This is great info for miners of all levels! One thing I found I needed to keep a stock of is CPU coolers. Most mining boards are LGA1151 and those CPUs don’t always come with coolers. Keep up the good work 🤙
A few things; full assortment of black zip ties (white ones look gross on black frames), extra 10' C14 to C13 cables in case you have to move your rig around for optimal air flow, Klein Tools Type-A USB Digital Multimeter for testing USB cables (yes, sometimes new ones are junk), and the most expensive one (only recommended if you have a fairly good sized farm) FLIR TG165-X Thermal Camera imaging tool ($400 on Amazon) to check everything from GPUs to your electrical infrastructure.
I'm going to have to disagree on the risers. I've been rocking the Amazon Febsmart risers on my 13 card Nvida rig for 1 year and 3 months ($50) NO ISSUES what so ever. Gpu risers are great but not really needed. Besides your really just paying for the name "GPU RISERS" same risers cam be found on Amazon $20 to $35 cheaper.
@@Killer65malibuGaming it can work, just bad advice for new miners to use sata. Run a 6600 or 3060 on sata, yeah that’ll probably work. Run a 3090 or 6800 on sata, definitely not… my 2060 super was making the sata connection hot to the touch and ended up learning it was pulling 60w through the sata, can’t imagine what would happen if it was pulling the full allowable 75w through the riser…
The timing of this viedo is spot on for me. I have a good number of these tools already and what I don't have is being put on my list of stuff still to get as I build my first rig.
Here is the summary and my comments. 1. electric voltage meter (not necessary. I use amp meter clamp to measure the current on the breaker in the electric panel) 2. computer tool kit. (maybe useful but not often use it) 3. GPU test bench. 4. spare gpu riser. 5. Spare mining rig cable. 6. SSD adapter. (I use high quality usb instead of SSD to save lot of money) 7. portable fan (very important) . 8. computer duster. (good to have one) 9. cable management (useful) 10. portable monitor (useful)
A small flashlight with a magnetic end, or a headlamp flashlight. When building rigs and the room lighting isn’t great, the extra brightness from a flashlight helps a ton i.e. seeing the details and screws to go on a motherboard. Also agree with others that spare power supplies of various wattage is critical when you suddenly land 2+ new gpus and need corresponding PSU capacity.
Glad to say I watch all the guys in this mining community. Appreciate all the hard work and knowledge for us beginners. I've been mining since February of last year and the ride with yall has been great!!
Finally I get to put a face to the Hobbyist Miner. Keep up the great work. Your list agrees with mines. I have 1 gpu and I am waiting for the opportunity to buy an enclosed 8 gpu case. I have lots of dust where I live so I will go that way.
Big tip, the sata ssd is super overkill for hive but you definitely don’t want to run it on a spinny boy or a random flash drive from your drawer. The Samsung Bar Plus flash drives are a great compromise offering low power, decent write speeds, with a good memory controller and low price compared to an ssd of any variety
Great video. Last week my 6600xt rig shut down because of a bad circuit board connected to a server power supply. Luckly amazon has two day shipping. So a spare power supply is on my list of things to have on the shelf.
Hum p=EI , your voltage is fixed , 120v , what will vary is your current depending on the load on the circuit , the higher the power the higher the current , btw a voltmeter will give you volts , not watts .
interesting. I thought about all these things, except for the I-Fixit tool kit. Thanks for the tips! i know you mentioned spare risers etc, actually you need spares of everything from PSU, motherboards to Fans. Like you said the key is finding these cheap PC and repurpose them
How about a pc speaker to understand no boot with the beep sound/s. Good set of small pliers and cutterrs for the zip ties. A good motorised screw driver, saves a ton of time. Smart plugs which are much cheaper than kill a watt. Say you have a hard crash and u r away. Your hive app on phone goes crazy. Just switch off the system. Wait 30 s and one is up and running. Plenty more. but these are a few of them!!!
Good information!!! Trying to get involve in mining. Idk where to start. Do i need a separate computer to connect the miner? About how much miners can do with a regular power in a house? Etc. Thank you!
Hi bro, thank for this cool video. I also noticed on your other video, some red plastics part used to attach vertically some of your gpu on your metal grid. How can i manage to get some some ? Thank a lot… keep going love your video…
Great video. I bet it was awesome to collaborate with other content creators. I have mostly asic miners and due to their power, I am constantly changing power configurations on my pdus. Having extra power cables of different varieties has been beneficial to prevent downtime waiting for a power cord.
so , 12 bigheads and you did not mention thermal paste and thermal pads? sorry , just being mean , nice video mate , i watch you for sometime but i did not see this one until now , big like from me p.s. sorry for your incident with the rain water into your exhaust pipes , maybe you should think about putting the pipes a little bit higher than the exhaust exit caps/whatever , a little bit in a small angle higher , so even if water come inside it can not go too much into the pipe , hope this helps
Is there a site that shows what when each mining algorithm will require more memory? Trying to see when 3gb, 4gb, etc. memory cards would become un-useable. Thank you.
Spare power supplies are always a must too!! for that off hand card you get but you dont have the power to run it.... Thanks for the melting pot, Good stuff!
Check your UEFI support. If I recall correctly you will need to turn that OFF. If it is already off, then I am wrong and turn it ON. it is one of those two more than likely. I ran into the same problem not too long ago... EDIT: I am 100 percent wrong. CSM SUPPORT... Disable CSM support
Does this mean I'm past the beginner stage as I have all 10? My test rig is a 12 year old Intel board in a small frame, used mine with it until I combined rigs to save on power.
What Tools, Items or Supplies do you recommend for New CryptoMiners, that we missed?
Man I have to say I credit almost everything I know about mining to you, seth and red panda, thank you for being such an Obi Wan Kenobi in the field!
This is great info for miners of all levels!

#1 Screwdriver
Hello! I guess this device might be very helpful - Wi-fi smart plug.
The biggest tool that you need is a big pair of balls.
(Also if you hate big banks that helps).
Source: Me.
This video needs to go on the "mandatory watch" for all new miners list!! Amazing work mate!
Aww thanks man!
Thanks for including me my friend! Sorry I couldn't be there to make a video clip

Hell yeah SATA adapter/dongle for me is def the biggest to have! I have like 5 of them all over the place.

extremely useful as always thank you The Hobbyist!

#1 should be a headlamp. If you can’t see you can’t work on a rig.
Thanks for making and sharing this video. It is muchly appreciated. Cheers from Australia
Thank you

Spare PSU, pdu and power cable. I think there are extremely important items to keep as spare.

A cheap digital caliper, spare thermal pads varied sizes.
Ample supply of PCIE 6-8 pin power splitters, extra SATA data cables, I'd add to the list, keep a few extra 120MM fans on hand too in case one dies.
Great video. Last week my 6600xt rig shut down because of a bad circuit board connected to a server power supply. Luckly amazon has two day shipping. So a spare power supply is on my list of things to have on the shelf.
Great content! For me one thing that I can't live without are creators like you guys... I don't have to recreate the wheel, I learn from all of you
UPS if you are using 120v to power rigs. Helps keep your rig up if the power goes off and comes right back on.
Hum p=EI , your voltage is fixed , 120v , what will vary is your current depending on the load on the circuit , the higher the power the higher the current , btw a voltmeter will give you volts , not watts .
you guys have hit the nail on the head with this one! Great video for all to see.
Hobbyist this is an absolutely insane video!! So much valuable information in one place, any new miner is lucky to stuble accross this video
Thank you.
I would say Thermal Camera, that would help to identify any hot pcie cables and address that.
Top vid - thanks for all your hard work! Great to see the community come together like this. Keep spares for everything basically!
interesting.
I thought about all these things, except for the I-Fixit tool kit.
Thanks for the tips!
i know you mentioned spare risers etc, actually you need spares of everything from PSU, motherboards to Fans. Like you said the key is finding these cheap PC and repurpose them
Pay the extra for the risers and cables. If you don't, you'll just have to buy another set when they go bad!!

Great video good tips thank you sir and subscribed:)
i would add a contactless termometer gun to check temperatures and a emergency lamp, also of curse a Dry Dust Chemical extinguisher.
Great video. Thank you sir!
Awesome video thanks!!!!!
I keep two spare power supplies.
you will need a good psu....I think it's more important than spare cables....good psu with enough pcie cables :)
Good information!!! Trying to get involve in mining. Idk where to start. Do i need a separate computer to connect the miner? About how much miners can do with a regular power in a house? Etc. Thank you!
A 220v 30a PDU. Trying to source a good SAFE PDU that doesn't break the bank.
I got a custom made one from alibaba its been working great since the summer. I had it made with surge protection and amp display.
Great video, very useful.
Hi bro, thank for this cool video. I also noticed on your other video, some red plastics part used to attach vertically some of your gpu on your metal grid. How can i manage to get some some ? Thank a lot… keep going love your video…
I get all my monitors from Goodwill Electronic store and some compters

I feel attacked ......great video
Keep track of which cables come from your PSUs. They may not all be interchangeable, especially the SATA.
I like to keep spare power supplies also.
wire looms perfect fix same thing i use on my drag cars
Hi! Great video! I would say maybe some sort of surge protection could be useful
All agreed but need to be careful with the magnetised bits in my opinion.
Great video!!!!
extra fans hell back up of everything even power supply
extension cables especially when needing to connect to outlets on different circuits
How about good thermas paste dan thermal pad, and extra gpu Fan??
whats the best coin to mine?
Is there a site that shows what when each mining algorithm will require more memory? Trying to see when 3gb, 4gb, etc. memory cards would become un-useable. Thank you.
Hobbyist you need a fan
Me: *eyeballing 4500 rpm fans* Oh yeah I do
Haha!
Awesome video man,
Quick question though, will it be safe to use a splitter to use the same PCIE power cable to power a 6600 gpu and riser?
I hope so that's how I'm powering most of mine...
Spare power supplies are always a must too!! for that off hand card you get but you dont have the power to run it.... Thanks for the melting pot, Good stuff!
I have a z390p and I cant get more than 4 cards to run on it. Do you have any advice?

Only thing the list was missing was more gpu's. Never can have too many gpu's.
Haha. Right!?
Does this mean I'm past the beginner stage as I have all 10? My test rig is a 12 year old Intel board in a small frame, used mine with it until I combined rigs to save on power.
Nice Going! Sounds like your on your way!
All the helpful videos has gotten me past plenty of noob mistakes. The hard work you all put in is much appreciated!
1metre length of usb 3.0- cables are fine
Spare keyboard, thermal paste, psu
How about SOAT??????
A credit card that the wife does not know about.
Can you make video how to get rid of mining?
recommend PCIE 1 to 4 Ports PCI Expree 16X Slots Riser Card USB 3.0 PCI-E Adapter Board Multiplier Port GPU Extender Miner Riser Card for BTC Bitcoin Miner Mining
Thermal pads various widths and thermal paste ready at anytime isnt on this list
Wallets
You forgot a box of tissues for all the crying you’ll be doing as you constantly watch your profits go down daily 😂
Poorly nothing new :/
