I saw an interview where he admitted to never being close to Lemmy and I would bet the house he had plenty of opportunity to become close to him if he'd wanted... And my money is on that James didnt know about Lemmy's rabid love of methamphetamines for a while. I mean, you dont just spend a few years wishing you were another person (James admitted his AJFA cut was directly motivated by wanting to actually be Lemmy) to downplaying their influence on you.
This will forever show the respect Lemmy had with all of these bands that came after. Even though Metallica early surpassed the popularity and sales of Motorhead, they still looked like kids jamming with him.

I was there. This was the highlight of the night for me. Had no idea it was going to happen. Great night for sure. One of the two friends I went to this show with died in a car crash a few years ago, so this is a pretty special show in retrospect.
Me and a mate drove 5 hours to see Lamb of God live, didn't really give a shit about Metallica, but they put on one of the best live shows I have ever witnessed. When Lemmy came out I came in my pants. 100% worth the drive.
I had the honor to see Motörhead live for ONE time, on one of their last concerts before...the tragedy. I was 15 years old during that time, I held a presentation about Motörhead in my class after that and everyone loved it! After that, with the last slide being a picture of me stage diving towards the band with the Motörhead Logo in the background, I instantly bought tickets for their next concert, which was schechuled in February 2016...I was taking a dump, when I read the news and let me tell you, if I weren't sitting on the toilet that moment, I would've shit my pants. This is the best METALLICA video ever! I've never been a big fan of Metallica. I've ALWAYS loved Motörhead and Lemmy! But, this is one of the top five most respectable moments for them! Mad props to Metallica for this.

Had floor seats at this show, stood about 4 people back from where James was singing from most of the night. Crowd went NUTS when Lemmy came on, nobody was expecting that at all. I did wake up hoarse the next day from yelling. 2nd best arena show I've ever been to, Metallica really knows how to work a room of 20,000 people, crowd was STUPID LOUD. Man did they play tight and the sound was AWESOME.
