MOST FUN VIDEO EVER!!! What was YOUR Favorite System? Anything NEW to you??? DROP IT BELOW!!
DOZENS of NINTENDO in-depth peeks coming on the NEW Channel!! www.RUclips.com/@TokyoLensShorts
SAD STORY ALERT!!!
I saved up and got myself a Retroid Pocket 3+ so that I could play N64 games on the go!!
Was aiming for a steamdeck... but couldn't justify the price lol
Got it!! Loved it!!!
And then...
Left it on an airplane and never got it back
the heartbreak was real lol
Oh no, that's so sad. 😢
When I leave a place, I look 5 times around to see if I left something behind because things like that happened too much with me when I was little. TRAUMA. Hahaha
Oh no…..
were we suppose to pass it around taking turns gaming and watching? lol. 50 years later. twitch! hahaha
That's a shame, was it long ago? Any chance of getting it back from lost and found?
One day I will travel to Japan and buy alot of stuff gaming 😊
You're turning your office into a retro paradise. You should consider opening a retro museum.
the ULTIMATE retro paradise!
The Retro Man Cave! @@TokyoLens
I went to showa museum in Takayama this May and I fell in love with that place! It was full of retro tech from old Japan. Norm can easily create his own museum with the stuff he got haha😅
@@TokyoLens Retro gaming for a retro person. Yes, this is coming from someone who is bit more retro than you. Now if I only function as good as the systems you gotten.
Nintendo is opening an official retro museum. However, they will not allow anyone to photo/film inside, similiar to the Ghibli Museum.
That's it. I've watched a couple of your videos now and I'm 100% convinved that you are an 8-year old in adult packaging.
Whether you are running through Tokyo, visiting abandoned villages or showing the insane architecture, there is this childlike joy about you and I really enjoy watching it.
I was born in 1989 and I actually have a green 1-up mushroom tattoo from Super Mario as a tribute to the hours I've spent playing the game when I was younger. I always had to be Luigi because I'm the younger sister. Oh, the nostalgia.
Love watching all the inventions Nintendo has created using their cutting-edge technology of back then! Everything looks very creative and fun😆It must have taken lots of efforts to collect all the retro games as well! Thank you so much Norm!
Such a kind comment as always! Thanks so much
Nintendo really created excitement for so many people over the years~ nothing but gratitude!!
I’d love to do the same, but for Sega consoles. Loved the Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast. Wish I could go back to those days.
Such an amazing time in gaming!
The second you pulled out a Virtual Boy, the sheer happiness I felt in my body was unmatched. God that system was so fun, but so terrible.
Perfect description of it!
Never got to play one as a kid but remember some ads and so badly wanting to
So much nostalgia just rushed through my body when he pulled that out.
sudden memories of the smell and feel of sweaty eye foam.
Walmart had them on clearance for $20. TWENTY DOLLARS!!!
Red Alarm was a fantastic game.
I love retro gaming, so this video was incredible to see what exists.
So many fun systems!
You always find the coolest old tech pieces Norm!
So much fun~
Oh boy, the moment you pulled out the Super Scope I squealed so hard I scared my cat! 😂
I'd never leave your studio, that's literally childhood paradise!
its become a really fun place!
LOVE THIS VIDEO! So cool. Your happiness shines throughout. So amazed that these really old items still work even when they’ve been labeled as “junk”.
KRIS!! Thank you eh!!
its amazing that the gameboy was "Junk" lol
slightly mind blowing
Love this look into retro gaming. You've somehow connected two of my interests, Japan blogs and retro gaming and I love it.
So nostalgic! Thanks for sharing all your finds with us Norm. Loved seeing you nerding out over these. Such joy! It's like Christmas morning 😀
Edited to fix all my spelling errors 😂
Collecting this was a year very well spent! Thanks for being along for the ride!
I’ve had to share this with my sister, she is such a huge Nintendo fan. Your joy is so infectious.
There was just so much joy to be had with this video!!
Thank you so much for tagging along!
The robot kinda looks like Wall-E. You could name it Norm-E 😂
I already love your video's. Then you added retro nintendo games to the mix. It brings me back to my childhood. Thanks for what you do!
This was amazing. I've always wanted to try the Virtual Boy but this trip through Nintendo's history and your joy experiencing it was so wonderful
This is museum-worthy stuff. Amazing collection! (Next time in Japan I hope I have more time for thrift stores)
And it's unbelievable how futuristic some of the devices are. 3D, portable batteries, etc. are things you see today, but Nintendo had them in the 80s.
Fascinating video! :)
The Famicom and the family basic set are actually on display at the video game museum in Texas.
so many things in this video hit me right in the nostalgia. I can't believe that was 25 minutes.
Original cut was 3.5 hours hahaha I may have spent too much time actually PLAYING lol
@@TokyoLens ahaha, somehow I'm not surprised. that looked like so much fun 😄
Such an amazing video! I've been collecting retro games since 2011 myself. I hope we'll get to see a part 2 with Gamecube and forward! 🤩
Loved this video! It's great to see how happy you were doing it. A couple of systems I didn't know existed and wish I had had, especially the robot! Keep up the great work mate!
Love the studio! Man, yet another reason why when I finally get to Japan I’m going to have to send a shipping container back with me 😂 great video my friend. Good to share some nostalgia with you.
I remember loading games with tape storage lol. 30-45 minutes later you could play a game.
and tapes would get dropouts & games would go corrupt!
Super cool video. Thanks for sharing your collection c: !
Great vid as always🤩 love me some good retro!!
Absolutely loved this. My earliest experience was playing the Game&Watch Donkeykong, then playing Mario Bros on Atari.
Back then companies were not obsessed with making products to have a short user life, these things were workhorses!!
P.S I'm learning Koi Koi Hanafuda, it's a good game ;)
3nd ❤
...ish lol
This is the best (and earliest) Christmas unboxing I've seen on RUclips ! Those consoles and portables made my day. It's like watching my childhood unfold.
Absolutely loved watching this! I always enjoy learning about retro gaming and it was really cool to see the Japan-only releases!
likely had WAY more fun making this than I expected haha
Not sure why i irked when you use Japanese accent when saying FamiCom.
It’s not a “Japanese accent”
It’s called “proper pronunciation” of the word
Learn the difference
lol re-reading this… you’ve Got to be joking around right? 😂
That’s the only actual official assumption here
Just taking the piss and playing around right? 🤣
So much joy in this video. I also love that I got to learn a little bit about gaming history.
Loved this video so nostalgic and seeing your enthusiasm was so infectious ❤
Thank you so much!!
Not gonna lie, I learned a lot watching this video. I never knew there were so many retro systems, not to mention how unique they are! Thank you for sharing your time with us because this was truly an experience.
I love watching your videos like this Norm! Seeing your face light up, and how excited you are is honestly just the most wholesome thing ever! :)
haha thanks so much! Definitely had way too much fun lol
This is one of your best videos. I loved all the systems you shared. I still have an original game boy!! What the rage is was back in the day!
This video brought back so many childhood memories, thank you so much
great video, some awesome games Norm, you make learning old games fun, cheers :)
This was insanely cool to watch! Took me way back in time. Thanks Norm!
You rock.. Amazing work there....Love all the collection flashback..
Glad that you enjoyed this as much as I did
I love when it's Nerding Time with Norm ! Absolutely loved this video and I'm so happy for you. This looks like a dream come true !
Also, hanafuda are really fun so you should definitely learn to play some games !
Wow! This brought back some great memories. Those really old game systems are so awesome.
So much nostalgia!! That was a lot of fun!! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You being this happy with all your finds is my favorite part of this video
This is so awesome!!! I tried convincing my husband to get a famicom system when we were at Super Potato but it was just a bit over our budget. I loved watching you play with this collection and boy am I impressed, and a little jealous! Such a fun video and thank you for sharing with us 😊
Wow you just blasted my brains with so many cool nintendo stuff I have never seen before. Awesome!
Had so much fun watching your retro gaming video! You literally travelled back in time. I wasn't a Nintendo guy growing up (more of a Sega type) and the earliest thing I owned that you displayed was the Game & Watch. I had Fire and Chef. Hours of fun! Thank you Norm. Great and enjoyable memories!
Oh my goodness! This video pokes my childhood excitement so much.. and I did not know that the game & watch original system looks like that😍 I need to share this video with all of my friends lol thank you for another great content, Norm!! I can’t imagine how hard it would be to collect all these and plan/shoot such a video
Loving this video setup! I dont think I can pick a favorite system, though the clear shell famicom is amazing. 😮
A huge dose of nostalgia, an awesome history lesson, and a great video!
Your physical comedy opening these sets were gold. Thanks Norm 👍
I'm too young for most of these systems but we had the Pikachu N64 which my father randomly purchased while on a business trip. Retro console designs are so fun!
A video after my own heart!
As a retrogamer, Japan-ophile and lover of all tech....I just loved this video. I know about all the games and consoles you presented, but I really love your passion and the way you presented them!!
I've never played any of these, but your enthusiasm was infectious.
as a life long nintendo fan, even i didn't know about some of these machines!! Thanks Norm! best guy!
I reverted back into a child when I saw you pull out the old RF switch. I remember having multiples of those, to use the NES on more than one TV.
You gave me nostalgic chills! Good times 😊😊😊
I owned the American versions of almost all of these systems as a kid. Somehow even just watching you unbox these gave me that same feeling of opening a new console on Christmas day. Thanks for sharing!
It's so incredible to see all of this
Great video. Made me a subscriber. Love the dpad talk on the donkey Kong g & w. I nerded out too.
This is EPIC! Thanks for taking us back through memory lane, and a wild history museum! Can't believe you found so many BNIB items.
Amazing video. There is a lot of history there, and enjoy your collection. I hope you get some spare time to enjoy them. 👍
Thanks 👍
This video should be titled "How to greatly upset Nintendo Collectors" lmao. When he pulled the battery tag on the pocket pikachu I yelled "NOOOOO" and died inside.
LOL guess I shouldn't tell people that I dumped it in the trash after that eh? LOL jk
Well, not quite the content I expected from this channel. Now I love it even more. I'm usually here for the excursions into the promised land. Thank you so much for immersing yourself in everything about this country so that not all of us have to!
Absolutely loved this video. First console I owned that you hook up to a tv was an N64, but first console I ever owned was an OG Gameboy, with my first game Donkey Kong.
This video was so fun to watch Norm. I'm a 90s kid and grew up primarily with SEGA but most of my friends had Nintendo so I got the best of both worlds. I absolutely love those Game and Watch things!! They look mint!
Wow, I had no idea there were so many different versions and accessories for all of the Nintendo/Famicon systems. What amazing little treasures to find at the thrift shops. Amazing, thanks for the trip down memory lane.
What a great video. I enjoyed every minute of it. That Gameboy with Tetris brought back some memories. Played that one sooooo much.
I hope some day LGR makes it to Tokyo and you can have a meetup. That would be epic.
You got a lot of game systems i have at home aswell 😅 love your explanations of em ❤
I love this video 🕺
Nostalgia galore!
it is awesome to see all those old nintendo consoles and a lot i have never seen before. it is an amzing collection you have there 😄😄
The thing that rang my bell was for sure the Super Mario 64 file select music, that brought me back!😊
I absolutely love it.
So much of this video was just a walk down nostalgia lane for me as well
Impressive collection Norm! Nostalgia overload. =-)
I love this thanks man!!!
This was so fun!!! I loved the original Gameboy playing the original Pokemon games. ^_^ Thanks for this Norm!!!
I remember living in Japan during elementary school and I had the Disk System. I used to bring those disk to the game store and actually downloading a game onto that disk. It was an amazing invention!!!🤩
This is aweseome. Love all of the Nintendo stuff :D
I'm loving the studio!!!
I have pre typed this message in my notes in order to copy and paste it to the comments as fast as possible lol, but I love your videos I’ve always wanted to visit Japan and I 100% WILL ONE DAY! I was hoping to throw out a video idea and entirely up to you to use it of course but a video on where you would go if you were visiting Japan for 2 weeks and you wanted to get the fullest and best possible experience in those 2 weeks, like I said just a suggestion still gonna be a fan regardless lol but thanks for all you do in spreading knowledge on Japan and how amazing it is and broadening my love for it! Thanks again you’re awesome!
Holy crap Norm! I knew you liked retro gaming through your previous thrift shop vlogs, but daaaaaaaaamn! This is WAY TOO COOL.
It's also damn amazing you managed to find all of that stuff (and in the conditions they're in) in the span of a year... I've been collecting for about 10 years (on and off) but some of those are absolute unobtainium here in Portugal (and Europe in general)!
I'd definitely love to see you cover more retro gaming goodness!
BTW, you should looking into some console modding, we're living in a golden era right now and every console under the sun seems to have great upgrades available, especially the portable ones!
Wow. Your studio looks so much better now. I still remember the short tour of your studio when it was still quite empty, only tables, shamisen stage, and that smallest shop stall 😂
Good job on the decorating, Norm! 🎉
This episode has so much fun in it. You are like Tom Hanks in BIG!
I love that so many ideas were from the 80s but you can see it in later releases. Like the 3d system turning into a 3ds or the power-glove which became the Wii.
so amazing you can get these at thrift shops there! i still have my original 89 gameboy with the magnifier screen and earbuds intact 😄 hearing all the old game sounds in the vid just took me back
I had a SuperScope back then, and yes, it was really fun... This is so nostalgic
I still have my Pocket Pikachu ❤️
Reseted it so much back in the days 🤣
Thanks for the awesome video
that was a amazing. so much nostalgia, and also that weird non-stalgia for things we all saw and wanted but never had. Thanks for the Non-stalgia.
Love your channel, started wathcing with my 11 year old who is fascinated by Japanese culture and now i can add retro gaming to the mix. Also power glove ❤
This was such a fun trip down memory lane ❤
I am not jealous that easily, but this video did it!
Amazing collection Norm!
WOW what a Super Dose of Retro Gaming with an overload of Nostalgia. Thank you. The chronological breakdown is EPIC. The studio is turning into a Gaijin Retro Shrine
Yes sir is was an awesome video and took me back in time.😊 Thanks.
What an impressive collection, I never knew you had all this! ( mindblown )
spent the last year putting it together for this vid!!
entirely in secret!
I'm a new fan of yours and this video is definitely different than all the ones I've watched of yours so far in which you've been out around Japan showing us tiny homes and trains. So cool.
Glad you enjoyed!
@@TokyoLens 😁 You're a cool dude!
Oh the nostalgia.
I’m amazed that there is so much you found still in box
It always makes me gasp and clutch my pearls whenever Norm slams electronics down on a table.
I didn't know Game & Watch had dual screens; fascinating.
I always found the red visuals of the Virtual Boy to be unnerving.
Great video, I learned a lot.
you have an absolutely gorgeous collection of cool nerd stuff :D
I love videos like this
It's amazing you were able to get all these... Game & Watch brought back a lot of nostalgia
Dude, congrats on your collection. I'm normally pretty negative but dude your collection rocks and you're heart is in the right place. You seem to be collecting for the reasons I did when I was younger. Awesome vid!
Thank you for representing the Virtual Boy well! A lot of people seem ashamed to talk about it in a good light. I bought one when it released in the US and loved it. It's such a fun system with some great games, especially Wario to me. The only thing I think could be changed is the hard straight edge of plastic near the nose. I wanted to sand it down to a curved but was afraid I might do permanent damage to the system. The Virtual Boy is definitely my favorite of the video, with the N64 and Super Famicom being a close 2nd and 3rd!
Super Famicom was my favorite system ever made. I love the library. That and then i get weird with TGX16/TurboDuo. Then it goes to Panasonic 3D0, then Neo Geo anything.
Really impressive collection. I had many of these including Disk system, the 3D glasses and virtual boy.
I've seen many documentaries about these retro consoles, but it is so cool to see someone actually using them.
