- In this episode, I returned to fish Loch Lomond to the same location I fished late last year. In recent weeks the weather is a little wormer and days longer and some quality roach did show up eventually and in good numbers. At first, I used the GURU exchange feeder to cast at distance and finished up using the slider float at about 25-30mtrs in 15 feet of water. Both methods were as good as each other, the feeder earlier in the session and the slider float near the end.
Coarse fishing for beginners, the key to success was using quality groundbait by Dynamite Baits, Silver X, black roach and Original roach mixed 50-50 with some tinned hemp.

Just moved to Scotland and really looking forward to trying some feeder fishing on these amazing looking venues!
Brilliant Dougie, enjoyed that from start to finish mate (eventually got round to catching up on it but well worth it). Nice wee bag at the end of the session and all stunning.
I'd be interested in seeing the slider set up in more detail, looking forward to the next one. 🙌
Cheers buddy, I all ready got some footage on the go for the slider float had another good session a few days later, I hope to get it uploaded in a couple of days. Thanks for watching👍
Looked like a great session, the fish are in mint condition. I like the new seat box and your set up. Keep the videos coming. 👍
Cheers mate, I thoroughly enjoyed the session. Once the fish started biting it was pretty much non stop. The slider float was the business👍
Fishing for roach, ona float has got to be my favourite type of fishing.
Caught the best roach of my fishing life, (4 decades), a couple of years ago, a fish of a lifetime.
Loch Lomond looks like a cracking venue!
Had some good bags of roach at Lochrutton, near Dumfries, but that was a few years ago!
Great video!
Cheers for the comments, very much appreciated. There’s something about any float fishing, visually an exciting way to fish. It’s a busier way to fish too which I like more. Yeah Loch Lomond is a great place to fish but for its size, access to the bank or actually getting a space to fish at a popular area can be difficult. It’s a venue where coarse angling is way down the pecking order in terms of importance to the Lomond angling association which unfortunately is the same on most natural venues in Scotland that’s not close to the borders. Thanks for watching👍
Nice to see the slider in action,it's a method I've dabbled with but not too much. get caught up in using the same setup too much. I need to try it more. Great video.
Thanks for watching Brian and for your comments. Yeah the slider is quite a versatile way to fish and some say essential on a deep natural venue, particularly in the colder months if it’s float fishing you want to do.. I just love the visual excitement of using a float plus I would rather be more active when I fish and float fishing does that for me. Don’t get me wrong I love catching fish on any method I just don’t like waiting all day to catch a fish or what I should say is I don’t like sitting on my hands waiting all day to catch one. Tight lines buddy
Right nice looking Roach
Looks an amazing place to fish and stunning views.
Really good informative video for someone heading up there for the first time.
Keep them coming, especially the Slider set up please.
Cheers Jim, I think I said it once or twice in this video, absolutely stunning lol and a joy to catch👍
@@garyowens2710 cheers Gary for your feedback and for watching. Hopefully get another vid out soon with a proper look at the slider set up and hopefully a few fish too👍
Thanks a lot mate
No problem mate, thanks for watching👍
Great piece if fishing there mate, good tips as always… 👍🏼
Cheers buddy. Only to glad to help and share. As always thanks for watching and your support👍
Which slider floats do you use ? Do you find they give you much more distance than normal waggler floats ? Cheers!
I go through pretty much everything in the full video mate but yes I would say much more distance than a waggler, you can fish it deeper and into a fairly strong wind
