We start by going through the Windows installation and I show you the few specific settings you need to make during the Windows installation to optimize for crypto mining. After this we go through all the settings you need to make within Windows itself to optimize it for mining crypto currencies like Ethereum. Lastly, I show you how to set up Windows to automatically start mining as soon as you boot up your computer.

What win10 pro N version you use? My ring was working fine untill some updates and now its REALLY SLOW, I found that maybe the windows version is the guilty

Perfect steps man that will be my new process, thank you. Now I need to figure out how to take my windows from my laptop and put it in my rig I have now but in the rig I have now I have to clean it out start all over but I don't have a flash of windows so I'm trying to figure that out now

I definitely will do a tutorial on HiveOS at some point. They’re both good operating systems. I like windows because it’s free and most my viewers use windows so I want to be able to help them. If you want a good video on HiveOS I recommend ChumpChangeXD’s channel here on RUclips he has a really good HiveOS tutorial. Good luck!

I do have one observation... if you let the display shut off and you're using a discrete graphics card for this, you may boost performance, but only when the display is idle.

I've been perfectly happy mining on windows without auto starting mining.
In my opinion, when there's an issue, you actually want the rig to stay off and assess why the rig shut off in the first place. Normally you just need to find which overclock was pushed too far.
If the rig auto-starts mining without properly applied power settings, you may have your cards drawing significantly more power than intended. I've heard of this starting fires in some cases, but I have my doubts about that being true. However, you may end up in a situation where you have unstable overclocks just restarting over and over again. Doesn't really seem healthy for the GPU.
Maybe I didn’t make this clear in the video but I wouldn’t recommend setting it to auto mine right away. But once you’ve spent some time tweaking your overclocks to a point you know they’re very stable and reliable you could do it. Just make sure you set your afterburner to start with windows as well. It’s saved me a couple of times where there’s been a power cut and then when the power comes back on the rig starts back up again and starts mining. Some people might want it so I showed how to, then it’s up to each person to decide if that’s something they want or not :)

Why would setting your screen to never power off matter? Most people would not like their screens to be on perpetually. Just curious. Great info tho.
Was unaware that the paging index needed to match overall vram of the rig. I was under the impression it needed to be 16000mb.
Yeah I made this mistake too when my first rig outgrew the 16000mb paging file I had set.

So if I got it right the more GPU-s you have the more DAG size (VRAM) you will have and thus can mine for longer time true?Otherwise asked should I be worried about DAG at all?
Hi Seb thank you for a great vid really helped me out, my problem is now getting the rig to start, when i start windows all i get is the windows screen, windows works fine i dont get the command exe screen with the miner the screen does flash very briefly and i think it looks like the cmd screen. Big tip coming your way.....

Hi mate, I probably went through all your videos lately, they are very helpful, thank you. My question is when your computer is crashed or turned itself off and restart, you can do the last method to run the miner automatically. Since we have the settings for the new T. rex miner I.e, you do not have to use afterburner anymore, you need to run the miner as administrator each time. Can you still use the same method to run the miner automatically just simply dragging the file to the start up folder? Many thanks

I followed the steps that you showed us. Asrock 450 motherboard and two RTX3080. The computer does not boot up when the second GPU is plugged. Any advice will be much appreciated.
So can u make a video about the nvidia drivers there are some driver issues with nicehash. There are apparently 2 versions of the same driver I dont understand it bu if U got some I fo on that a video would be very helpful. Thanks
always turn off automatic updates in group policy so it won't possibly restart the machine on its own.
If you don't mind me asking but why do you need to change the virtual memory to be equal to your gpu VRAM?
How do you keep finding GPUs to purchase? In Spain it's almost impossible finding any, and the few there are, are heavily overpriced.

Yes download the latest drivers for either nvidia if you have nvidia GPUs or AMD if you have amd GPUs.

Hello - Seb, love the video! I followed it and am now running into a problem. I am getting a kernel power error randomly at undefined times…rig is fairly standard running 4 gpus (3x 1660, 1x 3070Ti) I’m using a 750w server psu for the gpus and a 650w gold evga psu for the MB etc. I’m under the 80% rule and my temp are all in the mid to low 50C. I’m very confused what is causing this - I tried reducing OC settings but still ran into a wall - I’m down to -100 core 300 mem 60
Power on the 1660s - 0/700/75 on the 3070Ti. I can’t seem to isolate if it’s a driver issue either.. any words of wisdom and or advise anyone?
So I added a gpu to my one gpu rig to make two but I totally forgot to add the second gpu’s virtual memory, every thing seems to working fine except on the gpu I added I have like 4 invalid shares out of 4000 and 0 invalid shares on the other one, do you think I got invalid shares on the second one cause I didn’t add it’s virtual memory?
Usually the default virtual memory is enough for a couple of GPUs. You can always change the virtual memory now if you want. Usually crashing is from too high overclocking. Try reducing your overclocks and see if that helps.

Hey man, PLEASE. Help me, I’ve built a 12gpu mining rig with 6x vega 64 and 6x rx580s, using asrock h110 pro, 3x Corsair rm1000x, 10x Arctic fans, the lot, thought I’d built it perfectly BUT it’s driving me insane! I tried everything to get it to run smoothly on HiveOS but to no avail as it just doesn’t like the vega 64s!! So I try to set it up on windows with a Kingston 120gb ssd and followed all steps but when I try and set virtual memory I get this error “there is not enough space on this drive for the paging file size specified.” My virtual memory should be 96000 (12x8gb) where am I going wrong now? Do I need a 240gb ssd? If I hadn’t of spent so much money on this rig it’d be in the recycling centre honestly! 😂

Yeah sounds like you need a bigger SSD! 96gb virtual memory file + all of windows will probably not fit on a 120gb 😅

If any of these values do not exist create new string value with this name in this registry location, input your specific value, and you will have a pc which auto logs in and has a password, should that be of interest to you.
Run shell:startup then place your mining link shortcut here
If your software requires admin mode to run (IE Trex for 1080s, 1080tis) then create a scheduled task to run your miner .exe and add the arguments from your usual Bat file to the scheduled task. Then create shortcut to scheduled task and place this in your startup folder instead of the normal bat shortcut. O yeah and check the run with highest priveleges box.
