I would love to see benchmarks in VR. My understanding is in MSFS the 3090 really distances itself from the 3080 as things get more taxing.

great video, thanks! in an ideal world where availability isn't an issue, i'd go for 3080 every time, but I just couldn't get one in two months of trying. I eventually caved and got a 3090 FE. Lot more than I'd ever want to spend, but I'm actually digging the BFGPU :D
atm in my country the rtx3090 is 1700 and the rtx 3080 is 1300 in that case the rtx3090 is worth it imo
Paying over 750$ for a gpu is way too much

I managed to grab a 3090 on Newegg in December. I sold my 3080. Since I game at 4K up to 144hz, that 17% is very noticable.

1080p is ugly compare to 1440p but between 1440p and 2160 is no such big visible diffrence

Double the price at RRP. in the UK there isn't a 3070 or 3080 available at any retailer and a handful available from chancers selling via Ebay and Amazon for vastly inflated prices. Even the 3090 is hard to find, but there are a few in stock. Given my gaming is mostly SMG Risk and Euro Truck Simulator, I'm going to wait out the stock shortages. My Quadro NVS410 limps along at 4K on low settings, but that's not going to get me to spend £1700 on a graphics card.

With the rumored RTX 3080ti being basically a 3090 with less vram (more or less) coming in at $1000+ the 3080 still seems like the only card I'd really want to get, hopefully I can soon.

Honestly, it's a little unfair you didn't disclaim that you're testing factory OC 3090 vs a reference 3080.
Other reviwers posted a only a 10% difference if you do like for like versions.

So given how crazy the market is right now and will probably remain for some time, do you think it's now worth getting a 3090 instead of a 3080? After all, the real market price between the two has really narrowed, and 3090 has 24gb gram and is more futureproof.
A single 3090 is literally more expensive than all of my gadgets combined. Lol.
On a more serious note though, the 3090 is a fairly small increase in gaming performance for the price, not a full-chip gpu, nor gets official driver support for professional workflows. I can't help but grow suspicious about a possible 3090ti or an Ampere Titan with more vram and a full chip on the horizon. Buyers beware.
For that kind of use case, just buy the Quadro, since I highly doubt they will bring a Titan this gen.
Or maybe they could do something like the Titan V focused solely for non-gaming use

@@sushimshah2896 That's my point, NVIDIA talked as if this card was a professional grade card, when in reality, it's just a glorified 3080ti for lols.
And there is still some chance they might bring Titan or some kind of upgrade version; Otherwise it doesn't make sense that the 3090 is not a full-chip GPU, and has the same amount of VRAM as the Titan RTX.

It looks like 3090 is only worth it on MS Flight Simulator and Control. However, MS Flight Simulator is shockingly good, so that alone might make it a worthwhile purchase. Too bad I don't have the money for a 3090 right now (and there aren't any in stock either).
to be honest the only reason to get a 3090 is if you are gonna train deep learning models, where the extra vram can be very useful.
3x 4K monitor setup and the 3090 has its place in gaming for sure.
Meanwhile I'm here doing intense 3D work for a living on a strix 980 :D
Luckily I’m not a professional yet, so I won’t be needing this as of now. Maybe in the future when you’re hopefully still here you’ll have a nice review of newer products.

I’ve got a Palit 3090 it cost £1600 but I’ve got one fuck the money this launch was a waste i got locked into a 3080 preorder which I cancelled then I had a 3090 ordered other very they cancelled my order on the day of delivery after I cancelled another 3090 pre order with scan. 3 orders that let me down. Then I ordered on the 4th of October a palit 3090 with Amazon they said it was expected the end of October to end of November. It came through 2 days ago! Is it worth the money? Is it fuck but I got what I wanted thanks to my impulsive buying!

Call me ignorant, but why test an overclocked 3090 with a founders edition 3080? wouldn't you want both to be FE? OR both overclocked?

RTX 3080 doesn't support NVLink (SLI). Nvidia supports NVLink only for RTX 3090.

The 3090 certainly doesn’t give you as much value as the 3080. It’s nowhere near double times the power. But I think nvidia sees it as if some people are wanting the best performance. There probably the same people who can afford and wouldn’t mind the massive price bump as long as they’re getting the maximum performance available
It's to squeeze money out of people who need the VRAM. If you need that extra VRAM you need to get the 3090 since there are no alternatives.

Bruh here the 3080 is around 1000 euro while the 3090 is 1900-2400 fuck no im paying double the price for such a small increase. I dont do any other work on it though, for that purpose i could understand it.

Go easy on me as I have minimal knowledge and i just want to start top end from the get go.
Rather get a 3080 and save your money. The 3090 is more of a workstation gpu and doesn’t improve game performance much. But I got a pc with similar specs for 3000 dollars but it’s really inflated due to tariffs in my country and it includes tax. Prebuilt will probably land in that range though I recommend building custom
Also 64gb of ram is kinda overkill. Unless you edit large 8k footage it’s not worth it. Get 32gb at this budget
Preferably get a RYZEN 9 5900x. It delivers way better performance in everything and consumes less power
Liquid cooling is necessary. You need a 360mm radiator to keep the 9 series processors cool
Look I would expect 2000 dollars up. Probably around 3000-3500 dollars. Probably on the high end because of prebuilt and what country you live in. If you cut the things I tell you can save a lot of money without losing performance. Maybe 3000 dollars if you follow my spec

700 bucks for an extra 5 to 10 fps isnt good at all. 10% with these cards is at most 15fps if your lucky but typically most games the 3090 gets 5fps more in 1440p gaming. So no no its not good its shit

yea 3090 to this day is still a beast of a gpu, the 4090 on the other hand is a god level, overkilling gpu for pc gaming and mad too expensive. the 4090 is literally a 4k card. im so glad i settled with a 3080; worth the money and performance, and i play on 1080p anyway SO IM GOOD
