    What happens when a confident doctor becomes the desperate patient who, like the rest of us, feels powerless when we get sick?
    This is the moment that board-certified cardiologist, Dr. Monica Aggarwal, describes as her moment of truth when she was diagnosed with a devastating form of rheumatoid arthritis shortly after the birth of her third child.
    In an instant, she went from being an avid runner, busy doctor, and engaging parent to someone who could barely move.
    Anger, blame, denial...you name it...she had it.
    She also had the answer -- a radical change to her diet and lifestyle.
    Our bodies have miraculous ways to heal and Dr. Aggarwal shares her prescriptions for joy, vitality, and health from her book, “Body on Fire: How Inflammation Triggers Chronic Illness and the Tools We Have to Fight It.”
    Finally, we have a prescription you’ll look forward to taking.

    RIP....tell your Dad and the good Dr here my story. I was diagnosed with RA and IHD three weeks apart. Put on all sort of heart meds, methotrexate, plaquinel, steroids. Went plant based straight away. Not quite 3 years on . Off statins , beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, steroids, plaquinel and now have exit plan to come off methotrexate which is already been reduced by half. I have become whole souled to WFPB no oil.Lost 90 lbs, exercise 7 days a week. No angina, no pain in joints , inflammation 0.5 crp ear 2. For me it has been a miricle!

    Hey Rip, I’ve been following a whole food plant-based diet since July 2020 and just as recommended I eat tons of vegetables I’ve cut out all animal products I have limited limited my oil to a just a very very small amount basically just a drop or two to grease the griddle before I make my lentil pancakes and I feel fabulous. I’m 68 years old and it’s changed my life. Thanks to you for a whole food plant-based life and the amazing gurus out there that are helping us on this journey and the amazing podcasts that go with them.

    I love the visual hand motions, all my patients with a cardiac history need Dr. Aggarwal as their doctor. This is a very informative talk. I have been an RN for over 30 years & this talk reinforced my decision to follow the Engine 2 lifestyle.

    Thanks for encouraging people to just get started. I tell everyone I talk to that just taking positive steps can move you closer and closer to your destination. I love how she approaches her patients. I’m all in now but it didn’t happen overnight. Even so, I’m so glad I didn’t give up! Other than those brought on by stress, ( yes I’m a work in process) I’m flareup free, 90 pounds lighter, and have way low blood pressure with a hopeful encouraging future. 😊

    16 years ago diagnosed with awful case of RA. Followed Dr McDougall and got ten years of no meds no pain but it came back 6 years ago and has been a battle. After four months laid up inactive, unable to dress myself, constant pain, I must see a rheumatologist in a few days, after a three month wait. I hate the idea of meds but there isn’t anything in my diet to cut. I live on green smoothies, oatmeal, beans and veg soups.

    I'm struggling cuz I've been diagnosed with ra but the things I hear her say about keto I absolutely know I did keto for almost 2 years and I did it one year with absolutely no cheats and I did lose weight massively and I felt good and the good thing about eating no carbohydrates is it takes away your hunger and your cravings but I don't know that I can get totally full off of vegetables only oh and I was very concerned about my blood work when I did keto and it all came back better and amazing

    I agree about the placebo affect... instead of denigrating it I think it should be celebrated! If the mere suggestion that something innocuous can help, and it does... that's damn near magical. I think many drugs work on the same principle... unfortunately the side effects they cause can be lethal. I also think that doctors overlook the healing power of touch (long before covid), and positivity... isolation and fear suck... as we all know!

    What matters is evidence, there's carnivore diet and there's vegan diet and in between and beyond this spectrum, so evidence matters, which side can bring in the most solid scientific evidence for reversal of heart disease

    Well I wonder if you still believe in no fat no meats in 2022. I am on keto diet with no dairy or gluten. I have managed to get all my bloods within normal values. I also do intermittent fasting. And all is good with meat and the fats and chicken with the skin and butter. Lots of greens 🥬 etc

    Why is it called heart disease? Isn't it a problem with the arteries.

    • @feelingoffbalance
      @feelingoffbalance 3 года назад

      Good question. I guess because the arteries supplying the heart muscle are really important, since your heart is working 24-7 and you cannot afford to have an issue there. If you have a mini issue in your brain, you will not even know it happened most of the time. You just become gradually not as smart from those blockages.

    *Love* the physiology education and nutrition information. This lady is OUTSTANDING. Thumbs up and subscribed, but *why*, *why*, *why* include “how hard it is to become a cardiologist if you’re a woman”?
    All Americans are under a constant barrage about gender this and gender that. It doesn’t matter what sex someone is when they are reading your labs or talking to you about nutrition. Please skip the PC crap. We Americans are sick of it.

      Because even in 2021 you have to work harder as a woman to achieve what men do...speaking from experience..sorry that irritates you but its true

    • @AccumbensNucleus
      @AccumbensNucleus 3 года назад +1

      @@Scor-ah I think that’s always been true, and will continue to be true. Women have it harder all around, it’s just a fact. My point is if I’m investing my time to learn about any subject, even if it’s a male dominated field, I don’t care what sex the person is. There are women on RUclips that will teach you how to fix cars, and how to shoot and clean guns. I think that’s awesome. You open the video, and learn how to change a water pump. *That* is actual equality. If they spend 20% of the video talking about how hard it was to become a woman mechanic, A) it doesn’t help the viewer to change the water pump, and B) it subverts their effort to be *actually* be seen as an equal.

      @@AccumbensNucleus Perhaps you need videos where the host tells you " If you don't want to learn anything about this person's personal challenges with being female/male/disabled/any other challenge - Skip forward to : time stamp". That way you wouldn't feel uncomfortable with real life information about people's lives : )
