Please just complete the nightmare album, you guys have reacted to a few songs off the album now. Nightmare is one of their top 3 albums. Right with their self-titled and city of evil
the meaning behind the song is they felt like god hated them after the rev died so they made this song, they were done with god because he took their best friend so they wanted to make something to show that they were upset with god, i think they stated it in a interview around the time nightmare came out
M Shadows screamed a lot on the first two albums, but went mostly clean vocals from City of Evil onward. He still occasionally does though. If you want a song that features both, try "Unholy Confessions" or "Chapter Four"!
I mean...those two are good, but I personally prefer things like And all things will end, Second heartbeat, Eternal rest and Desecrate Trough Reverence they've very underrated, but for a first time into their metal core era Unholy confessions is a decent first pick, but from WTF I like the other songs more
My favorite thing about this song was always the fact that the end of so far away blends into this clean intro so perfectly. Also do save me, arguably the best song they've made imo
You guys also have to remember Nightmare was 50/60% done but MIKE PORTNOY was the one who came in to track the drums for the album after The Rev passed away (thank you Mike) RIP JIMMY Yes this album is a masterpiece 🤘🏻
So M. Shadows had an idea when A7x was making their second album, Waking the Fallen, that he would get away from screaming because his favorite vocalists like Phil Anselmo, Axl Rose, etc. weren't screaming, they just had very gritty singing voices and he liked that. His thought process was, since the first album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, was all screaming (except for 1 very notable song and certain parts of other songs), their second album would be half screaming, half singing, and by the third album, which would later become City of Evil, he would only be singing. Since then, he has almost exclusively sang on their albums, except for a few one offs, God Hates Us being one of the best examples of this to date. I would love for you guys to check out one of their really old tracks just to hear young Matt. Not only will you most likely hear his screaming, but you will also hear the higher pitched, less weathered tone of his voice before his multiple surgeries. I would suggest "We Come Out at Night" from their first album and "Remenissions" from their second. Both songs have a good mix of his harsh and clean vocals so you can compare and contrast to what he sounds like today.
sadly Rev wasnt the one who recorded drums for this album cause he passed before they got into the studio. he did do all the tracks on an electric kit and Mike Portnoy. Mike did take all the demos and build off that tho and try to keep it as close to the Revs as he could
This song (and this entire album) was recorded after the Rev passed. He helped write the structure of the songs and had rough recordings of drum parts but ultimately Mike Portnoy and his interpretation is who you are hearing in this song.
I so love this song. I saw them live for this tour 3 times. Emotions were so high because the Rev had passed and it was so rough for them. This is one of my fav songs of theirs.
Im about to double check yalls list but just in case... if you havent done "The Stage" by A7X you absolutely should. Impactful message, great song, and a bit more of a classical structure for mysic which is a very interesting angle.
Oh absolutely they should check it out! And also keep in mind this was released right before the 2016 election when political tensions were high in this country. I feel like the context is super important with that video.
You guys like Will Ramos, you have to jump on Brand of Sacrifice. Kyle Anderson is another top vocalist with Will. The song Exodus shows his range well.
I'd love to see you guys just do basically all of Avenged tbh. Nightmare, the self titled and City of Evil all have such fucking bangers from start to finish. And a lot of different vibes while still being very obviously still Avenged which I love.
After The Rev passed, A7X asked Mike Portnoy (one of Rev’s favorite drummers) to to help them record the drums for this album and tour with them while they finished and searched for a new drummer. Im using this info as a segway to recommend that you guys listen to Dream Theater (Mike Portnoy’s band), every single member of DT are gods in their own instruments
Unholy Confessions was the Ah Ha moment of the M Shadows screaming for me. Like wow this is dope. Unfortunately for me I was late to A7X and had to go backwards in their catalog
Anything off of their first album is a good choice. "We come out at night" and "breaking their hold" are 2 so ha I would suggest from their first album.
Kind of a random recommendation, I was reminded of this song and thought you two might really appreciate. Otherside by Macklemore and then Starting Over by Macklemore, in that order. They kinda go together.
For a slower more beautiful song from avenged sevenfold, you should checkout out “Warmness On The Soul”. The Rev may have been their drummer, but he can also play the piano, which was showcased in the song
Awesome song! I will say that the lyric video did get one part wrong, and that is the part where it says "roar" it's actually "war" PS: where do I get that rykerroad shirt?!
Shadows doesn't like using screams a lot because they are so easy to write. He wants to challenge himself to write interesting singing parts from what I've heard. At least back in the City of Evil days.
Its not the Rev on drums its Mike Portnoy . The Rev passed away before the record was done. The Rev records the song nightmare and he went to the studio without telling Anybody and record fiction and he passed away few Days or hours later
You wanna hear screamy screamy Matt I hear? Gotta do some stuff from Waking the Fallen!! I recommend Second Heartbeat, Eternal Rest, Clairvoyant Disease and Chapter Four! The entire album is cover to cover bangers, not a single skippable track on there! Fun fact Chapter Four is about Cain and Abel from the Bible's Genesis Chapter 4! Such incredible music from these guys throughout their entire discography but I am partial to the early days! R.I.P. FoREVer, Deathbats Rise!
You guys should react to some Wednesday 13.. his songs have a surprisingly big range for being horror based like Avenged Sevenfold like they have stuff that would classify as punk n some that's chunky ass metal like this song n some that are more stylistic of Alice Cooper n some that are almost like someone woke up one day thought "what if Johnny Cash wrote about horror?"
Just so you know the Rev is not on this album, this is Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater, Mike did the entire album but used a lot of the Rev’s parts that he had pre recorded before his death
Ending the song the same way it began is could be just a stylistic choice, but it can also be interpreted as the song goes on forever. A7X has done this a few times.
I'm gonna start a journey called "Ask these guys to react to "Mother I Sober" and "Father time" bye Kendrick Lamar in every video until they do". Video 2, guys. Great reaction, btw!
I’m only here to see what Eric is drinking g out of 😂 love A7X In remember when this album came out. They came to Charlotte nc for Ozz fest on nightmare tour and omg that concert was INSANE
If you guys wanna hear good songs with screams I recommend And all things will end. Truly underrated song that not many people know about. Also other good one is Eternal rest (I don't like recommending mainstream songs I always enjoy their underrated songs, but still since I see loads of Chapter four and Unholy confessions these two are still good)
Check out some songs from "Diamonds in the Rough" (St. James) or "The Stage" (Exist). Tbh I'd like to see A7X's whole discography, but we will hopefully get there eventually 😂
I don't think I've heard this one. It was very Pantera-ish which I liked. I had seen in a documentary that The Rev would often do alot of backing harsh vocals. I wasn't sure if I was hearing him or M Shadows with those screams.
Hey Eric! Holy crap man! I literally just got up and am having my morning coffee... did you lose weight? You look amazing man! Keep on keeping on you guys. Love watching your content.
Eric needs to see the live version at Rock Am Ring 2011
1 second this. That live scream! One of their best lives!!!
I was just about to say that as well
This!
Me too
I was about to say that they should
Please just complete the nightmare album, you guys have reacted to a few songs off the album now. Nightmare is one of their top 3 albums. Right with their self-titled and city of evil
Agreed! Save Me is their best song ever!
Agreed 👍
Nightmare is their best album imo
Fiction is one of the greatest too. Written by one of the drumming greats, RIP the rev
Agreed🔥
the meaning behind the song is they felt like god hated them after the rev died so they made this song, they were done with god because he took their best friend so they wanted to make something to show that they were upset with god, i think they stated it in a interview around the time nightmare came out
M Shadows screamed a lot on the first two albums, but went mostly clean vocals from City of Evil onward. He still occasionally does though. If you want a song that features both, try "Unholy Confessions" or "Chapter Four"!
Absolutely required A7X material!
he had alot of vocal issues also
Both should be mandatory listens for A7x fans
I mean...those two are good, but I personally prefer things like And all things will end, Second heartbeat, Eternal rest and Desecrate Trough Reverence they've very underrated, but for a first time into their metal core era Unholy confessions is a decent first pick, but from WTF I like the other songs more
@mobafan3713 I really wish we could hear one of these tracks live here and there. Rotate Unholy Confessions out for one once in awhile.
My favorite thing about this song was always the fact that the end of so far away blends into this clean intro so perfectly.
Also do save me, arguably the best song they've made imo
❗️PLEASE DO❗️
“SAVE ME” By Avenged sevenfold. The lyrics are so meaningful and they pay tribute to The “REV”
They should do fiction. It is fully made by the rev. It was the final song he ever made
Yes! One of my favorites!
What a masterpiece!! It's a must react!!
@@Bigchinckalishiouslove that song
Absolutely. "Save Me" is top 5 songs ever created.
You guys also have to remember
Nightmare was 50/60% done but
MIKE PORTNOY was the one who came in to track the drums for the album after The Rev passed away (thank you Mike) RIP JIMMY
Yes this album is a masterpiece 🤘🏻
He did such a good job working off the scratch tracks. This definitely feels like the Rev. rest in peace jimmy ❤
The rev was so influenced by portnoy it was almost as if the rev was playing anyway. Those fills man are just amazing.
You have to see the live version of this song, it's so sick
We need a reacting to the stage and more in this moment like blood
So M. Unholy Confessions is a great A7X scream song

Shadows screaming on the first 2 albums were in a higher range. This song has a lower scream, which took me by surprise when I first heard it.
This song (and this entire album) was recorded after the Rev passed. He helped write the structure of the songs and had rough recordings of drum parts but ultimately Mike Portnoy and his interpretation is who you are hearing in this song.
You guys need to see this song live in rock am ring 2011, you need to see M. Shadows screaming, it's out of this world!!!!! Please check it out!!!!
That mf 12 seconds scream just gets me every time man. I love it
I would highly suggest Cosmic
I so love this song. I saw them live for this tour 3 times. Emotions were so high because the Rev had passed and it was so rough for them. This is one of my fav songs of theirs.

This song hits real different live. Good different. First time I got to see them I got to hear it and it was SO good.
YOU GOTTA WATCH THIS SONG LIVE FROM ROCK AM RING 2011 🤩
bro you guys NEED to see the Rock am ring version of this. M Shadows goes insane
u guys have to explore Waking the fallen (2003) album, they go wild on that album too
M. Shadows screamed like this on their first album Sounding The Seventh Trumpet(2001).
And Waking the fallen. Still STST is insane! Shattered by broken dreams is one of my favourite songs ever
You guys like Will Ramos, you have to jump on Brand of Sacrifice. Kyle Anderson is another top vocalist with Will. The song Exodus shows his range well.
I literally watch because Kyle validates me. We're all Kyle getting emotional (all emotions) 😂
the left guy is totally me whenever listen this song :D amazing song
good ear, I hadn't noticed that the chorus is a low scream and a high pitch superimposed
I'd love to see you guys just do basically all of Avenged tbh. Nightmare, the self titled and City of Evil all have such fucking bangers from start to finish. And a lot of different vibes while still being very obviously still Avenged which I love.
react to this song at rock am ring 2011, matt's voice is incredible!!!
My favourite avenged sevenfold song! Such a great track!
Holy shit is this one of their new songs god damn this goes hard!!!!
It’s an old song off the album nightmare
@@Hellavit damn really i guess i never hear this one before
Yes! More Avenged Sevenfold! Thanks guys! I was going to suggest this one!
Bro that riff is foookinggg NNNAASSZZTYYYYYYYYY BROOOOOO
you should definitely let him check out second heartbeat live in the lbc. it’s a banger man
Hell yeah!! Love some A7X
Unholy Confessions was the Ah Ha moment of the M Shadows screaming for me. Like wow this is dope. Unfortunately for me I was late to A7X and had to go backwards in their catalog
Great song
Gotta give Brompton Cocktail a listen. Its an eerie sing with a really catchy groove and melody to it
This has Pantera Great Southern Trendkill vibes written all over it
Anything off of their first album is a good choice. "We come out at night" and "breaking their hold" are 2 so ha I would suggest from their first album.
They have a Pantera vibe that's what got me into avenge sevenfold
holy Confessios also dope old song, then u hear the old shadows screams
Kind of a random recommendation, I was reminded of this song and thought you two might really appreciate. Otherside by Macklemore and then Starting Over by Macklemore, in that order. They kinda go together.
❤❤❤ please react to Forestella Bohemian Rasphody, heal the world, smooth criminal and so much more.
You gotta watch some live versions of this song. Shadows kills it
Such an underrated song!!
For a slower more beautiful song from avenged sevenfold, you should checkout out “Warmness On The Soul”. The Rev may have been their drummer, but he can also play the piano, which was showcased in the song
I think that was the second A7X song that I ever learned (after Critical acclaim)
Ah
Those days when Sevenfold were the kings of metalcore
Those days
U wanna hear Shadows scream
Listen to waking the fallen
Nice🤘🏼 I just really started giving A7x a chance and I thoroughly like everything I've heard🤌🏼
Please react to Smash Into Pieces - Arcadia! Or any of their songs really. They're such a good band and I think you'd both really enjoy them.
Holy hell that opening
I knowwww! 🥰
Been waiting for this one 🤟🏼👌🏼 You guys need to do Architects - These Colours Don’t Run 🤯🤯
Awesome song! I will say that the lyric video did get one part wrong, and that is the part where it says "roar" it's actually "war"
PS: where do I get that rykerroad shirt?!
Guys check out Acid rain or Planets preferably both, amazing stuff
This was Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater on drums. Not the Rev.
Shadows doesn't like using screams a lot because they are so easy to write. He wants to challenge himself to write interesting singing parts from what I've heard. At least back in the City of Evil days.
As always… another excellent reaction, boys!
u hav to appreciate portnoy's drumming in dis album.. awsom

You guys should do some songs off their new album, Cosmic and nobody are solid bangers.
I m not ready to die A7x
You guys need to see the 2011 rock am ring live version
Finally this song !!!
Not sure if Kyle knows all of their work or not but if so Eric needs to react to "critical acclaim" I feel like that would be a great one
M shadows did scream like this before check out the waking the fallen album its actually an incredible album
Nightmare drum recording was completed by Mike Portnoy
Hell yeah ❤

Great reaction, btw!
He used to scream a lot till he blew out his vocals and had to have surgery why his voice is so raspy. Now he doesn't do it as much
Not true
Totally recommend second heartbeat
Not the Rev on the drums unfortunately. Though he prolly wrote most of this song
I’m only here to see what Eric is drinking g out of 😂 love A7X In remember when this album came out. They came to Charlotte nc for Ozz fest on nightmare tour and omg that concert was INSANE
This song can be used as the total nightmare of the rev dying from an over dose
😲 LET'S GOOOO! 🤘❤️🔥🤘❤️🔥🤘❤️🔥🤘❤️🔥 🥁 🥁🥁🥁🥁😎 Who needs coffee, when you got this? 🤷♀️🤣
The title was meant to be “total nightmare” but for whatever reasons I can’t remember It was replaced.

Also other good one is Eternal rest (I don't like recommending mainstream songs I always enjoy their underrated songs, but still since I see loads of Chapter four and Unholy confessions these two are still good)

Bro just react this song live at Rock Am Ring 2011!
As a guitarist myself, I tried this song and it is NOT intuitive, but very fun to play once you know how
Ayy my guitarist bud🤘🎸🎸 rock the world my guy

Live version of this song bro
2:24 The Rev is not playing on this song. It's Mike Portnoy.
The rev is dead my guy
@@JackJack-c5w I know. That's what i meant. He is not playing on the song because he died during the demo sessions.
