  • loch Lomond is one of those places I never know where to start from . This week I started from Duck Bay marina . Straight on I knew fishing would be difficult . Along the way I found a dead pike , not even a big one , I could clearly see the pike swallowed the two treble hook . Did you use Alarm , no , was your line strong enough , no , could you tie a knot , no . This was a fine example of bad angling , I should even say trapping fish . Anyway I pulled a light line later on that day to my disbelief , oh yes it was attached to something really good . The Osprey are back , 5 of them circling high in the sky and even a couple of swallow . For the fishing I did average well , actually Loch Lomond is a hard place to catch . Enjoy . Please don't claim the reel yours I will be using it next week . cheers .

    Thanks, Nico, it was nice to see no rain, and a lovely bit of fishing, it is heartbreaking seeing dead pike. Thank you.

      Yes the pike death could have been avoided , dead bait and light fishing line does not work .

    Comment as promised nico. Nice video but it’s a shame to see the dead pike still it’s nice to see you won the Lomond rod and reel raffle 👏 years ago I retrieved a rod and centre pin reel off inch moan I eventually gave the reel to a friend that trotted rivers for grayling. Looking forward to your next video mate.

    Free rods taste better. I've seen a few poachers on the loch ditch thier tackle when the coastguard or the wardens/bailiffs get too close. I don't see the point of it. It's only a few quid for a permit, so just bloody buy one. If you're the sort of roaster that gets a kick out of getting away with it, just remember that sooner or later, you'll end up donating your gear to the river bed raffle.

    "I hate to see dead fish".
    I take it you've never eaten a fish supper then Nic?.......good for you.
    I like a dead cod in batter every so often..... unless it's okay for cod to be killed but pike are off limits..... isn't that "fishist?" : )
    What if it was a kid that was fishing for that pike....and they couldn't handle the size of the fish?
    Stop the "one size fits all....virtue signalling".
    I.e....I'm a good guy.....because I do what I'm told......
    That's what children do........
    ADULTS REALIZE EVERYTHING HAS GREY AREAS......NOT BLACK AND WHITE/I'm good..... you're bad.....type thinking.

      This is crazy, Nico is right at least the cod gets eaten but the pikes death was for no reason.

    • @NicolasValentinScotland
      @NicolasValentinScotland  5 месяцев назад

      @@jacobpitman8938 Absolutely correct . Good angling practice is needed while dead baiting for pike ( I call it trapping ) Every fish lost is dead .

    • @NicolasValentinScotland
      @NicolasValentinScotland  5 месяцев назад +1

      Do you realise they trap fish using the wrong tackle ( ie fishing line ) and that itself is against the law . You need strong tackle and good line to be able to catch the fish and take the treble hooks out , overwise they swallow the hooks and then are unable to feed . This is not a grey area , this is plain STUPID .

    • @jacobpitman8938
      @jacobpitman8938 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@NicolasValentinScotland I agree Nico I prefer lure fishing to deadbaiting, treble hooks just lead to dead fish.

      Ffs Some attitude for an Angler. Fish care is and should be most important part to play.
      Not against the odd fish for pan as long dispatched promptly and sustainable spercies.
      No excuse for poor angling. Videos and information readily available everywhere .
      Thankfully much more people are educated and practising better fish care
