As a drummer myself for almost 20 years, what Chris Slade did here is legendary. Like absolutely insane from how clean he kept that going and for so long. I’ve seen this video hundreds of times and it still blows my mind. He was the best addition to that band at the time, after I heard him on the records and these live shows. Was never huge fan of Phil Rudd
Mind you I am no musician. Chris seems like a better technical player the Phil. But I like Rudd better, it seems to have more of a bounce with him back there. I think the live at river plate of this song sounds better with Phil.
@@Rylie307 I agree with you completely. This song sounds better with Phil Rudd because he was the drummer when it was made. Chris Slade is a better technical player, but Phil Rudd looks more like a rocker and has better sound for what AC⚡DC wants to achieve. From 7:17 - 9:10, just look at these three great musicians holding it down for almost two minutes. 4:38 listen to how powerful Malcolm holds down that A chord. So sad he’s gone. I’m forever grateful for how he has influenced me as a guitar player. RIP Malcolm we salute you!
The ONLY reason that Angus could be so flamboyant on stage is that Malcolm & Slade are so solid. Just holding down the line. Also Malcolm's guitar work is just as much about the space in between each chord or riff as the chords & riffs themselves.
Indeed. They say the most intelligent are most prone to dementia. That must have been hard on the band hiding his dementia until it was just impossible to do. RIP Malcolm
I play drums, and I must say the way Slade hits that hi-hat, just awesome. Never seen anything like it, and I love Nicko McBrian and Danny Carey. Polyrythms bla bla bla, Slade is pure legend with his hi-hat here!

This is truly iconic , the definition of rock and roll , each Musican in this band went 110 percent. When I first introduced my young kids to music I showed my children this concert I told them that this was “ rock and roll”
Chris slade is AMAZING at keeping a drum beat REALLY fast .
He’s my idol
Chris Slade is one of my favourite musicians of all time, his performance at Donington was one of the reasons I got into drumming. One of the best fellow Welsh musicians to ever grace the land! He Casts a gargantuan shadow over twats like Phil Campbell from Motorhead! Everyone should be like Chris. :)
Why the hate for Phil Campbell though? Genuinely asking
Phil Campbell was a cracking drummer why bad mouth him?
The best concert in my life history, there is only and unique AC/DC . R.I.P. Malcolm.
The fuel, the audience.
The carburetor, Brian Johnson.
The distributor, rhythm and bass. The spark, Angus Young. The timing chain and engine, the who hangs out with the band.THE DRUMMER...... CHRIS SLADE!!!
the best tey never had... i love the older but chris is another level
Rock out to this everyday, Chris is a beast of a drummer. AC/DC....FOREVER!!!
BobbyBeGood420 AC/DC* xd

Mr Slade is a fucking machine!
Two words .......Killer drummer!
slade rules
Henrik Scherrebeck nah if you can play this for 6 times in a row which is nearly 2 hours that's a killer drum lol I still have yet to know if someone could Last that long lol.
Don't believe me? Seems like you don't workout lol.
Didn't got tired after playing rock band acdc version 6 times in a row lol
Bowens92 He played this 90 mins into the gig lol He is a beast
Bill Ward is better
Or: MACHINE GUN
from Australia RIP Malcolm and Bon....they were a pub band back in the 70s who took on the world!!!!
And Won! Big Style....R.I.P Bon and Malcolm.
It's been said before but CHRIS SLADE is absolutely killing it here. My arms would fall off after 5 minutes...
There is no drummer that can play non stop like this on earth full stop.
Exactly, and it kinda looks like Angus knew that was the case ... when he did his solo at the end, he gave Slade a chance to recover for the final blast. Incredible.
ACDC to the Max
9:39 and then after all that, he hits another gear!!! Go Chris
He’s a drumming machine. Awesome!
It's amazing to me that this was already 30 years ago. What an absolutely incredible performance! Chris Slade was drumming at a fast pace for over 11 minutes without a break... And never missed a single beat!
Chris Slade proved that the best version of "Let There Be Rock" is when he's on drums
10000000% Rudd is a boring for boring simple drum fans
@westernsellers9148 hahahaha absolutely right mate haha😂
Best live performance ever recorded, Brian's voice was at its best.
River Plate
@@ismaelkjj River Plate ? Brian's voice declined since the Ballbreaker tour. It's still nice, what not really what is used to be.
Brian did good but the original person who song it was better (forgot his name)
Still, there isn’t a better fit for this genre than Brian Johnson. Even with the state his voice is in now
Evil Koala Brian sings better that Bon ??? Get the f... outta here!
4:38 listen to how powerful Malcolm holds down that A chord. So sad he’s gone. I’m forever grateful for how he has influenced me as a guitar player. RIP Malcolm we salute you!
RIP MALCOLM YOUNG
The ONLY reason that Angus could be so flamboyant on stage is that Malcolm & Slade are so solid. Just holding down the line. Also Malcolm's guitar work is just as much about the space in between each chord or riff as the chords & riffs themselves.
Indeed. They say the most intelligent are most prone to dementia. That must have been hard on the band hiding his dementia until it was just impossible to do. RIP Malcolm
AC/DC IS MAL YOUNG. PERIOD
I play drums, and I must say the way Slade hits that hi-hat, just awesome. Never seen anything like it, and I love Nicko McBrian and Danny Carey. Polyrythms bla bla bla, Slade is pure legend with his hi-hat here!
I love how Cliff plays little fills and licks around the chords too. And when he's not, he's pounding that bass line during the vocal section. So awesome💪🏻🙌🏻
Love seeing him in the background bobbing his head to Chris's nonstop beat!
I can just listen to Chris, Cliff & Malcolm play the same beat over & over!!
Malcolm is sadly missed..He's a big player in a band esp.to his brother, Angus Young! Rest in peace Malcolm. You rock in heaven!🎸🎶🎵💞
Slade is a beast!!!
David I know right
he really is
It's as almost sacrilegious but I really like Chris Slade more than Phil Rudd
Steve Croissant I agree but gotta love Phil playing with cigarette hanging from his mouth. Lol
He's a machine gun😈
Today I cried for Malcolm, thanks mate, you are truly missed my brother. AC/DC, long live the KINGS.
Fantastic, what a huge charisma Chris has
