It was indeed. They had a lot of quality titles. I didn't even show the inside of the glass case, they had some especially nice games in there but also astronomically expensive.
@@jd-py5nm Yeah USA is exhausting at this point. Moving to Japan and getting allowance is extremely hard, however. Hell, getting a bank account there is beyond complicated.
God damn, your videos are still so great. I actually watch walking tours of cities as well as game related stuff, so seeing the mix of the two is awesome. Wow, crazy selection of games! Never heard of that Darius game... Awesome. Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks Jim for making me visit Japan again, seeing my favorite store in Shinjuku is so nostalgic, I spent hours in that store browsing trough everything. To think I found this store by chance, I was exploring Shinjuku and found the Marui building and as I was reading the stores it had, I saw Surugaya, I got back with some great loot :) On another note I think Surugaya is the store where you can find the most US version of games, last time I was there I saw Killer Instincts SNES and Rise of the Robots.
I got Darius Extra for the Genesis from Strictly Limited. Waited over a year for it to finally ship. Awesome game, though. It's a beautiful port of the original arcade game with some bonus content. It originally released on the Genesis Mini console that came out a couple years back, but had never actually seen a cart release before.
heh used to go to that surugaya on the way from work couple of times a week, scored a brand new towns marty for cheap! maybe we rubbed shoulders a couple of times :D
Next time you're in Shinjuku you should check out the Prime1 Shwocase. I know you don't really care about statues but it's really cool to see nonetheless.
before the video proper even starts, yknow I think I need to replay policenauts! (I have junkerhq's english saturn translation on my computer or the PSX one on my classic, so one way or the other I might pick it up again.) definitely hoping to get back into SFC collecting in 2022! someday I do wanna import a saturn and collect some of the Japanese exclusive stuff!
I presume with no foreign tourists in the Akiba and Shinjuku areas in the last 2 years. It's not as crowded and busy ??? I mean those two places have always been super busy and crowded; foreign tourists or not.
@@MadPanicGaming it's a great game it's a shoot em up 2players u can control a jeep and helicopter with 1 player u can choose either of them and by the way it's a 3d platformer. It's a hidden gem that no ones talking about. 🤗🤗🤗
Sweet hunt brother Jim keep them games flowing. It funny we havent run into each other more often while on the hunt its like our thoughts are synced😉sweet intro by the way. Next time you take the helicopter out for b-roll shooting take me with you😁🚀🗿
Silkworm was released on a number of computer systems but the only console port was the NES in the US. It's successor, SWIV, was released for the SNES and Mega Drive and Gameboy.
I like the enigma remix lol... Haven't heard that in awhile 👍😉 that's so Kool how in Japan there's no employees watching you and you can actually look and go through the games without them being behind glass or having anti theft devices on the games unlike in the USA, people steal everything. Honor system is great 👍. Something the USA will never have. Especially the no security cameras everywhere in the store. There's like a 100 surveillance cameras in every store like this in USA..
17.46.. the only good game that they had at that store and you don't even show that you'll case I wanted to see the Japanese version of Gunstar Heroes that's the only good game that they had in that store and you didn't even show the jewel case or the Box
Love that psychic force music in the end of the video .
Stellar soundtrack on that game, an old favorite.
Policenauts theme set to the sights of the city is beautifully perfect
I thought it sounded familiar. 👍🏼
Great games highlighted here, Jim! In the Hunt is such an awesome shooter!
It is indeed. Underrated in fact.
@@MadPanicGaming 100%!!
Nice to see Shinjuku night life and lights when Game hunting!
Thanks for showing the outsides of the buildings and walking around a bit too!
That Saturn section was really cool!

That Surugaya in Shinjuku is probably my favorite store to shop in all of Japan. I've spent hours in there.
Love the B-roll footage and the music
Thanks for adding the gameplay footage, big improvement!
Made me realise just how long it’s been since I was in Tokyo now 😭
Hopefully it's not going anywhere anytime soon, so you'll be able to drop by again sometime.
I'm seriously considering moving the family there after how things have been here in the states I think it would be a wise move
@@jd-py5nm moving there is a bit extreme 😂

Love the Policenauts intro!
Great video thanks. I was recently playing that game cyberbots on the capcom arcade stadium collection, worth a look at.
That Surugaya in OIOI building is such a fine shop!

Oddly enough, I've been seeing more and more NTSC games popping up as of late, especially at Super Potato. They have a case full at this point.
Stop wearing those stupid looking Sonichu medallions "cuddly" Sarumaru makes for his elite print club...y'all look ridiculous... 😂
Oh love the opening with Policenauts music 👍
always cool to see Surugaya get featured again. and arrow flash is still one of my favorite shooters on genesis/megadrive
It's a damn fine game. Great gameplay, visuals, and sound.
If it’s one thing I must do before I die is walk the streets of Tokyo at night while listening to the Policenuts soundtrack!
Just because you used Policenauts as a song in the video, you already deserve the like.
Much appreciated. :)
Oh hell yeah! Love these late night walks/game hunt vids!
I love the japanese/video game music in your videos. Good job !🤩😍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Great video per usual!
Thank you Jim!
Game at 11:39 is actually getting an official english localization release this year under the name "River City Girls Zero"
Oh, cool! Was not aware of that.
the background music of this video sounds like MGS1?
It's the main theme from Policenauts, which Kojima directed before moving on to MGS.
Keep these videos coming, thanks :D
Will do. Thanks for watching!

Can you do a compilation of Japanese Nintendo Switch commercials? I liked your Super Famicom commercial compilation.
There is always something i want in those stores. Do you ever find video game soundtracks on CD?
Whats that music in the ending? Pretty cool.
God I fucking love all these games
How is it possible that Japan still has sealed copies?

It's not the lack of tourists really, it's the numbers of people electing to stay home. Still gets plenty crowded out here though.
Are there any Famicom SILKWORM game
I don't think I've come across that one.

Hey Jim, one of these days have you ever consider doing a retro game hunt of the book offs and surugaya locations in Osaka ???
Yes, I've thought of that. Still never been to Osaka. Need to head over there sometime soon I think. Maybe later this year.
His profile picture looks like one of the main characters from Gunstar Heroes is that what is he using as his inspiration
I consider In the Hunt to be peak Irem.
Policenauts in the real life! Great video 👏
Thank you!
Stay safe out there Jim
Thanks, bud. Will do.
