Why do all the Nvidia graphics cards have 1gb last like the 1080ti has 12gb of ram and the 2080ti have 11gb of ram and the 3080ti has 10gb of ram?

    • @ACE112ACE112

Waqas Farid I wouldn't. I feel like egpus are still really bad value. You aren't getting the full performance of the gpu when you hook it up to a laptop.

@@ACE112ACE112 Depends on your use case. There's not as much as bottleneck for 3d rendering tasks. You do make a valid point. For me personally, I think the only other option would be a small form factor PC - which means I'd have to spend a minimum of 1k on top of the GPU.

If you own a 2080ti already you're still gonna have one of the most powerful GPUs out there since most people will probably still have the 2060,or even get 3050/3060s. Yall may have a double priced ~3060ti-3070 but as long as you put it to good use then it'll pay itself off.

Thank you so much for doing this. I have a 2080 Ti and honestly can't say I would upgrade. The 3080 is definitely faster, but seeing the 2080 Ti perform so well at 4K really makes it seem pointless to upgrade. Thanks again. I'll be holding out till the 4000 series for sure.

    • @averyn34
      @averyn34 2 года назад +2

the problem with holding out for 4000 series is likely youll end up with the same issue as what happened to the 3000 series. None will be available and by the time prices start coming down again it'll almost be time for 5000 series and might as well wait for 5000 series rinse repeat. Until companies step up production to deal with the fact that scalpers and miners buy up all stock as soon as stock exists (which is unlikely cause they're all clever greedy little bastards) there will be constant shortages.
I myself am selling my 2080TI for 700 bucks and getting a 3080 for 1100 so essentially 400 dollars for a newer better card and of course im getting the 12gb edition of the 3080 so im not giving up any VRAM and even gaining a little.

I guess for most 2080ti owners...they own their graphic card and game at close to 4K.
The 3080 offers 12-20 FPS over the 2080ti. At 700-£1000 it’s a hard sell, the OC 2080ti may make that even harder.....if you can sell your 2080ti and off set the 3080 cost it may be worth it. 12-20 FPS will still cost 500-£1000.

I have a 2080Ti in my rig at the moment and might consider upgrading to a 30-series, but only after I see what Apple's M1X release looks like later in 2021. I got burned purchasing the 2080Ti. It was a costly purchase even before the 30-series was announced, and that was a hard pill to swallow. So basically, nVidia screwed 2080Ti owners TWICE. Need to be more cautious about when I open up my wallet from here on out. Hoping the M1X will do to nVidia what nVidia did to 20-series customers . . .

I guess that ironically, that's the best time to buy 2080ti if you can find a good deal for an used one, at least in my country. In Poland 3000 series is so dramatically overpriced (like 2 times the starting price - and we're talking here about low tier models, like Ventus or Eagle), that it absolutely doesn't make any sense to invest your money into it. I mean, less than 30 frames worse (but even then, more than enough) performance for twice less price tag? Count me in for 2080ti until all of those stock shortages will come to a past.

I hope laptops with higher end graphics cards like the 2080 or 3070 will be more affordable in the future. well because the 3070 is going to be like $500 and the 3060 will be even cheaper than that.

  • @Zebra66

The real question is if there is a perceivable difference. 127fps vs 139fps doesn't sound like much (and it's not if all else is equal) but res and refresh rate are not the only factors.
Which has a more detailed image 1080p 120fps vs 4k 60fps? Answer = it depends on the bit rate. If all else is equal they would be about the same.
A 2k digital theater movie file at 24fps is over twice as detailed as a 4k blu ray at 24fps because the uncompressed theater movie files have a way higher bit rate. I.e. the same movie would take 500gb at the theater vs 200gb on the 4k disc.
It's about how much information gets to your eyes each second. The key point is... doesn't the 30 series have some additional advantages re frame drawing speed that is somewhat equivalent to a higher bitrate? And lower lag (which may be perceived as "smoothness")?

I overclocked my 2080ti to run at 2100 Mhz (unstable if i go any higher without applying a concerning amount of voltage, which would degrade the card faster) and used a nzxt g12 adapter to cool it with a 360mm aio cooler and used liquid metal thermal compound, at full load and prolonged use it doesnt go above 42°C. It performs extremely well and beat quite a few 3080s (probably bad runs though) when i used 3d benchmark. The 2080ti is still a very powerful card, and putting some effort keep the orriginal steep price (i got mine secondhand) somewhat worth it.

The upgrade is meaningful for people coming from older generations like Maxwell or Pascal. Turing was horrible in terms of performance per dollar didn't feel like a regular generational upgrade at all. Ampere is better at that, if you ignore the power efficiency. An upgrade is supposed to improve all the metrics like performance per dollar and power efficiency. Sadly, Pascal was the last gen that actually did that.

I just wanted to mention that the 3080 prices are out of date due to the gpu being out of stock and when it goes back into stock it will come with inflated prices (900 $ / 1000 $) and in relation to 2080ti in my country it is already possible to find it on the market new for ($ 900 / $ 1000). Due to the long wait on the part of consumers for the 3080, which will probably only be in stock from next year, it has led many of the consumers to start making high offers for the used 2080ti (800 $ / 900 $) I speak from my own experience due to the fact that already I was offered $ 850 for my 2080ti but I declined the offer because I don't intend to buy a 3080/3090 but rather wait a little longer for the new 4000 series and then sell the 2080ti because the leap in performance from the 2080ti to the new generation doesn't justifies upgrading even if the prices are attractive.

Its the best card on the market right now since you can get em for literally nothing (500-650usd).
Ill keep my 3080 since there is no reason at all to upgrade from a 3080-3090 if you play in 1440p, hell it even works more than fine for 60fps 4k gaming.

If you have a 2080 TI, in my opinion, you are better off keeping it, because it is still one of the fastest GPUs out there, even compared to 3080. Especially if you can overclock it, and there are even better OC models of the 2080 TI which are water cooled. Of course, the 3080 is better, but you need to ask yourself if a performance ranging from +5% to about 20% is worth paying for a GPU, which is just overpriced as the 2080 TI was - 700 dollars is a scenario which was true for single digits users (and video reviewers got the 3080 sent to them a masse). 3080 currently is costing 1000 euros and more in Europe, and those models which are "listed" lower, are long out of stock. That said, there is still the problem many 3080 currently have with the poscaps, which Nvidia solved by lowering the clocks of 3080 in VC Bios, reducing the lead on 2080 TI. Considering the 2080 TI will be still slightly faster than 3070 in most games, due to better bandwidth and memory speed, upgrading to 3080 from 2080 TI is not really worth it. Of course, if you are coming from a lower performance or older card, its different, and 3080 is great.

The thing is who cares if at 4k the difference is more pronounced between the 3080 and the 2080 Ti? If the 3080 gives you 27 FPS and the RTX 2080 Ti gives you 3 FPS in something, it doesn't change the fact that they are both not good enough for 4k. Being better doesn't mean being good. This is what nVidia has been pushing a lot including with the 3090 and 8k. Yeah it may be the fastest card at 8k, but it still sucks. Maybe it sucks less. But it still sucks.
