Impossible to give just one song from Nightmare album. All Songs are a piece of art. "Welcome to the Family" and "God Hates us" are the more badass songs and "Save Me" (their masterpiece of this album) and "Victim" the more instrospective and progressive ones.
I remember seeing an interview with A7X and Portnoy where Portnoy actually asked if The Rev actually wrote the drums and planned on playing them because of how nuts they were.
“Save me” is my favorite song of all time, it’s honoring The Rev, as it was the last song he wrote, and it’s a masterpiece. It’s long, but 100% worth it.
This is my fav A7X song! Also fun fact its also M Shadows favorite song because the Rev was supposed to sing the majority of it before he passed. R.I.P.
My some was born the night the rev died. I saw them in concert a few months later. And they did a great tribute to the rev. He wrote half a song and Matt hade to finish the song and it’s beautiful especially live
I watch all your reactions. Avenged Sevenfold is the most talented rock band out there. Best group of musicians. Songs I love from them The Stage is one of their best with the best video. Hail to the King, and Nobody. Their hardest song is This Means War and the video follows one of their concerts. It makes you want to lift a car it’s hard af. Please please do This Means War
God Hates Us does not get the attention that it deserves, it is easily one of my favourite Avenged songs so I would *LOVE* to see you guys react to that!
My favorite song from this album The changes in the song from smooth and melodic to melt your face, is absolutely EPIC 🔥 A7X is a great band, they offer a variety of music styles, as they have gotten older they surely evolved, worth diving into more #foREVer RIP Jimmy The Rev 🌹 Your reaction when it changes up to heavier, was exactly like mine! PLEASE MORE NIGHTMARE MUSIC
One of my favorites!! If he hasn't heard Seize the Day yet then you absolutely MUST do a reaction on that one! The video is so damn good too I've lost count of how many times I've watched it over the years. Love that we are getting more A7X from yall!
I couldn't agree more. Seize The Day was the first song I ever hear by them and holds a special place in my heart. I've lost count how many times i have watched the video over the years and always seems to be my go to song from them
@@nitoshashepherd5629It was also the first A7X song I heard. The music video takes me back to my stupid girl high school days when I liked bad boys. 😂🤷♀️
I saw them in Minneapolis on the Nightmare tour in December 2011. The whole show was dedicated to The Rev. It hit hard because my brother had just died in September. Such a good concert. Black veil brides, asking Alexandria and Hollywood undead opened for them. Perfect concert.
This song is a CLASSIC!!! And again, (I sound like a broken record) it’s amazing live!!! I’ll send the short videos I recorded from the concert I attended back in October!!! Great reaction!
Avenged is known for constantly changing and experimenting with their sound, y’all gonna really enjoy if you dive deep into this band. Synyster Gates is fucking GOATed
I love how you both got the "pigeon head" after the solo, its that kind of song! Damn, i remember when 'Nightmare' came out, i listened to the whole album all day every day, such an amazing record!
This is my favorite song!! Not just of all their other songs but all songs. I've been listening to them since they first came out. This song has been dubbed their stairway to heaven by fans. I love the little things that they do in their music like in this one how he says "Gate" and "Awaits" with a little bit of a growl. In a little piece of heaven how they had a whole orchestra and Choir And how you can hear the subtle tone of the violins in the background of that song. They are incredible artists!!
OMFG, can't wait to see where this song goes with you guys..2:30 in🤣. Banger-ASSSSSS song, especially towards the end🤘🏻. I WISH you 2 would do this entire album to feel the emotion and progression, ESPECIALLY because of what happened during the making of it😢
“Save me” is a masterpiece of a song and probably the best in the Nightmare album. It’s the raw emotions of the band right after the Rev’s passing. The melody and the lyrics are mind blowing. Also “Fiction” is the last song the Rev created and sang and handed it in to be the last song of the nightmare album 3 days before he passed. And it is the last song of that album. It’s basically him singing goodbye to his friends. Extremely emotional and eerie. FoREVer 🤘
This song holds a special place in my heart. This song got my dad through stage 4 throat cancer. I remember him playing this song almost every day when he was going through his chemo treatments. I am so thankful that he’s still with us. Part of me believes this song helped save him 🤘🏻❤️ thank you guys for doing this song. My favorite reactors doing one of my favorite songs. A great early birthday present :) Edit: They always do this song live and I cry every time because of my dad
No freakin way!! I was watching some reactions to this song last night and checked to see if Ryker Road had covered it yet. This one of their most underrated songs IMO. It’s easily in my A7x top 5. Yes, more anything from Avenged Sevenfold.
Nightmare is the album that introduced me to Avenged Sevenfold, this song is one of my favorite songs by them. You guys made a great choice in reacting to this song, keep up the good work guys
You should check out Mattel on their new album! In an interview M Shadows stated they took old drum demos the Rev had from their self titled album that he didnt think would go well with the album.
Beast of a song Masterpiece album No one knows what's coming in the middle section lol Not even 7X fans Great shit guys Do more Sevenfold..... ..please
The Rev was around to finish writing the whole album. Everything except for So Far Away obviously he was still putting everything he had into and the last song they finished was Fiction which is a true tragedy if and when you listen to it. Matt and Jimmy finished writing the song and shortly after is when the Rev passed so he just never ended up recording any of his parts with that task being taken over by Mike Portnoy as he left Dream Theater. God hates us is definitely an amazing song so I definitely check it out And as I mentioned Fiction is an incredible song by them as well but it hits best when you know its 2 things 1. Its a more mellow song focused on drums and piano and 2. That this was the last song the Rev poured everything he had into even with them using a demo voice recording of his that is admittedly a little bad but it was the last thing he ever did for them so they kept it
About Fiction, the Rev didn’t write the song with Matt. Matt’s voice etc come in later when they release the song cause the Rev handed in the demo and died three days later. When the Rev handed in the song to Matt he told him this was to be the last song of the album. That’s why in “So Far Away” Matt sings “a final song, a last request”. The Rev had named it “Death” originally then the band changed the name to Fiction. The song we hear in the album is a mix of the demo version and the studio version to honour the revs last vocals and his last playing.
This album is so good. It’s been years since I’ve listened to it but every time I hear it I remember how good it was. I would definitely say their best album
I just bought that same shirt today!! That’s a weird coincidence. The whole album is awesome. I love nightmare personally and it’s my favorite avenged song.
I was just watching y'all headbang in unison and when Eric was talking about the smooth transitions, and I just said out loud "oh just wait til the second half kicks in". My kid looked at me like I was loopy ;) he's been listening to A7X with me since he was around 4 (I don't censor music). Yes, the unedited versions of songs are definitely the best. Nightmare theme...but also how a person feels when they've lost a loved one. If I was Matt I'd have been saying God Hates Us .... but I have said that too so, I get the sentiment.
This is by far my favorite song of theirs and it's so underrated! I instantly clicked to watch when I saw what this video was. I'll be back after I watch!
the entire band is heavily inspired by Metallica which is probably why you get that feeling. the Hail to the King album as a whole is pretty much a tribute to Metallica with songs such as HTTK being similar to Enter Sandman, This Means War being similar to Sad but True, Shepherd of Fire being similar to For Whom the Bell Tolls, and so on.
I just love seeing people reacts to songs i like and see their faces when the song hits and see if they had the same feels i did when i heard it the first time
I remember when I was a kid Avenged Sevenfold actually played at my school as some anti bullying thing and it was probably some of the best thing I saw ( at the time) and unfortunately I didn’t have access to internet so I had no idea who they were but if I did I would have been listening to them sooner 🤘🏼
As an extreme Avenged fan I'm very happy to see you both dive into more of their stuff. That being said, even if the whole Nightmare album doesn't get covered I understand. I do think that Fiction is one song that should be done for sure. Great job as always!!!!
I got here to the reaction late. I absolutely love A7x and haven't heard this song in awhile. Still gives me chills love you guys and these guys can't wait for the next.
A7X has been my favorite metal band for years now. Every album is different yet familiar. Listen to anything off The Stage and you have to listen to The Beast and The Harlot. Honestly any song off City of Evil will blow you both away
A7x has been my #1 band for the longest time and they always will be just because of how creative their music is, but here recently a newer group called The Warning has recently caught my attention and I’m thoroughly impressed with how good they sound! I will recommend them to anyone has yet to hear them!
"He's an asshole in the best way possible." An *EXCELLENT* description of Syn's guitar playing. It's beautifully brutal, but absolutely impossible to play if you're not a god-level lead guitarist.
Saw them live 6 times and they always performed this one. IMO, one of their best songs live. You guys should react to the song The Stage with the official video. My fave song of A7X both musically and for the meaning. Nice reaction as always 🔥
Deffo need to do start to finish of the album. It explores so many different aspects of life and the mentally unwell and how people come to make the decision to take their own life and equally importantly, how it effects those left behind.
I loved this video! Buried Alive shows a lot of their versatility, but I would recommend Nightmare, Welcome To The Family, God Hates Us, Tonight the World Dies, and Save Me. Like other commenters, this album is honestly one of the best ever because it was half written with Jimmy and the rest was in his memory which made it so emotional and beautiful, but also so raw and genuine in its intense energy. I know this is about the nightmare album mostly, but please, please give Cosmic from "Life is but a Dream" a listen. Buried Alive was my favorite A7X song for ages until I heard Cosmic. It is some of the best guitar playing you'll ever hear, and that song absolutely WILL take you on a journey through the whole thing. It's best listened with your eyes closed, laying back in your seat and soaking it all in.

I second this, Save Me is a must
Welcome to the Family one of my favorites for years. They should hear it for sure !
If they check out God Hates Us it should be the live version at Rock Am Ring 2011
What this guy said! Save me is in my opinion the best song on the album.
Save Me is my favorite song of all time. PLEASE
I love the Nightmare album. Mike Portnoy did a good job to satisfy all of us REV-fans.
I think he did The Rev very proud on the Welcome To The Family tour.
I remember seeing an interview with A7X and Portnoy where Portnoy actually asked if The Rev actually wrote the drums and planned on playing them because of how nuts they were.
I haven't heard this song in 10 years and still know all the words by heart.
Zacky and Syn’s work on the guitars when they play in tandem never fails to floor me.
“Save me” is my favorite song of all time, it’s honoring The Rev, as it was the last song he wrote, and it’s a masterpiece. It’s long, but 100% worth it.
Actually, it was Fiction. Matt has talked about it in interviews. Though Save Me is a fantastic song.
The drumming is awesome on this jam too 🤘
@@ksmith37true.. and Save me still is about the Rev passing, their thought process, raw emotions etc.
This is my fav A7X song! Also fun fact its also M Shadows favorite song because the Rev was supposed to sing the majority of it before he passed. R.I.P.
Can we take a moment to appreciate the synchronized head bopping throughout the song? Because this song is a literal bop for that reason lol

R.I.P The Rev
I live in Michigan for a reason... potholes everywhere
A7X had my highschool weight room and gym head banging back in 2010-2014. Its surprisingly clean lyrics that we got allowed to jam out on the pa
The melodic callback to So Far Away in the beginning just crushed me the first time I heard this.
