store that specializes in retro computers like PC-88, PC-98, MSX, etc., but also sells Famicom and Super Famicom games, among many other things).
Thanks! Good video! Great English!
Big Mario right there... not the guy, the Mario. I almost died.
Amazing
Sooo nice :D hope you enjoy the trip!
Thanks! I arrived home some days ago, but the trip was amazing! 😉
You deserve WAY more subscibers, my friend. Watched couple of your videos - they are AWSOME! Greets from Russia! ;)
Thanks a lot buddy!! I appreciate it!! (hope google translate is accurate!) 😉
Planning to visit Japan again? Last time I went there I found Your list very helpful. I'm thinking about going back there in 2019, before the olympics. Also looking for retro fanatics/youtube personalities to meet up with to make a video or a series.
Amazing One.. Truly a great tour video... Damn i gonna send like 600,000 ¥ only on gaming and clothing in Japan
Yes! If you like retro you're gonna spend way too much money! 😅😭😭😭😭
I didnt know about the Friends shop. Have to go back now...
Now you have the perfect excuse! 😂
My dreamland for gaming 😅
good video man subbed
Thanks a lot bro!! 🙌 🙌 🙌
Great video keep up the good work
Hope you didn't have to work on editing over your vacation
Thanks a lot!No, I didn't bring the computer. I needed all the available space for the geeky stuff 😉
I'm already home, with tons of footage to edit! 😅
To cool

Excel•lent feina man, i moltes gràcies per teletransportar-nos a Akihabara ;D big Mario! ;)
Gràcies man!!!
That.... Was the first time a party sized snickers has ever smelled like a bigmac.
That looks amazing! I've always wanted to go to Japan, is it expensive to visit? would appreciate any tips for vacation cost!
awesome video. prices are ebay level. shame no deals
Though Super Potato has the best selection, they're definitely among the more expensive. I found a great store in a street next to the main drag with great deals.
what is it caleed
great video what video games did you get 😎 🙏
Heya, what was the average price for a Game & Watch in box worth at the Madarake Complex?
These stores are like a haven for me
I can't get over how the Japanese keep their retro games in such pristine condition!!!
I know, right? As a kid I threw all the boxes 😭😭😭
Loved your video. It wasn't rushed. I do have a quick question- can those retro games be played I English or only Japanese?
Some of them have ENGLISH only menus.
Other ones have japanese menus, but by try an error you can play.
Other ones only have japanese and you can't play them if you don't understand it (like RPGs)
You have to try Takeshis challenge man !!!!
You made me discover it, so you try it! 😅😅😅
I better go back see some Takeshi in Ghost in the Shell instead...
Jordi? Ets catalán? Me gustan tus vídeos de Japón tengo pensado ir mas adelante
Great video! A question, are you from Spain?
If your answer is yes: tu canal mola mucho, tío, ¡sigue así!
If your answer is no: your channel rocks! continue making videos like this :D
Yeah, I'm from Spain and I can confirm that. Andorra is a little country which shares his soberanity with France and Spain.
Muchas gracias tio!
Recomendado.
That's correct! Beautiful country, you have to come by if you come nearby! 😉
Hahahaha, si que se nota! Gracias por el apoyo!!
Nice video have two questions first of all do these games work on consoles ? And second can you switch them too English ? Thinking uk long work for those consoles.
Hi!
Some games are region free (like the DS ones), they work on all the DS and 3DS.
Then, for the japanese games you'll need the japanese consoles.
In general, you can't switch them to English sadly. but lots of games have little text so you can play them even if you don't understand japanese.
Hi bro, do yoy know how much is a dreamcast and some games?
I love the video, I wonder how the food was? Also one would say cheaper not, "more cheap". It may not be important but I get frustrated when I speak other languages and others don't correct me when I make a mistake.
Thanks Daniel!! I know, I realize my mistakes, but I will get better! 😉
The food in there was very good. In fact everything you eat is good and with honest prices. I guess that without mass tourists (that's gonna change soon though), they don't have tourists traps, so all the restaurants live from local people, and therefore they are pretty good.
We ate lots of Rice with curry and fried pork, Ramen and a from time to time some Sushi.
You can eat for $6 or $7.
JordiPower That sounds awesome.
Nice vídeo. What is the name of the song? So funny.
You can find the songs at the end of the description. 😉
They are free.
can you do more console mods. I wanna see maybe new switch shells. :P I dk if u have a 3d printer tho
I don't own a 3D printer! That would be cool but I don't know how to 3D design ;) I want to do one common mode with a Gameboy Advance, but I have to get some parts before :)
i like you're video's just curious what nationality are you Your Enthusiasm about games are awesome.
Thanks Ely! I'm Andorran! 😉
Awesome! Are you travelling anywhere else in Japan?
Thanks!! 😊 I did another trip there 3 years ago, but I don't think I coming back to Japan for a while now! There's lots of wonderful places to visit in Japan, too bad there's not enough time and money 😉
13:44 --> 14:06 Ah ah ah ! :)
What song is playing around 17.40--> thanks
I bet ill go nuts next week when ill visit tokyo first time /drooling
I love megaman.from japan
Me too!!! I love Japanese games!
I'm going to japan at the end of the year and i was wondering if i was to buy a famicom and go into the settings would i be able to change the language to english from Japanese also with gb,gbc and gba games to english? Thanks.
Hi! No, you won't be able to change language! Some games are playable in japanese, if you manage to understand the menus. Other games are still in english. The best thing is not to buy RPGs games if you can't read japanese 😉
ok thank you
Me in Japan: I brought two million dollars.
Japan: Ill take that.
Rest of the trip is walking and starving. 😂
Hahaha! That would be any retrogamer in Japan! Also you would need some $ to buy additional suitcases! 😅
I was trying to catch some of the prices but couldn't make them out. Do you perhaps remember about how much the game & watch games or the gba were?
I didn't, but looking at the video I see that the Octopus and Lion for instance were 27.000 yens, which would be around $270. Vermin was 92.000 yens, Fire was 370.000 and Judge 28.000 I think. They seem pretty expensive but I'm no expert. Moreover they are boxed and look in great condition. Hope that helps! 😊
JordiPower that's amazing value compared to what you can get online. But I think I'll pass either way 😂
What is PS Vita Price?
tendrias que mostrar que compraste y cuanto gastate...
Is there a ps2 games in there ?
Gracias y sigue así con tu canal!!!!!!
Abrazo
Akihabara seems to be pretty expensive nowadays :(
You likes your metroidvainia/street fighter
Where you from?
Even if they are not cheap, the prices are good if you think about it a bit
a lot of games in the US (back then) could be above $60, some being $80 or more, and that is not even considering inflation, and modern games are $60 on average
Of course you could buy loose cartridges if you would prefer, but from a collector standpoint the prices are pretty great.
I'm honestly curious what's different about Japan, because English retro games can get really expensive, especially if you want the packaging, but in Japan most of the games seem to maintain extremely average prices
Also a question, can you speak or read Japanese at all?
I think they are cheaper because there's a lot of them, and in Japan there must be less collectors. In fact almost all the retrogames are being exported out of Japan. I think the japanese prices are going to be the sames as the EU/US ones in some years.
I don't understand Japanese, but for a lot of games you don't really need it.
What about prices???
"To say the least, this one is pretty expensive" *turns it over* Its only 12-13 dollars, for a boxed super famicom game. C'mon!
jordi where are u from?
second comment
is Super Famicom the same as Super Nintendo?
No! 😅
Good video, but try to get more stable shots as you moving around a lot causes a lot of blur and last song you had was super annoying but otherwise good job.
Eres español, verdad?
12:51 IS THAT A MOTHERFUCKING JOJO'S; REFERENCE?!!??!
$40 for a mint condition sealed, boxed super Mario world is cheap as heck
Don't understand what you are saying.
dude please speak spanish, your accent is hard to get invested on with is bummer because your videos are cool. i think your videos in your native language would have for fluidity to them. most people wouldn't mind reading the captions to understand.
looks like everyone feels obliged to post video`s of retro shops in Akiba nowadays. The title is misleading, some shops you show aren`t even good. Friends sucks and the son is a major asshole, Mandarake isn`t even worth going up to the 6th floor and Camp is a joke. The only ones worth visiting is trader, Surugaya and Beep or Mak / gfront is you need arcade.
