halfway decent is an understatement. yes, there are better drummers that can do more technically better things, but he was still insane.@@ericforte1867
Well, yeah. They've only had 3 drummers. The Rev, Arin, and Brooks. In my opinion, Arin was pretty damn good, especially that drum fill in Not Ready to Die.@@TheDylls
It was actually the Rev’s parents who told the band they must go on after his passing. They gave the band their blessing in Jimmys name and they are still super close with them. If you want to see how amazingly talented the Rev was with A7X, do any LIVE reactions from their LIVE IN LBC, that is just iconic vintage footage of them in their prime. This song makes me cry every time, great reaction, love A7X a lot
His parents are amazing and still present with them. I saw Jimmy’s dad at their 20th anniversary messing around with the rest of us. They were backstage at The Forum when the new album came out.
Synyster Gates actually started writing this for his grandfather and when Rev (Jimmy) passed away, he changed it. I love Avenged. I understand they're not everyone's favorite but it's awesome to see them get some love. Great job guys! RIP Rev, foREVer.
Synyster Gates and The Rev grew up together, I believe they met in second or third grade, and then met the rest of the members pretty much in the following years, they practically knew each other, their entire lives, and they’re all pretty much each other’s best friend
You can really tell how important he was to the writing process of the band, their style changed a lot after he died. The Rev was one hell of a drummer, vocalist, lyricist and songwriter, gone too soon from this world. The albums he made with the band are still my favourites, nothing they have made after Jimmy died have come close.
My favorite band of all time! They are amazing live. This song will punch you in the gut every time you hear it. I’m going to see them tonight and again this sunday, 1-2 combo!
I never got to see The Rev live. My first Avenged Sevenfold concert was around a year after he passed away. They honored him in such a lovely way by having the drumset lit with a spotlight in a darkened arena. We all miss him and his talent so much.
The solo, you can really feel and hear the emotions in it, it sounds like a cry. And The Rev was only 28 when he passed. Way too young. Rest In Peace, Jimmy. ♥️
the fact that they were childhood friends and that in another song theres "my only dream is gone" referencing that their dream was to get old together hurts even more
I got to see A7X not too long after we lost the REV it was on the nightmare tour that I saw them it was a fantastic show but halfway through you heard the whole crowd start chanting REV, REV, REV I felt so bad for the band it was a beautiful moment but I could just feel their pain. So sad.......
God i went to go see them live a few months ago and traveled to Amsterdam from Manchester for it, even if rev had passed it was by far one of the best gigs i ever saw and I'll never regret it. The first gig i went to was KISS which will always be my favourite and a fond memory but avenged is definitely my second favourite gig and first favourite band.
Bro, as soon as you started the video and that first chord was strummed, I immediately felt tears welling up in my eyes! The rev was an incredible drummer (and person). It really hurts just to know he will never come back.
I became a massive A7X fan with 2 of my close friends, we went to their first concert after Rev and it was so emotional and we were just kids, but they absolutely killed it. Awesome seeing you react to this❤
This album hit so hard when it first came out. It definitely holds a special place in my heart. I don't really keep up with their new music, but their old music was a big part of my young adult years. Glad you both enjoyed this one!
I just saw A7X with Falling In Reverse last night in Houston. He dedicated this song to Rev. It was an amazing show and of course Ronnie brought it as usual. Best 3 hours of the year!!
If I remember correctly, The Rev passed away due to drugs and alcohol abuse. He knew he wasn’t going to live long. He turned in the song Nightmare and told M. Shadows that it was gonna be his last song. And it was. We just saw them on Tuesday and this tribute was PHENOMENAL. Definitely made us cry. I’ll send videos.
You’ve probably already seen my comment on Patreon, but this song specifically hits home. My brother passed away in February, and Avenged (the Rev specifically) were his biggest inspirations. Thank you so much for reacting to this ❤️🖤
I've heard so much shade thrown at this band but I think his voice is so incredible AND unique and their instrumentation is amazing...ballad or banger.
Listening to this song makes me cry. I was listening to it when I was told that my best friend had passed away. I almost fell out of my chair. It's always been hard to listen too.
I saw them Thursday here in Houston, TX. They put on a good show. Falling in Reverse was before them and as we all know Ronnie can music! A must see for sure. I love y'all's outros they get me every time
They got me into this type of music back in 2011 when I was facing the divorce of my parents... Being a 15 years old growing up boy, it was really hard for me to be a part of that toxic divorce and there were times where i would think about taking my life but then I've heard A7x and they saved me. They probably won't see this, but from the bottom of my heart... Thank you so much!
My sister passed away in 2007 and i used to play this when i was in a melancholic mood. She turned me on to Type O Negative and Danzig, she knew I'd like them because our tastes were so similar. We used to jam together to The Beautiful People and move on to Living Dead Girl. So when she passed like Rev (liver failure after a lot if alcohol and drug use.... she had demons for sure...Long story) I used to play this on repeat. Glad I'm not the only one who gets emotional during this song. ✌️
Fiction from avenged sevenfold is also very emotional song which is written by THE REV, threee days after he handed that song to other band members he passed away, in that songs is mix of REV's singing and m shadows vocals so it would be great if you checked it out
So one little detail I love and how tgey framed it. On Synister Gate's guitar strap it says the word "Forever" but there is a shot where the word can be read as "For Rev" and I've always thought that was a beautiful shot.
I saw them live in Minneapolis dec 2011. And the performance was more than powerful. I was in a raw place at the time already, my older brother died 3 months prior to this concert so it hit that much harder. But it was a beautiful show
This song everytime makes me cry. It's a beatiful song and showcases more that M can actually sing. Rev was so much more than just the drummer in the band and his passing at such a young age was so sad. RIP Rev.
I've been waiting for this one! Seeing them this Sunday (with Falling in Reverse!) with my 11 year old - his first live concert. We love you Jimmy, RIP. #foREVer
The only song ever to make me break every single time I hear it. I finally got to hear it live just recently. M Shadows has always been one of my favorite singers to idolize. This shit hurts all the way through.
I am one of the lucky one to have seen them when The Rev was alive. still one of the best shows I have ever been to along with each time since I have seen them. Been fortunate to see all drummers that have performed with Avenged. Fan of theirs FoREVer
I've listened to this song countless times, and every time both solos give me chills, and that second solo makes my eyes want to leak every time. *Side note* you should really follow this song up with fiction. It was the last song of the album that the Rev turned in. The lyrics are incredibly haunting.
I had the privilege to see A7X when the Rev was still alive and man, what a guy he was. I remember him going around the fence to greet the fans, give hi-fives and ask if it was all okay for us waiting under the summer heat. And gosh what a beast he was at the drums. And such a great lyricist and musician. I still think about him. Love you, Jimmy.
Rip Rev! Love that you guys are down for more A7x! Crimson Day. And I wont see you tonight part 1 are 2 of my favorites , the softer side of these guys is beautiful!! Been a fan for awhile now, Always look forward to your vidoes! Peace and love my friends 🖤🤘
I was 16 and I'll always remember the day because it was my little sister's birthday. I bawled my eyes out when I found out. That band was so extremely important to me at that time in my life and...Honestly it still doesn't feel real that Jimmy's gone. He was such a talented singer, lyricist and an absolute BEAST of a drummer. RIP foREVer
REV passed away on my brother's birthday... he has celebrated his birthday since. A7X and the REV have been a big part of my brother and I's lives for many years and I think they will be for a very long time to come.
Rip Rev, we just saw them in Texas at the woodlands very recently with falling in reverse. To this day they still play this song and still show respect to their fallen Brother. It is one of the songs that always touches my soul. Much respect brothers.
RIP Stallion Duck! A7X is my favourite band, and that will never change... no matter how many Spiritboxs' or Bad Omens comes along....This song is very emotional and to me, it goes hand in hand with Nightmare as a duo "in Memory" of the REV. The emotion of this song live is a whole other thing...
Was going to say the same. Obviously it’s also eerily like his final note to everyone. 😢. Kyle and Eric, think it’s time to delve a little deeper into the A7X rabbit hole
Thanks for doing this one guys. A couple years ago I lost a close friend who was also my tattoo artist In a motorcycle accident. Heard this song one day and inspired me to learn guitar again. So I learned this song and actually bought a sin gates custom guitar. It's amazing how music can release so much emotion sometimes. Love your videos. Keep it rocking.
Rev was 27 when he passed way too young 💔💔I saw them this year in Portland and when they did this we all had our flashlights on for everyone we lost and for him
Sadly the rev lost his life from an OD, I believe he told the guys he was going to die at 28 and he did😢 The last song Jimmy wrote was called death(later changed to fiction, jimmys nickname for himself). He gave it to them and said here’s the last song for the record and he died 3 days after that. It was his goodbye You should listen to it maybe not react but at least listen to it if you haven’t already.
The REV. I miss you Jimmy. It was a pleasure getting to sign my name next tour yours when my band played the Warehouse in Houston. I love ya Brother! 🤘
Aahhh man, this song always gets me. I rememeber being so impacted by The Revs passing that I created an art project for him while I was still in high school. I believe i just heard a guitar cry and no one else could do that except sinister gates RIP the REV i may have just started listening to A7X last year but his talent was unmatched in my opinion
RIP REV. He was a powerhouse with his voice and lyrics.
He was a halfway decent drummer too 😂
That he was.
halfway decent is an understatement. yes, there are better drummers that can do more technically better things, but he was still insane.@@ericforte1867
IMHO, Brooks Wackerman - specifically on the newest album - is the first time that A7X has had another drummer who TRULY played like The Rev ❤❤
Well, yeah. They've only had 3 drummers. The Rev, Arin, and Brooks. In my opinion, Arin was pretty damn good, especially that drum fill in Not Ready to Die.@@TheDylls

This song and video makes me cry every time. When Matt transitions into the “I love you”…I just can’t. So emotional. The Rev will always be missed.

They just put out a new album, it’s a doozy
This song gets me every time. Such a beautiful tribute 🎼 Synyster just kills it on guitar 🤯😭 needed this one today ❤️❤️
The emotions during their live shows playing this was insane. Everyone loves the Rev and the lighters were amazing to see live.
I just saw A7X with Falling In Reverse last night in Houston. He dedicated this song to Rev. It was an amazing show and of course Ronnie brought it as usual. Best 3 hours of the year!!

Weren't the rev and m shadows friends since grade school? Also even now the pain in Matts face when they play this live is heart breaking
He turned in Fiction, originally titled Death.
He turned in Fiction. Not Nightmare.
@@igorpodemski9596 oh shit. I thought it was Nightmare. It has been a long time since I’ve researched them. Thanks for clearing it up.
@Nemesisv1.1 yes!!! This is the one. I couldn’t remember the exact details of his death. Thank you.

That part where Syn kisses Rev on the head ( in this vid It's at 6:47 )always gets me. Two best friends.
When Syn plays this song, his guitar crying.
Unfortunately A7X was never the same. Never again will we have another "A little piece of heaven". RIP REV.
PLEASE do “Buried Alive”. Synyster’s guitar intro is so amazing and gives you hints of the jazz background he experienced.
They got me into this type of music back in 2011 when I was facing the divorce of my parents... All the band members have a tattoo related to The Rev, for example, Syn has the word “foREVer” on his chest with the emphasis on REV for Jimmy

Great Reaction!
This song has always broke my heart. It makes you think and feel for the one’s you’ve lost! ❤❤😢😢❤❤
I would love to see you guys continue to do more A7X!
Lost my dad last June to pancreatic cancer. I listen to this song some nights for a good cry.
The background voice is actually "The rev" they added his backpack vocals in their songs so he will always be with them
He was such a good person and very talented guy, its rare to come accross some one like hime.. We miss you rev..💀🦇❤
REV passed away on my brother's birthday... he has celebrated his birthday since.
A7X and the REV have been a big part of my brother and I's lives for many years and I think they will be for a very long time to come.
You guys are the best. You just have that likability that makes me want to just hang out with you. Keep it up y’all.
Such a great song! RIP Rev.
I had forgotten about this song. RIP Rev.
that lyric " ill see you when it lets me your pain is gone your hands untied" always hits me hard
Rip Rev, we just saw them in Texas at the woodlands very recently with falling in reverse. To this day they still play this song and still show respect to their fallen Brother. It is one of the songs that always touches my soul. Much respect brothers.

Was going to say the same. Obviously it’s also eerily like his final note to everyone. 😢. Kyle and Eric, think it’s time to delve a little deeper into the A7X rabbit hole
Another great reaction to another great A7X song!!! 💯❤️🔥 #RIPRev

If you guys ever want to react to some more A7X, I'd love to see a "Save me" reaction. One of my big favorites!

Fkn R.I.P THE REV!! 😔🙏🙏✌️🤘

The REV. I miss you Jimmy. It was a pleasure getting to sign my name next tour yours when my band played the Warehouse in Houston. I love ya Brother! 🤘
Yall gotta check out their live performance of this at the Grammy Museum
Such a tearjerker, and yet so well done. Thanks for the reaction.
13 years later that song still brings a tears
that little bit of context from Kyle adds so much to this reaction
Aahhh man, this song always gets me. I rememeber being so impacted by The Revs passing that I created an art project for him while I was still in high school. It's hard to think it's been well over a decade since he passed.... RIP Rev.🖤🤘
As a sidenote, you folks asked how old he was when he passed, I want to say he was roughly in his late 20s, so fairly young...
Awesome video as always. Rev died at the age of 28😢 And I believe that Rev had a heart disease. He knew that he's not gonna live long. He was an extremely mentally strong and kind person. What a legend he was and will always be. Rip Rev😢🕊️
He died from being a drug addict. Overdose
@lesterparker1594 according to the coroner, he died of an accidental overdose of prescription medication and cardiomegaly (an enlarged heart). Amazing how both can be true.
RIP The rev. Love this song. If I have read correctly I believe he was 29 years old when he died.
One of the only times I ever heard a guitar cry!
I hope you react to more A7X. Their new album it's a MUST
They just make beautiful music dude simple as that
Sinister Gates has this sound that's an odd combination of "I've heard something like this from a million artists" and also "Oh, that's undeniably a Sinister Gates riff; his sound is iconic"
I’ve been waiting for you guys to get to this one… I knew you’d love it 🥰
The song Fiction I think gets me everytime. You guys should give that one a listen
We need more avenged reactions

Been waiting for you to do this one! Haven't even started the video yet and I'm hyped
Got to hear this song live 2 days ago. 🙌
PLEASE MORE SONGS FROM THEM, ALL THEIR MUSIC IS THE BEST
My favorite is Save Me from Nightmare album
You should watch the live version where The Rev's parents were in the audience. It's powerful.
