I'm about to do this job on my 2013 Escape AWD and noticed that the notch wasn't pushed into the axle nut on replacement. Just wanted to let you know that and I appreciate you publishing this video. It'll save me a few hundred bucks from having a shop do it.
Gee, all this work done in about 11 minutes,.. and my Dealer told me that it would take 1.5 hours! Hahahaha... thanks for this 'How To' but I wish you'd told us ( me ) the torque on these bolts and axle nut. Thanks again!
I have the 2017 escape titanium AWD, if you have the electronic parking brake, DO NOT try to push in the piston in the caliber. There is a maintenance mode that will retract the electric parking brake motors, ( just look it up on RUclips)
Is it the same for the 2013 titanium? I did the hub assembly today on my uncles escape and abs light and traction control lights came on and was under powered
I have the EXACT car with 37,300 miles on it. I thought yesterday that I was hearing a noise coming out of the back, right side. Now, I’ll do deeper exploration.
Oh look at the big man, knows how to torque it down without a helper. Just kidding, you're a beast with precision. Thanks for the video; awesome intro to wheel bearings. I SNAPPED MY WHEEL STUD AAAAAH!!!!
Thanks for the great walkthrough. I have to replace one on my 2013 Escape. Not looking forward to the North East rust. I hope mine separates as easy as yours.
Brilliant thanks mate ! Must do mine ! Just one question my squeaks rear drivers wheel just like yours I think I need done ! But just want yo know how you realised it was the bearing, I'm positive it's mine as well! Everytime I press the brake it stops and then when I let go the pedal it starts again
That noise would be coming from your brakes. When the wheel bearing is bad, it makes a humming noise that changes pitch if you load or unload it. Like if you go around a curve in the road or swerve. That squeak that changes with application of the brakes is brake related.
The worst part about this is, when i go to do mine this weekend, i will inevitably fight every single nut and bolt, that will immediately strip the second i put any amount of torque on them to take them off... and will become a 10 hour job
Hey There, This is Amber...I am working on our 2013 Escape Titanium, replacing driver's side rear hub as well as replacing the rear brakes. Could you tell me the torque that should be on the 32mm and any of the other bolts that require a more exact torque.? I couldn't believe it when I pulled up this video and saw that it was actually someone I know, worked with, and trust. I am very proud of you. I will tell Little Rog to check your videos as well. Great job! PS...You would make a great teacher!
Wow! Small world Amber! If you haven’t already changed out that bearing, check out my hub buster video. That tool takes the work out of removing them! I’ll look up the torque when I get off work. You welcome to borrow my hub buster if needed.
I replaced the same wheel hub on my uncles escape and now it has abs, traction control lights on and it’s a bit under power. Could I have damaged a speed sensor by going this? I did some sanding of the rim where the hub rests in
Can you describe the symptoms? My wife has a 2018 Escape Sel, has 28,000 miles and is making a slight popping noise in the rear whenever the axle is articulated. It’s been very hard to diagnose, and all the ball joints are tight.
One would think! I went round and round with the dealer and he said he couldn’t help because the bearings were only covered to 36,000 miles! It was like 500 miles over. I spent half my working life in a dealership and I know they could have warrantied those bearings.
I would have went directly to Ford bypassing your Ford dealer. Ford don't want to lose future sales because of 500 miles. I've had a PTU & bearings replaced & front passenger drive shaft at Ford cost 2500 miles out of warranty. I also have a Ford Escape 2017 AWD.

Thank you so much for making this video. The best part is not having to use a slide hammer. Great trick! Much appreciated!
How fortunate for that person to have you for their mechanic!
I know right? hehe...
I wonder why my mechanic took so long to do my hub.....😡 looks like I will be doing the other side.
rear axle nut is 160ft/lbs . Good vid.

Good straight forward video, thx!
I'm curious how you diagnosed it as a wheel bearing and then how you isolated it to that particular bearing?
Lazy method: Drive the vehicle until you hear noises, jack up the vehicle and turn the tires to see which one is making the noise, repair as needed.
Great tutorial! Rear bearings much easier than front. 👍👍

The procedure to put electric parking brake into "maintenance" mode is spelled out in the owner's manual also.
Thank u i also have the titanium and lookin for info on it
Great! Thank you for taking the time to post such an informative and well presented video. Well done Sir.
Thank you!

Apparently 17-19 Escape you can put brakes into Maintenance mode, they will retract caliper for you.
How?

A little bit of anti sieze goes a long way lol
hello guys whats the torque of the 4 torx bolts and the axle nut? plz thx

@@Tomsfoolery. thanks mate 👍

Hi again mate ! So could it be the caliper if not the bearing or most probably the bushes! Would it be agood ldea to get anew caliper

Great video 😎 Thanks
Great Video!!!!! Thank you for sharing this!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
hi, i need to change the rear axle on that same car will the axle slide thru the opening after the hub is removed?
Is it the same as the front ??? Same installation
Thank you for the simple video.I assume this is all wheel drive model. With front wheel drive it should be that much simpler with no spindle nut.
Yes it was AWD.
Torque spec on 32mm?
What is the torque spec in the bolts ????
Very helpful, thank you for making the video.

@@Tomsfoolery. Still waiting on this answer myself. been getting a few different specs and nothing set in stone. calling ford in the morning
Great video, I’m going to tackle this in a couple days. Did anyone find the torque spec for the center nut?
Three replies without an answer. Now four.
Looked it up: 98 ft. lbs
Wow thank you!!

At 5:33 looks like cv shaft pops out. Did you smack it back in?
Good job
Is it the same as a ford Kuga 2.0 4x4?
Great video thanks
Wondering what the socket is called for the back of the hub? I cant find it here anywhere
e-torx star socket, he mentioned size E14
Video is great but what's the torque specs. With out that it's a no go.
Thank you!
Absolutely 👍 performance plus skill and knowledge 👌 THANK YOU FOR DETAILING HOW IT DONE....💯%

Check your rear lateral links my 2015 had the same things going on.... Also check the inside of your rear tires if they're ate up its the links
Great Video, I wish everyone directed the same. will this apply to the 2007 4wd escape also?
Different body style
he does not say any torque specs that is Very Important the Torque for this Model Is ( 98LBS )
Was this for the 4 bolts or the 32mm
Quick question, what do you torque the axel nut?
Impact gun
Forgot the tork on 32mm axle nut.
You Needed to talk to Fords area district manager it would have been done on warranty
This is FWD or 4WD?
It's AWD, similar to 4WD. Easy way to spot the difference is the presence of the rear axle shaft
36000 miles? Aren't they under warranty til 100000 miles???

Powertrain is 60k miles
I looked up my year but there you go.
Why people buy ford anyways?
Your video will only play the first 21 seconds for me no matter what I do. Ugh
What kind of mechanic put the boat in with a power tool first I and not my hand, oh a mechanic that works by himself
