I love this song, as a Christian I get it, I get how it's easy to look at the name and go " anti god " but every man and woman of faith has had a time in their life where they felt that God hated them for whatever reason. As a Christian, I believe God has given us our choice to question sometimes but as long as your heart feels love for him and do good to others you will be fine. I don't listen to this song much though 4 times since 2010 actually.
The next song should be Fiction, it was the last song The Rev recorded, and I’m pretty sure he wrote all of it, you can do what you usually do and read into the song and do your research
This. Because of Gibby's energy and surely because people don't confront their emotions often, most requests are the really high energy songs. It would be good for Gibby to do Fiction and a few of the slower songs. I don't think they'll be uninteresting reactions.
It'll probably go over his head, based on him blaming The Rev for his own death, meanwhile he knew he was going to die anyway and went out on his own terms.
I feel I should address this: This song actually has nothing to do with God hating humanity, all of the songs written on this album are subliminally about the rev, there was a lot of rewriting after he died - this one is about how the band felt in terms of anger and depair while grieving the loss of Jimmy, and they wanted to put the blame somewhere, so it's not actually a malicious view, more just a stage of grief - Anger. Three of the songs from nightmare are about the Rev directly - "So Far Away", "Fiction" and "Save Me". Fiction was the last song written by Jimmy himself and he actually sings on it. Another point i want to make: i don't think its fair that you said "of course you'd wanna blame God, it's easy to blame God" and I mean yes definitely in a lot of cases you're right! But in THIS case - a band of brothers (literally a band) lost their best friend from childhood, and they felt as though God had taken him and so they're moving through the grieving process, yet they aren't at all hating God, they feel like God hates THEM because he took Jimmy away from them. But that anger obviously wouldn't last forever (unless they let it, which they didnt) so it was just a stage in a process of healing and if you've ever been angry and have lashed out at someone, you know that after you stop being angry you start feeling regret - which im sure a7x have. So honestly I think this anger is justified - and i dont think they truly believe god hates them. Anger is a moment, as are all emotions. You will never find yourself feeling one single emotion forever - but you can capture it in a song!
I love how you said you’ve never seen or heard Shadows screaming like this while there’s an entire new world on their very first album “Sounding the Seventh Trumpet” haha, I definitely recommend checking out a few from there to hear their style from back in 2000-2001
Technically, it doesn't really cover their 1999 sound. Check out the 2000 demo and you'll know what I mean. Matt sounded like Henry Rollins before he could really growl.

The rev was diagnosed with an enlarged heart when he was very young, they told him he wouldn't likely live past the age of 30 and it would be very painful ! The band members have said shortly before his death he was in bad shape , syn has commented he was "broken" , the drugs were supposedly because the pain he was in from his health issue !

Gibby, when people are on here disagreeing with you they generally aren't being hateful. granted it isn't exactly civil but the two aren't the same. Please not that when I personally contradict something you say I am not acting in bad faith, I am simply expressing why I disagree and want to have a conversation about it. Also, tbh, I am not much of a fan of how you portrayed atheists, we don't simply do wherever we want to do then sometimes feel depressed afterwards. Firstly, crime between the religious and non religious don't agree with that, atheists do not make up a significant portion of the crime population. Also with the depression part, it doesn't matter WHICH demographic group one is a part of depression exists at similar rates, and are all growing. Also, you don't seem to understand the nature of the burden of proof. If you make a claim that god and Jesus are real, that the earth is only thousands of years old, or that the bible is true the duty lies on you to prove it.
It's about moderation. Drinking alcohol is Biblical, one of the blessings of the Kingdom. However, do not get wasted and act a fool with it! Enjoy your preaching more than the song usually.
People love this verision and I understand why but outdoor concerts sound like shit if you're not there in person. Let's hear live at LBC. "Scream" & "Unholy confessions"
I believe this song was originally demo’d under the name total nightmare, but when the rev passed, they renamed it to god hates us to express their anger in losing jimmy. All that energy from shadows must be him putting his emotions into it ( don’t know if this is true but I think it is )
if you like brooks wackerman on drums then check out the work he did with bad religion... not the same kinda music, bad region being a very very long running punk band, BUT while brooks worked with them there rums were far more metal. I remember listening to "the new dark ages" by bad religion and going... wait a second this is the drum beat from "beast and the harlot" I had heard both those songs many times before just one day I kinda clued into that lol. so yeah you are 100% right brooks was great for their style.. it's a shame a real shame the rev wrote most of their best songs and after him they lost to much, and not even another good drummer could save them. (my opinion)
@@maxedmunds8915 I Love Bad Religion, I Got Bored And Google About Brooks And Found More Stuff, And I Agree Mostly, But There's Just A Bunch Of Sentiment In A7X For Me, And Their Songs Might Not Be The Best, But I Still Like A Good Portion Of It, It'll Always Be Fun To Learn / Play On Guitar🤷♂️
The strongest vocal in music history... I don't care how others can go all those highs and lows but they can't do the Growl high and melodic all at once like M.Shadows

Nightmares' album which i've listened and still nowadays easily a hundred times big up dude
When I first heard this song. To me, when you listen the whole album start to finish, there were a lot of emotions and sadness obviously with the Rev passing away. And God Hates Us seemed like the anger portion where you think how can there be a god if my best friend just died. And the anger and hatred that comes with that. Obviously there’s some other lyrics in there but that’s what i got from it years ago. They’re not really guys to shit on you for being religious or a thing. Thy Art is Murder on the other hand HATE religion lol (still a dope band tho)
I totally agree man. We are blessed. I do really like this song but im pretty sure it was like a heat in the moment for them. Losing a loved one is always gonna make you feel some type of way. But i feel as all of us are blessed. Blessed for being living, breathing, thinking beings. And yes a lot of things happen and are going to happen that make life tough but we just gotta be strong and push through those times of hardship. Great reaction man
I’m a bit late but my interpretation is that God is equal with everyone some people sin (rape, kill, etc) and god doesn’t hate those people specifically he “hates us all” (of course god doesn’t hate, it’s just my take). Just as Christ died to “Save us all”. I personally love this song and completely respect your opinion Gibby 🤘🏻
I’m a Christian who plays guitar. And i like their riffs and leads but I’m scared that I’m committing a sin while playing and learning their songs. Is it a sin?
If you don’t know what’s wrong with this. If this is what you stand for then you need to get offline and read your Bible more. Think about who and what your promoting and what they stand for. Start by reading Isaiah 5:20 2 Timothy 3 :1-5 2 Timothy 4 : 3 Then James 1 : 13-15 And last but certainly not least. Proverbs 17 : 15
I loved listening to such a different view than mine.. it's always super interesting. I somehow ended up here and my belief was always 'if there's a God and he's letting 5 year olds struggle with leukemia" then I think he's kind of an asshole. But I respect the comfort that God brings people and I'm glad those who believe have that comfort. But The Rev was also diagnosed with a medical condition that already significantly lowered his life expectancy and seemed very "live fast, die young". Rip to The Rev: the knife master
As a huge fan of yours, on the God subject...look up Pagan holidays. Jesus was supposed to be born between the summer months but, his birthday is celebrated in Dec. Christian Holidays are based on Pagan holidays which is a much older religion than Christian faith. Jesus was also teaching the Jewish faith. Not Christianity.
The rev committed suicide by Brompton Cocktail which is a mixture of pills and alcohol. He did this because he found out from his doctor that he had an enlarged heart which the doctor told him that he wouldn't live past the age of 32. RIP JAMES SULLIVAN!
I love your channel, and your message was very nice about making good decisions, but your view point about Christianity being proven, can't be future from the truth. If you truly want to discover the orgins of your religion, you should look into RUclips videos by Richard Carrier, he also has great books that go way into depth. If you would like more info, or more people to check out, I would love to send it to you. Also for background, I grew up in a Christian household, I was Christian for a very long time, but after doing deep research, (8 years of exploring, and obtaining a masters degree) I can't call myself Christian anymore.
Arin is a killer drummer but I think they ditched him because he’s Christian.. I could be wrong but that’s the vibe I got from the way they dumped him and the overall messages of the album after him.
Hes all pumped up becusse this song got rewritten before it's release to be about the Rev and how he felt that god hated them for taking the Rev away and this wasnt too long after that He was definitely on something angry in this
God can be a scape goat for blame. It is a way for people to try understand why bad things happen in the world. I was not brought up religious but I believe hating god is just a way to blame someone for all the hurt and suffering in the world. For me religion is just a way for people to try to make sense of the crazy world we live in. For me life is just a random collection of events. I do believe we have some power over what happens. Blame is just anger directed outwards. I believe they really blame the Rev for his actions and lifestyle choices that led to his death. Just listen to Nightmare. Is that not about The Rev and his mental demons and lifestyle choices. The whole album is a tribute to The Rev. So far away is one of the most emotional songs I have ever heard. You can hear the pain in M Shadows voice as he is grieving the lost of his close friend and band member. I saw them in 2013 and they said they would play a song in hour of the Rev at every future show they even do. RIP Rev.
Not to be weird or anything man, but how long did it take you to grow your Beard and what do you use for yours? because I'm trying to grow mine but I have to keep cutting it clean off and restart!! Cause the goal is to get a full beard but its been difficult for the last 6 years! Love the content brother! God bless🙏
The reason Jesus is our salvation is bc God is not too happy with us. Yes God loves us but he doesn't always like us. Rev had a heart condition, (oversized heart) Doc said he was gonna die. Rev went out the way he wanted.
Try strength of the world from city of evil ablum most people can agree it best ablum of all, back to the song the song if remember right its a guy family that got killed and he out for revenge. Also song has orchestra in it that mixes with drums is just so majestic

YES mate!! 👊💀
All that energy from shadows must be him putting his emotions into it ( don’t know if this is true but I think it is )
avenged sevenfold God Damn please
Christian with a Trump flag?? 😂😂
A7X🔥🔥🔥
No God doesnt hate us cuz he don't exist
yea you just randomly exist huh
You need to just do the whole lbc live version it will blow your mind
I wish i was here. I would of been the loudest in that crowd without question
Desecrate through reverence or shattered by broken dreams
Loving all the Trump signs brother 🇺🇸
Besides The Rev, My Favorite A7X Drummer Is Brooks By Far, Mike Portnoy Is Legendary, But I Feel Brooks Is Better For Their Style
if you like brooks wackerman on drums then check out the work he did with bad religion... not the same kinda music, bad region being a very very long running punk band, BUT while brooks worked with them there rums were far more metal.
This is them at there best wen there heavy and not rock
Please do more live a7x reactions. Especially live from the LBC!!!
Please react A7X live in LBC ❤❤❤❤
7:16 See this face man lol, I was so impressed too
“What gender you are, or think you are”
I loved that🤣
Request a7x-chapter four
The strongest vocal in music history... I don't care how others can go all those highs and lows but they can't do the Growl high and melodic all at once like M.Shadows
Please a7-x carry on👍👍
After A7x react to TRIVIUM - "The Deceived", "Like Light to the flies", "A gunshot to the head of trepidation" and "Pull harder on the strings of your martyr" :D u'll not be disapointed
by the way apreciate u do like this band :D A7x favorite band for many of us !!! Nightmares' album which i've listened and still nowadays easily a hundred times
big up dude
Like light to the flies!
@@jeremyklekot2279 clearly a monster 👌
Bleed for within pls
Do A7X - As Tears Go By
I won’t see you tonight part 1
Great reaction man
Underside - Gadhimai
I’m a bit late but my interpretation is that God is equal with everyone some people sin (rape, kill, etc) and god doesn’t hate those people specifically he “hates us all” (of course god doesn’t hate, it’s just my take). Just as Christ died to “Save us all”. I personally love this song and completely respect your opinion Gibby 🤘🏻
He truly hates us.
Shepherd of Fire is what got me into A7X
Please react to Periphery “Flatline”
This song is fire 🔥🔥🔥
check out "Live in the LBC" Their best concert ever. Any song from there.
I’m a Christian who plays guitar. And i like their riffs and leads but I’m scared that I’m committing a sin while playing and learning their songs. Is it a sin?
Imagine hearing this in the forest just walking around and some frikken primordial god just wips
out two huge hammers I’m fucking dead
If you don’t know what’s wrong with this. If this is what you stand for then you need to get offline and read your Bible more.
Think about who and what your promoting and what they stand for.
Start by reading
Isaiah 5:20
2 Timothy 3 :1-5
2 Timothy 4 : 3
Then
James 1 : 13-15
And last but certainly not least.
The best gimick salam jancok from indonesia🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hes all pumped up becusse this song got rewritten before it's release to be about the Rev and how he felt that god hated them for taking the Rev away and this wasnt too long after that
He was definitely on something angry in this
I don't know why but I like the graspop 2011 version better than Rock Am Ring. I think M Shadows voice was greater that time.
If we're responsible for all of our problems in our lives, who's to say we aren't also responsible for the blessings too? Not trying to be argumentative or anything, just throwing a thought out there.
Yes u are correct about the band but at this show they're drummer was arin illijay i think is how u spell his name but then they rolled with mike portnoy for a bit until they found they're current drummer Brooks Whackerman and he is very technical and fast
Anyone worrying about him 🤣 cause for Christian this song makes everything dirty
You should check out spiritbox-constance. Just came out and you wont be disappointed.
Gibby you need to listen to American head charge just so you know it will blow your mind.
Architects // Nihilist, for the banger music and the heavy lyrics.
