Bon Scott died 41 years ago today and watching this brings back so many memories. The man had so much presence when he walked out on stage. Great days indeed.
1978. Toledo, Ohio. I went to see Aerosmith at the Toledo Sports Arena. Some band from Australia opened for them. The best concert I've ever seen in my life. I don't even remember Aerosmith even being there. Angus and the boys blew the roof off the place.
I visited the Bon Scott statue last year in Kirriemuir Scotland, his birthplace. At the base of his statue it says, "And the music was good and the music was loud, and the singer turned and said to the crowd, LET THERE BE ROCK! I listened to this album, If You Want Blood, when I was a teenager over and over, and seeing the actual footage blows my mind,
This was my first concert in Toledo, they warmed up for Aerosmith and they got an encore! Then If You Want Blood came out and I realized it was the concert I seen. So awesome!
Total respect to whoever had the foresight to film this gig at the greatest rock venue ever, The Glasgow Apollo. Sound quality and picture quality is amongst the best I have see from pre 1990's
Yes. This is just fantastic footage for 78! It's especially wonderful to see Bon live. I had just watched the original Jailbreak film clip. No frills , just amazing stage presence and raw talent.
@Geoff Morris '78/'79 were excellent years for live recordings and sound quality - Whitesnake's "Live in the heart of the city", Judas Priest's "Unleashed in the east', UFO's "Strangers in the night", Cheap Trick's "Live at Budokan".... or even Kiss Alive 1975 (and way better sound quality than Alive 2 in 1977)
Yes it does sound wicked. This sounds to me like the same mix as appears on the 'If you want blood' album, which I believe was recorded at the Apollo Glasgow, in which case ( I would imagine) it will have been a full multi track recording of all the channels coming from the stage split and sent out to a mobile recording studio parked out the back. This recording could then be mixed and mastered to produce the album, and also synced to this fantastic footage. There is also a video of Riff Raff from the same gig here. ruclips.net/video/ErXbMB9R5-0/видео.html

They’re rock solid, along with Malcom of course. Can’t recall any of them noticeably missing a single beat or note in any of their filmed performances, and I’ve probably watched every one available to the public at least 10 times over lol. Sure what they play is relatively simple as far as technicality goes but not many bands have a groove as incredible as AC/DC’s one.

I would love them to come back to Manchester in the future soon!!! I want to see them live once in my lifetime too but it won’t be the same without Bon 🥺😢😭

Don’t forget Phil Rudd, solid, dynamic, makes you want to dance. One of my favourite drummers for sure. The drums on back in black and beating around the bush. Classic, and his live set.
I was there at the Apollo back in 78... did not realise just quite how lucky I was then.....still as fresh today as it was then,... a soundtrack for my life!
I am nearly seventy and live in Melbourne, Australia so the band are favourites. Used to see them as much as possible when they were starting out even before the first album. We knew they were great then and you could see them in big local pubs for a couple of bucks .. The last tour they did here with Malcolm they had bars set up on the stadium floor serving beer and bourbon and coke . just like the old days. Fantastic show and no trouble. Miss Bon though, he had charisma in spades and was a phenomonal showman Working class rock....no bullshit.
You guys are lucky to see them So Up Close and Intimate. I only got to see them Sarrs Concert In Toronto Ontario Canada. Half a Million Strong. They blew them all of the stage. The Loudest and the most recieved More than the Rolling Stones and a Long Line Up of Bands. They were Awesome. Your Right. The Best Working Class Band. But to see them so Up close Like you Paul. That would be Insane. Yes Bon was it in Spades. No Doubt.
Angus, I hope all the band members and your families are well. My name is Dan Anderson, I'm 52 years young and a hardcore lifelong fan. Nobody rocks like AC/DC and Angus; you will go down in history as I believe the best lead guitarist ever. I was lucky enough to see you play in Cleveland about 18 years ago. I just wonder if you remember in between songs it became very dark and quiet. I yelled loudly " ANGUS ROCKS". In the quiet darkness you strummed one cord as a thank you. That was so awesome. Thanks Angus. Nobody rocks like you. God Bless and keep Rockin!!!!!

Hello ACDC fans, I'm from Australia 🇦🇺 and I have a story you might enjoy. It was the early days when the boys were just starting to break ground in the Australian music scene, even at that early stage the band was well known by young people such as myself (back in the day) one day a bunch of us (girls and guys) were in a pub in Katoomba, NSW (all underage) anyway a bus pulls up and out jump the band & road and rock into the pub for a beer, needless to say we were all stoked. They were on their way to preform a concert in a town named Bathurst, by the time they got to Bathurst the mayor had banned them from playing because he thought they were a bad influence on the kids. I'm 64 yrs old now and its something I've and will never forget.
Minha primeira cassete..dada por um amigo que a encontrou tirada numa obra de construção civil... deu-me porque sabia que eu gostava deles... era ACDC ao vivo..blood . tocou sempre até arrebentar... tinha na altura..16
"a bad influence on the kids" Wot, and talks of thermonuclear war, plagues, corrupt leadership, piss for schools ain't bad influence enough? We need more o' the original rattle & hum from Angus, Bon, Malcom. Maybe then we'll all just head bang in peace, "all in the name o' Liberty!" Only 50 here but, damn it, grew up on Aca Daca in the States. Do believe Bonn knew once he came in that they were destined to be exactly what they are today, the world's greatest band. R.I.P. -- Bonn Ride On -- Malcom
Bon Scott . . . A freakin' brilliant singer. And that guitarist , how brilliant was he . AC/DC . . . they were a godsend . Australia had a tremendous rock scene kicking off in the late 60s . Just bloody tremendous
He's been doing that same strip tease act from the 70s. He just doesn't do full moon anymore, revealing logo or flag drapped boxers. Show business makes people come back
i think he had a deal with the devil, "let me rock like hell and i´m yours". after a very great punk-concert (nomeansno) i felt like a bird, which is flying straight to a window, for 3 days i can´t keep my head up, no chance, but it was worth it, every f***ing minute. rock on \m/
I turned 21 in 1978 and my late older brother bought me tickets to see AC/DC in St. Louis, MO. and again in KCMO where we lived. What a time we had!! I can't believe it was 38 years ago. My Bro passed away in 1992 and I miss the hell out of him but this is one great memory I'll have forever.
Christ alive, this is raw as fuck and tight as hell...top of their game and utterly utterly brilliant...I can’t tell you how much I love this...there will never be another band like them.....👏👏👏👏
Meant that there would never be a band like this classic line up...the B.Johnson years were good but Bon Scott was a different level....and this is pure gold...👏👏👏🎸
This is simply the standard by which all other rock is judged. I mean, look at angus... he's pouring every single ounce of himself into this. Just an awesome performance.
Bon is still performing even when standing at the back waiting to sing. He was a far better front man than he gets credit for. AC/DC lost more than just a singer when he died.
I love the hell outta Angus Young!!! He just runs around the stage nonstop with that strut he does in which he's been doing for decades now and still going,, he's gotta be in his 60's and going the hell off still. Straight banging his head and pumping out blues riffs!! AC/DC the greatest rock band ever, HANDS DOWN!!
@@michaelyolch79 It’s definitely the same performance, no question about that, but if you listen closely the bass guitar has a lot more hi-midrange aggression in this version. I would love them to come back to Manchester in the future soon!!! I want to see them live once in my lifetime too but it won’t be the same without Bon 🥺😢😭
And RIP Malcom... I cried all day when I came across that.🎉
@@krysti2 They showed some of the funeral. I got choked up at the sight of fan saluting as the hearse drove off
I STILL HAVE MY TICKET £1 . Never got my hearing back , but never heard Bon live again .

*I was lucky 🍀 enough to see ‘AC/DC’ way back in 1976 @ ‘Lancaster University UK’. 🇬🇧*
*We thought 🤔 we were going to see a ‘Punk Band’…because of the name. The Next thing we knew; is this mad man (Angus) burst onto the stage & blew us all away 😳 and I’ve never been the same since…* 🤪
*My ears👂are still ringing to this day..!* 😂🤣😂
*In this video, you see one of the greatest guitar performances EVER..!*
*You can see many who can shred (hate that term) faster than Angus’. However, there’s never any soul to what there trying to express...*
*Whereas with Angus. He lived & breathed every note & every bend of the string… and you felt it, as you were there, right along with him, feeling every note, nuance & expression… to the very core & soul of his being..!*
*Not only was Angus a great guitarist, he was a 100% committed, a supreme athlete doing what he did; sometimes for nearly two hours…*
*THERES ONLY ONE… ☝🏼’AC/DC’… and only one ‘ANGUS’ and there’ll never EVER… be anyone quite like them, ever again…!!!*
*R.I.P… 🪦 MALCOLM..!* :: PEACE ::🕊❤️
HAHAHA !!!!
This is as good as any live performance anybody ever in rock n roll. Just stupid good.
If anybody ever ask you why this band is so freaking respected in the rock world, don't say anything, just play them this bad ass song and that's it. If they don't get it, there's nothing else you can do man.
And you aren't a man! 😎
Perfect
Amen
100% absolute truth.
No effects!! PURE ROCKN ROLL!!
Nobody has ever rocked harder, longer, better than before or after these guys ever.
Mc5 live
You are so right NO one comes close
Heaviest concert I ever went to. Nothing and I mean nothing ever came close to the sheer power and rawness of this band.
Saw them in Colchester on the same tour LOUD! or what fucked my hearing up for around three weeks 😮 still worth it and feel very privileged to have had the chance to see them with the great man himself RIP Bon you were awesome
this is the best version of this song in my opinion
❤❤ oh oui! Quelle forme angus et bon! J'aime !!!!!
Playing their birthplace, They are on full gas. Angus is possessed. Magnificent
Heaviest songs in R&R history, esp. LIVE
45 years later and this song still knocks me on my ass every time, raw ass-kicking rock and roll, absolutely amazing!!!
One of the best of all time!
Absolutely amazing! My favorite band is Rammstein, but AC/DC cannot compare! Angus Young’s guitar prowess is unmatched and will continue to be so! I had to listen to this three times as it was so “f’n” amazing!
“And the music was good and the music was LOUD!”
Let there BE...................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bingo Long that was real BLAST YOUR A** ROCK AND ROLL WAS THE BEST
Not loud enough
"WAS", WHAT A BAD WORLD !!
Sandra Campbell UUHHHH ROOOOOCCCK
Has absolutely got to be one of the best rock and roll performances ever!!!
Just the better band on the world with genius riffs !!!…. Brothers Young and this band big congratulations !!!:…. Gold medal for real rock !!!…. 👍👍👍😜😜😜🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Don’t forget Phil Rudd, solid, dynamic, makes you want to dance. One of my favourite drummers for sure. The drums on back in black and beating around the bush. Classic, and his live set.
His drumming is so tight. Way too underrated.
I was there at the Apollo back in 78... did not realise just quite how lucky I was then.....still as fresh today as it was then,... a soundtrack for my life!
the sound quality is ridiculous, superb, the energy is off the scale.
When I'm low I watch this video and all my troubles go away.

cool it works !

Miss Bon though, he had charisma in spades and was a phenomonal showman
Working class rock....no bullshit.
Well said
You lucky swine. Lovely story
Johnson did a hell of a job tho replacing him .
No Doubt.
Too fuckin right...
Phil Rudd, WOW, What a machine on the drums 🥁
I agree. Just incredible drummer 💖💝💝💝unsung
Agree
Dude....
I couldn’t be harder 👄
What a lovely message, my friend. I was at this gig. It changed my life...
Feb 1980 ....April Wine concert...i was 15. Myles Goodwynne dedicated Rock n roll is a vicious game to Bon. Thats how and when we were told that he been dead that morning. Talk about crushing a party. What a fuckn memory. Im 56 yrs old now and it still kills me. That is all
Man, I've seen this a hundred times... It fucking NEVER gets old.....👍
This is hard rock. The best. Has never been duplicated since.
Может сейчас обмелел народ? Не
Hands down one of the best live AC/DC performances I've ever watched. That guitar tone is absolutely skull crushing
najidesuka???Kodoha@10;10am by Diamond Dave YAAAAAA man hard Core Rock and Roll !!!
When AC/DC was AC/DC. Spectacular 🤘🤘
Minha primeira cassete..dada por um amigo que a encontrou tirada numa obra de construção civil... deu-me porque sabia que eu gostava deles... era ACDC ao vivo..blood
. tocou sempre até arrebentar... tinha na altura..16
"a bad influence on the kids"
Wot, and talks of thermonuclear war, plagues, corrupt leadership, piss for schools ain't bad influence enough?
We need more o' the original rattle & hum from Angus, Bon, Malcom. Maybe then we'll all just head bang in peace, "all in the name o' Liberty!"
Only 50 here but, damn it, grew up on Aca Daca in the States. Do believe Bonn knew once he came in that they were destined to be exactly what they are today, the world's greatest band.
R.I.P. -- Bonn
Ride On -- Malcom
Actually couple guys fa cranhill could tell ya mad story about cranhill n ruchazie boys back then pure mental 😂
they were so bad influence that they conquer the world !! and that Mayor who the hell he was ? Susan loved you story , cheers from Uruguay
Angus es super epecial
Bon Scott...One of the best frontman ever.

Just bloody tremendous

Best of the best rock n roll you'll ever see.👍
Too many bands these days forget that no matter how good they are , they are still ENTERTAINMENT . Angus puts on a proper SHOW .
I'm 66 years old and I still absolutely LOVE this guy!
Perfect!
yep. They rocked big time. Awesome.
Angus was the king when it came to a visual performance and a damn good lead guitar player
He's been doing that same strip tease act from the 70s. He just doesn't do full moon anymore, revealing logo or flag drapped boxers. Show business makes people come back
How did Angus Young's head and neck survived the 70s?
Dean Konstantian Right on 🤘
cocaine
speed and heroin lol
i think he had a deal with the devil, "let me rock like hell and i´m yours". after a very great punk-concert (nomeansno) i felt like a bird, which is flying straight to a window, for 3 days i can´t keep my head up, no chance, but it was worth it, every f***ing minute. rock on \m/
lol
This, imo, is the ultimate rock n roll mantra. Based on Chuck Berry, blues, and badassity turned up to 12 and played at 78. Decipher that youngins
Yes
I agree and it took me 40 years to discover it
My father was told “turn that crap punk rock off” at a party in 77’ when he played the LTBR album. Safe to say I’m still in disbelief 😂
look at the fun the boys are having on stage.... what a life!😁👌👌👌
Так то жизнь прекрасная, штука..
An orgasmic journey into the past. As if I was there. Every moment a time capsule into the past. Love them for all time.....
+1 💥
I turned 21 in 1978 and my late older brother bought me tickets to see AC/DC in St. Louis, MO. and again in KCMO where we lived. What a time we had!! I can't believe it was 38 years ago. My Bro passed away in 1992 and I miss the hell out of him but this is one great memory I'll have forever.
Fuck yea man
Brilliant story.
Bless you and you dear bro
Rock on man..and your brother also.
such a little man with so much energy. thats why i like angus
The same with Bon lol a little man with a hell of a powerful voice and a badass
Never ceases to amaze! The pinnacle of blues infused to metal extravaganza!
No one can and will never come close to Bon Scott. Persona or talent. The Man was a gift to the music world. Gone way too soon.
RIP.
Probably one of Angus' BEST performances in my opinion. What a GOD.
The energy Angus has could power a city...unbelievable!!
😂
A planet
Let there be Bon! One of the best!
He is the Energizer Bunny in disguise .
Lo mejor ❤❤❤❤❤
I saw them twice in 1979... WOW!
I am so glad that I got to see Bon Scott before he died. Best EVER!!! 👧
Christ alive, this is raw as fuck and tight as hell...top of their game and utterly utterly brilliant...I can’t tell you how much I love this...there will never be another band like them.....👏👏👏👏
GOAT with Bon
Bon Scott Incridible crazy best
You got that right!
Can only be original once.. And this is original lineup.. SO good!
Meant that there would never be a band like this classic line up...the B.Johnson years were good but Bon Scott was a different level....and this is pure gold...👏👏👏🎸
One of rock’s greatest live performances!
Thankfully I saw them 3 times live between 78 and 79.The band killed it every time. Bon was a pirate and a force of nature!
This is simply the standard by which all other rock is judged. I mean, look at angus... he's pouring every single ounce of himself into this. Just an awesome performance.
Bon knows exactly when to step back n stop being the frontman, beautiful
Bon is still performing even when standing at the back waiting to sing. He was a far better front man than he gets credit for. AC/DC lost more than just a singer when he died.
This Performance should have over 100 million views.
Бон Скот на!!!!
It just may get there.
what ever you do, please don't say they're underrated......there's always a pea brain that says this or that is "underrated" in every video
Let's go for over 20 million. Now it's at 17 million!
@@gtamediaproductions1 17000001, I just watched! 😁
He was still a teen when the band first started
Giovanni Shoxx chuck berry strut
Angus holds the record for the longest and hardest headbanging while ripping on guitar in history
Ac/dc is one of the few bands that sound better live then on the CDs. Esp this song God damn the guitar sounds raw
Led Zeppelin sounds better live also.
That guitar sound is Gibson and Marshall.
i would also add Deep Purple and Lynyrd Skynyrd..
John Smith ,.
Iron Maiden sounds better live too. For me AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Pink Floyd for ever! All different but brilliant at their craft 😎🎶
This is the greatest live performance of all time!
Soooooo fucking heavy
Listen to Malcolm’s tone and beating the shit out of his strings. The whole mix is awesome, but Malcolm’s tone/playing is frickin raw power baby!
What a song, with two brothers that never stop playing the guitar. You can't beat ACDC
The Real acdc
Not now with the new singer
Not the same never ever
We will never see the bands like this again CLASS
No you are right
The greatest LIVE album ever recorded. The performance, recording, mix, and master are literally flawless. The End.
This is actually a different mix to the original version. I’d give my left testicle to hear the entire record remixed like this lol
@@User-jk8wq No sir, I believe this IS the same mix used on the LIVE album, "If You Want Blood You Got It" that was recorded from this exact concert.
@@michaelyolch79 It’s definitely the same performance, no question about that, but if you listen closely the bass guitar has a lot more hi-midrange aggression in this version. Also, the snare drum is a lot more aggressive and in-your-face if you know what I mean. Either way, If You Want Blood is a masterpiece of live rock n roll!
I've a live performance on CD in my player forever my go to Rock Bon Scott AC/DC is by far the Best Rock and Roll EVER !!!!
I'm 51 and this song just makes me want to jump up and dance all over the walls, ceiling, non-stop. So much energy.

I swear if I’m feeling a little unmotivated I can watch this video and see bon’s BAness and angus pure dedication giving it 100% every cell in his 5 ft frame and I’m good to go!! 🤘
me too man
I'm more impressed with the drums and bass keeping the beat for 8 minuets straight......
Only God would know how much practice you need to keep it so.
as a drummer this song is a bitch! so fun though
not quite. starting at 6:00 they've been stoped
that is the magic of ACDC. rhythm section doesn't get better, so on point.
Михаил Лепихин just look at the live from river plate where phill playing this for more than 10 minutes :D
Holy shitballs!!!!! Best live performance EVER. ACDC kicks the shit outta every other band. I almost had a seizure just watching this
My favorite version of Let there be Rock. From my favorite rock live album.
AC/DC in Full Brutal Fuckin Flow, No one I mean no one , second to None , especially with Bon from 77 to 79 they were untouchable Best Live Band EVER , I Mean Ever 😎👏👏
Listen to Powerage every day , never gets old , unlike me 😃
We Aussie kids were rockin to Bon and ACDC from 1975. They played live all over Australia in some small venues. Bloody awesome.
