As people have already said, this was an Easter egg song for a cod zombies map called “Call of the Dead”. 935 is a group in the story and the breakdown is the zombies theme in general
Not Ready to Die had been written and recorded in ten days of a break of A7X's Nightmare touring in 2011 for Call Of Duty: Black Ops' Call of the Dead Zombies map, which it's an Easter egg on. Its lyrics are about an Axis research group which had existed during World War II in its storylines called Research Group 935 who had discovered an element in a meteorite called Element 115 which reanimates the dead and turns them into zombies. The group's head researcher Dr. Ludvig Maxis had used Element 115 on his daughter Samantha to make her able to control the zombies. The lyrics are written from the perspective of Dr. Edward Richtofen, a character who intends to overthrow Dr. Maxis, take control of the zombies, and rule the world. The song's piano breakdown is a sample of the Kevin Sherwood piece Damned which is main menu music of the Call of Duty: World at War Zombies map Nacht Der Untoten and is an Easter egg in other Call of Duty Zombies maps, as is referenced in the song's lyrics, "Damned! Watch the masses fall!". Arin Ilejay had joined A7X shortly into A7X's Nightmare touring after Mike Portnoy had been dismissed, and he'd composed and played drums on the song, as well as A7X's Call of Duty: Black Ops II post-credits song Carry On and A7X's album Hail to the King, before A7X's drummer since 2016 Brooks Wackerman had been hired. I'm glad that you two love this song!!! A7X are consistently surprising, especially beyond their singles!!! Welcome to the family!!! 💀🦇
@@tonyruiz3078, you're right; that's my bad. I'd played Nacht Der Untoten on Black Ops so much that I'd forgotten about the WAW Zombies menu being silent. 😅
This song was made for a Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies map "Call of the Dead". The Song is from the point of view of a character named Dr. Edward Richtofen, who was an insane Doctor (under the influence of the Dark Aether) who helped create the Zombies in game, and manipulated everyone and anything to try to get full control over Group 935 (and the world). Group 935 was a Nazi ran organization trying to do anything in their power to win World War 2 but the zombie outbreak halted everything. The piano part at 7:35 to 7:46 is the Zombies theme song "Damned", which plays when you enter into Black Ops Zombies main menu and was later made into many different versions of the song in later games.
This has got to be the best reaction I've seen yet. At 7:45 when it slows and Kyle gets taken aback by the power chord followed by Eric's "NO WE'RE DOING THAT AGAIN" actually had me laughing and bursting with anticipation for the reaction like I was literally showing my friend on my phone. Fantastic video gents!
it is Mike Portnoy, the song released in 2010 with the game, at that time, Mike Portnoy toured a short while with A7X and recorded some songs. Alin joined in 2011 as touring, and officially in 2013.@@notahoagie8470

I personally think everyone can find a song or 2 that they like, Avenged is just so well rounded and have done so many styles
1. This song was made for the Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies DLC map "Call of the Dead" (which featured Danny Trejo, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Robert Englund, and Michael Rooker as the map's player characters, as well as George A. Romero, the godfather of zombies himself as the map's special boss zombie). 2. This song marked the beginning of Avenged Sevenfold's relationship with Treyarch, as they continued to make music for Treyarch's Call of Duty games through Black Ops 4. - Nightmare (not made for Call of Duty as "Not Ready to Die" was, but is featured on Black Ops 1's final DLC Zombies map, "Moon") - Carry On (Black Ops II, as a campaign mode post-credit bonus) - Jade Helm (Black Ops III, as a musical background score for Zombies mode) - Mad Hatter (Black Ops 4, secret song on the "IX" Zombies map) I believe Avenged Sevenfold had planned to make music for Black Ops 5 (Cold War), but COVID got in the way (and personally, I hope they come back for Black Ops 6 next year). 3. Avenged Sevenfold's drummer was Arin Illejay at this point in time. He was their first official drummer after the death of Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan (as Mike Portnoy's work in the studio for them was voluntary, and his time with them live was as a touring drummer). Illejay was replaced shortly after the Hail to the King era by Brooks Wackerman, their current drummer. - The Rev passed away in late 2009. 935 - Refers to Group 935, a military research group that created nazi zombies in the CoD zombies story line and yes this was after The Rev's passing, I believe this is Aaron I. on drums
I believe this is Aaron for the drums. He is actually my stepfathers nephew. He happened to be practicing in the same studio that A7X came to record in. They heard him and brought him over to run the recordings with them and then invited him to join. All of the Hail to the king album was with him as the drummer!
7:50 I just love the black ops 2 zombie piano part. Love the whole song but it’s so nostalgic knew that part earlier then I discovered avenged sevenfold but such an amazing band.
So this is Arin Illejay on drums. I love his style and he wrote the drums for the hail to the king album but the band eventually loved on from his and introduced brooks wakerman. This is also a song made for call of duty zombies so the 9-3-5 reference is to cod zombies! This is my favorite song by the band!
I think Kyle would be comfortable listening to songs avenged sevenfold produced from years 2003-2010 so basically choose songs from albums: waking the fallen, city of evil, self titled album, diamonds in the rough. Here are some song recommendations: Desecrate through reverence Second heartbeat Remenissions Radiant eclipse And all things will end Burn it down Trashed and scattered The wicked end Strength of the world Almost easy Brompton cocktail Demons Crossroads Dancing dead Welcome to the family Natural born killer God damn God hates us (live at rock am ring 2011) Also "save me" is an absolute masterpiece even thou it's not fast tempo with lots of screams
The drummer was Arin Ilejay, he was the drummer for this song and the hail to the king album, unfortunately hail to the king was m8st dialed back on the drums, so that's how people remember his playing. But this song showcases what he could really do
Boys, check out anything from sounding the seventh trumpet or waking the fallen those are their first two albums and they are absolute fire. Unholy confessions is one of the top tracks. Hope this helps!
Hope to see you both react to their new album (Life Is But A Dream) Also they have a ton of songs I would highly recommend such as Buried Alive, So Far Away, The Stage, Sunny Disposition, and a bunch of others
yes this was Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan playing drums in this album he passed on December 28th of 2009 and he played the following albums for avenged seven fold Sounding the Seventh Trumpet (2001) Waking the Fallen (2003) City of Evil (2005) Avenged Sevenfold (2007) Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough (2008) i am a fellow drummer as well and ive played for 8 to 9 years now and jimmy is one of my biggest inspirations and i love his drumming and you two should watch the behind the scenes to the song little peace of heaven jimmy did a lot of the song also can you guys please do more avenged seven fold
This was Arin Ilejay, who was the replacement for the Rev after his passing. He worked with them and was the drummer on the hail to the king album. He then departed the band due to "creative differences", and was replaced with Brooks Wackerman who is their current drummer
Arin was way more cymbal heavy, i really hated Hail to the King because of that. Arin did not used kickdrums really well, and it made the whole album powerless to me. This drummer is not like him at all... i wish he was that aggressive on the album too... nonetheless, new avenged is too meh... :D
@@Pufferzsola, M. Shadows and Synyster Gates had directed most of Arin's drumming on Hail to the King. They'd wanted him to play specific groove-oriented styles which would suit their classic-styled compositions. It hadn't been his decision to not use many kickdrum patterns on it. The most they'd allowed him to play on Hail to the King is on Planets.
This was my first introduction to A7X when I played call of the dead. And ever since then they personally have been my favourite band of all time. Not saying they are the best but they are my favourite and this song will always hold a special place in my hearts. Me and the homies just slaying zombies while head bopping to this song!❤❤❤
“Controlling 935” was a reference to the cod zombies video game. In the game, Group 935 was the one who unleashed this zombie apocalypse after experimenting with a mysterious material from a meteorite called Element 115.
The majority of Nightmare is this style. Hail to the King is still punchy like this, but much more simplified and more Metallica-esque. The Stage is just a left turn and is very complex, but Goddamn is the ashy and awesome! Check out more of their stuff!
arin illejay did the drum for this song i believe, this song came around 2011, after portnoy's departure illejay has been chosen to fill the drum for their upcoming tours
I had to look it up because you guys got me curious, but I'm pretty sure I know what "controlling 935" means. It turns out the song is sung from the POV of Dr. Richtofen from COD Zombies. I won't put his whole story on here, but basically he was a part of Group 935 who created the zombies.
Something I don’t see mentioned yet is that the screaming is done by Johnny Christ, their bassist, and not M Shadows the main vocalist. You can see Johnny doing the screaming bits in concert.
The song was made for Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies. 9-3-5 is an important part of the game. Also the piano sequence is the main soundtrack for zombies. But yeah A7X has done a few songs for COD zombies and they’re all great. The other 2 they’ve done are Carry On and Mad Hatter. All great, but Not Ready To Die was the first and definitely the best.
I always love how people are like I never got into A7X they weren’t really my thing and then they listen to them and they’re like oh wait what this is not what I thought they were like at all and then they can’t stop listening
Definitely check out "I won't see you tonight part 1 & 2" and their new song "We Love You. The piano sequence is from Call of Duty World at War Zombie mode 🖤🤘
Mad Hatter by Avenged Sevenfold is quite an interesting song, I'd also recommend listening to Chapter Four or Second Heartbeat from the Waking the Fallen album, or literally anything from the Nightmare album!
I know exactly which Avenged Sevenfold songs you two need to react to!!! Three of their heaviest songs: Darkness Surrounding Eternal Rest God Hates Us Three of their sprawling epics: I Won't See You Tonight Part 1/I Won't See You Tonight Part 2 M.I.A. A Little Piece of Heaven Three of their romantic ballads: Warmness on the Soul Seize the Day Dear God Three of their most unique songs: A Little Piece of Heaven Fiction Malagueña Salerosa (a Mexican folk cover) Three of their newest songs: Mad Hatter Nobody We Love You
4:42 the lyrics are actually wrong here and he whispered “let em feed” and not “help me”. Which adds to the whole zombies theme since they made this song for COD zombies
I could talk about A7X all day ! There’s so many good songs ! The whole self titled avenged sevenfold album, the nightmare album, and hail to the king album. Check em all out guys ! Idk what song to suggest. Gunslinger is great !
Fun fact this song as stated in other comments is a black ops 1 zombies gamemode song and it actually narrates the apocalypse through the eyes and mind of Dr Edward Richthofen a nazi German scientist sent by the illuminati to infiltrate group 935 a nazi scientist group working on wonder weapons teleporters and super soldiers using the element 115
If this is what your looking for, you may not like their new album that’s coming out, but there is a good bit like this in their older stuff. Their new song gave me some rush vibes but it’s different.
What’s sad is this is really the only song like this that they’ve made and that’s what makes it both unique and extremely sad. I have yet to find another song comes close to this level of musical control. I’d be happy to take recommendations if anyone has any
mike portnoys is on the drums on this track. in an interview mike said theres some things that the rev did i i cant do. mike being the revs inspiration of being a drummer
If this is what you want to hear from them probably check out any from the Nightmare album and work back from there. After that things get weird. I like what they're doing now too, but it's different. So, the timeframe for drummers goes like this. The Rev, everything up through the self titled (white) album. He passed away as they were wrapping up the song writing for Nightmare. Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, who the Rev liked a lot, took over and played for the studio recordings of Nightmare. He toured with them as well, but there was a disconnect where he thought he was "in", and actually quit Dream Theater. But A7X was still considering it a temporary thing. They went their separate ways with no hard feelings on either side as far as I know. Nightmare's drums were mostly worked out by the Rev, Portnoy worked off of his notes and did a great job IMO. I kinda wish he had stayed on since he would be perfect for the more prog rock direction they've gone to now. Then Arin Illjay was with them for Hail to the King, which is roughly when this track was recorded. He was ok, but honestly I wasn't sad to see him go. Brooks Wackerman took over at that point and is their current drummer. I like him a lot, he seems to be able to play a lot of different styles which is good for the direction they've been going since The Stage.

and yes this was after The Rev's passing, I believe this is Aaron I. on drums
This was post Rev the last album he drummed on was Nightmare released in 2010. The Rev died in '09 R.I.P Knifemaster
Here are some song recommendations:
Desecrate through reverence
Second heartbeat
Remenissions
Radiant eclipse
And all things will end
Burn it down
Trashed and scattered
The wicked end
Strength of the world
Almost easy
Brompton cocktail
Demons
Crossroads
Dancing dead
Welcome to the family
Natural born killer
God damn
God hates us (live at rock am ring 2011)
Also "save me" is an absolute masterpiece even thou it's not fast tempo with lots of screams
Although I enjoy the majority of Avenged Sevenfold, but Save Me is a hell of a ride and definitely recommend it for your reactions!
Hope to see you both react to their new album (Life Is But A Dream)
Also they have a ton of songs I would highly recommend such as Buried Alive, So Far Away, The Stage, Sunny Disposition, and a bunch of others
shepherds of fire and hail to the king are great ones
yes this was Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan playing drums in this album he passed on December 28th of 2009 and he played the following albums for avenged seven fold Sounding the Seventh Trumpet (2001)
Waking the Fallen (2003)
City of Evil (2005)
Avenged Sevenfold (2007)
Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough (2008) i am a fellow drummer as well and ive played for 8 to 9 years now and jimmy is one of my biggest inspirations and i love his drumming and you two should watch the behind the scenes to the song little peace of heaven jimmy did a lot of the song also can you guys please do more avenged seven fold
Nope Jimmy had already passed by the time this came out. Arin played on this
7:56 bro that freaken climb man! That is the moment players start tearing through the hordes of zombies in game
Forgot how much of a masterpiece this was. This came out during their prime for cod zombies! They wrote it in like two days
IIRC the drummer on this song is Arin Ilejay, he also did the drums on 4AM and Carry On
This was Arin Ilejay, who was the replacement for the Rev after his passing.
@@chrismeadows4216 that is sad...
When musical exploration is this expansive, I never complain about musicians playing longer songs.
You should listen to Carry on and Shepherd of fire
If you guys like this you'll love the other metal tracks that were made for CoD Zombies
Highly recommend the Diamonds in the Rough album from Avenged Sevenfold
Damn this is a deep cut to react to!
The death bat goes so well with their music. It is dark and wicked. 🤘
I had to look it up because you guys got me curious, but I'm pretty sure I know what "controlling 935" means.
It turns out the song is sung from the POV of Dr. Richtofen from COD Zombies. I won't put his whole story on here, but basically he was a part of Group 935 who created the zombies.
Drummer at the background is Arin Ilejay and Arin fills an album Hail To The King
Gotta do "Shepard of Fire" 🔥
You guys should definitely listen to Shepherd of Fire. It’s one of my favorites and it also was used in COD zombies lol
Where they break after the solo is actually the zombies theme, and they incorporate it so amazingly
Something I don’t see mentioned yet is that the screaming is done by Johnny Christ, their bassist, and not M Shadows the main vocalist. You can see Johnny doing the screaming bits in concert.
this is the sound that I love from them, I am not so sure about the newer stuff....maybe it'll grow on me but 🤘🖤🎶☠ on this one!!!
I believe. Don’t quote me. People will correct me. But I believe when they say “controlling 935” was one of the zombie experiments in call of duty
The whole nightmare album is like this. For example God Hates Us and Natural Born Killer have the same sound
They made another one for bo3
This is the only song I can listen to nonstop for the rest of my life
i absolutely love when it breaks into the zombies theme
I always love how people are like I never got into A7X they weren’t really my thing and then they listen to them and they’re like oh wait what this is not what I thought they were like at all and then they can’t stop listening
Definitely check out "I won't see you tonight part 1 & 2" and their new song "We Love You.
The piano sequence is from Call of Duty World at War Zombie mode 🖤🤘
There is no Not ready to Die part 2
@@lambofgod0086 I was thinking of the wrong song
@@Paul_ValiantPatriot probably thinking of Carry On from the next COD after this was released.
@@lambofgod0086 I was thinking of "I won't see you tonight"
@MeAgainstYou I won't see you tonight part 1 and 2 are amazing tracks....your right on that!
was fun to see Johnny Christ try and do the screaming bits the few times they did this song live back in the day
Mad Hatter by Avenged Sevenfold is quite an interesting song, I'd also recommend listening to Chapter Four or Second Heartbeat from the Waking the Fallen album, or literally anything from the Nightmare album!
Remenissions, natural Born Killer, fermi paradox, chapter four. You need to hear it, incredible songs
Grat video guys.
I know exactly which Avenged Sevenfold songs you two need to react to!!!
Three of their heaviest songs:
Darkness Surrounding
Eternal Rest
God Hates Us
Three of their sprawling epics:
I Won't See You Tonight Part 1/I Won't See You Tonight Part 2
M.I.A.
A Little Piece of Heaven
Three of their romantic ballads:
Warmness on the Soul
Seize the Day
Dear God
Three of their most unique songs:
A Little Piece of Heaven
Fiction
Malagueña Salerosa (a Mexican folk cover)
Three of their newest songs:
Mad Hatter
Nobody
We Love You
I'm waiting for Eric to drink his elixir from a bucket)))))
This song made me a fan back in 2011 🔥💀
I love your reaction to Avenged Sevenfold
I llove Avenged sevenfold and I listen to them in memory of Rev
I wish I could listen to every A7X track all over again, every last one was a finely crafted masterpiece
One of my favorite songs ever. The transition into the second solo was just disgusting. If you did not bang your head to this song you have no soul.
Save Me, God Hates Us, Exist, The Stage, those are just some of their most epic songs. I know there's more those are just the ones that come to mind.
4:42 the lyrics are actually wrong here and he whispered “let em feed” and not “help me”. Which adds to the whole zombies theme since they made this song for COD zombies
The drummer on this track is Arin Illejay I believe
Ngl Eric's face in the thumbnail is GOLDEN
I love that Synyster Gates pisses off Eric in a good way every time. “We get it, you can play” 🤣🤣
A7X is one of my favorite bands. "Buried Alive" is one of my favorites. Now this is up there. Thanks Dudes🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Every song they did for call of duty back in the day was absolute heat!
If this is what your looking for, you may not like their new album that’s coming out, but there is a good bit like this in their older stuff. Their new song gave me some rush vibes but it’s different.
"Buried Alive" is an absolute must!!
Lovvveeee Buried Alive
I think you guys would enjoy the sound and lyrical content of the song M.I.A. by this band.
7:47: i not a space man, it's a zombie piano theme.
My favorite a7x song, I hear the lyrics in my head everyday
You guys should definitely do some avenged sevenfold live in the lbc. It's amazing. You guys r great love the channel.
I like him a lot, he seems to be able to play a lot of different styles which is good for the direction they've been going since The Stage.
they have a brand new song called "We Love You" that I think you guys would enjoy
