- Taking a first look at this HERCULES 20V Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 2-Stage Vacuum Pump - Tool Only 59438 that was ignored at the 2023 SEMA Show. I think this is a good entry into the HVAC/R side of things for Hercules. A listing of approved refrigerants would be nice, specifically A2L.

I got this pump this week. Its nice and compact, but it substantially slower than my beastly JB 7CFM.
I bought this pump for automotive use. Replaced my ac compressor and it was awesome to not have to rely on a power cord. Later on today once the sun goes down I'm going to replace a solenoid on my wifes cars ac compressor. This is probably my favorite Hercules tool as this Texas heat is no joke. The fluid extractor is a great idea. I need to look into that to do oil changes and transmission fluid changes on my vehicles.
Yes. Harbour Freight manifolds have Acme ( automotive) fittings on the charging ( yellow ) hose.
And 1/4” flare on red and blue
Awesome Review man! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I would love to see more videos of this on a test with a car or hvac unit for a house, or even an appliance like a refrigerator. Like you stated earlier.
Thank you! I'm hoping to have something soon.
As far as a fluid extractor I can assure that a hand pumped extractor is LEAGUES faster that a compressed air powered one. And better priced.
I don't know any technicians that pull anything down with a quarter inch hose except for maybe a recovery tank. At least from what I've seen in the field 3/8" is the standard minimum for a vacuum hose nowadays.
Nice unit. Even has gas balance valve.
It's actually not a gas ballast, but rather just a quarter turn valve.
For pulling a vacuum I recommend Dow Corning high vacuum grease over nylog. hands down does a much better job.
I will look into that, thanks!
What kind of oil do I use
I’ll prolly pick one up soon for house air conditioners
I'll be trying mine out in a week on a 3ton install.
@thegaragehub did you try it yet on a residential install
@@justinheavner4573 yes, I'll upload he video today
@thegaragehub Awesome I'll be looking out for it!
I'll have to change out the vacuum tree when I pick one up. That 3/8" port is useless as is for me.
Looks like a cute little piece of kit. After seeing them, I’ll probably pick one up when they offer a coupon. It will only get used for things like automotive or nothing bigger than a PTAC unit. It may be the ticket for evacuating a drier core change if the system has isolation valves. For normal repairs on commercial systems, no way. You’ve already strung the cords out for recovery by then… I’ve made as many unwanted trips to the service van for a fresh battery. The jewel that has saved miles of hiking for me has been a midget crescent wrench!
Thanks for the feedback. Lol yup the ol' all sixteens.
@@thegaragehubget back to me how it does brother
@@adamcicciarelli5686 I'll probably do a short on it, or a shorter video.
If you have moisture in your cars A/C - it’ll take many hours to evacuate that system. Automotive is actually whole lot more difficult to evacuate, because of shaft seal, abundance of rubber hoses and the type of the tube and hose connectors it employs.
Unless you’re “30 minutes at 30 inches” person - which is “about nothing”.
The problem that 3/8 flare ( the biggest port) is at 90 degrees to main gallery. That fact is negating the whole “bigger opening” theory, for vacuum.
Should have been the biggest port is aligned or at least “Y” to the main gallery
Great observation! I guess doing that would have put this pump over budget lol
Can you use Milwaukee battery with this ?
I can’t vouch for that exact but I DO know that you can get adapters for batteries between brands off of amazon
No gas ballast?? This is awesome regardless
Not fancy enough for a gas ballast.
Start of the pulldown was really slow.
Would this pull down to -60 cmHG? Or -0.8 bar ?
Great question! The answer is
google.com
use it on the car
If you're referring to the s13, it ain't got no ac 🫠
I'll find something.
