When doing rear pads and rotor on electric park brakes you need to place the unit into brake maintenance mode.

What if you can’t see your screen to see if it is in maintenance mode

Then you need to replace the screen @@smithmusic07

How do I do that ???

Everything you need to know except to release the electronic emergency brake. If you dont do this, you will be screwed and have to assemble it all, disable the system, and do over. Dont do anything until that system is disabled or you will potentially push the piston out of the boot and then have a bigger mess on your hands

What if you can’t see the information screen to see if it’s in maintenance mode. Screen quit working months ago

Thank you for the video, very clear and helpful! The bolts that held the caliper, bracket on were certainly a pain! But I got them eventually. I tried to take the hex bolts but couldn't get them to budge so I went on to removing the bracket bolts. Once I got the bracket bolts off and compressed the piston, the hex bolts slid out within the slides because they are stuck into the caliper. is this a bad thing?
Well I found out it ain't a good thing :) There seems no way to put the caliper on without removing those bolts so I used a propane torch to heat each of them up for 5 min and finally got them all off. This has been quite a job, I keep telling myself: "I'm saving money, I'm saving money...."

I was just about to do my breaks and so glad i didn't come across this video first. I believe you dont even need a caliber tool if you do the maintenance mode first and after completing the breaks

I didnt see Ryan put electric park brake in maintenance mode, is it really necessary if your not replacing caliper. Im replacing my rotors and brake pads on May 6 can someone comment back please

I'm in the middle of fighting with it right now. It seems like to compress the piston at all it needs to be in maintenance mode. My issue I'm hitting now is that the piston still isn't compressing enough to get over the new pads.

    • @TheBurnoutShow

So to compress the piston you need to use a special piston compressor tool, as I went over in the video. If you don’t have one, there’s a link to one in the description in this video.

No maintenance mode activated, didn’t clean any of the contact points on the hub/brackets, didn’t put any caliper grease on the pads or slider pins, didn’t use a torque wrench for the proper specs on the pins and carrier bolts…what a good tutorial on how to show people a way to half ass your brakes 😂
