My daughter was diagnosed with RA at age 4. She spent her childhood taking a cocktail of drugs daily. At about age 21 she began eating an organic, WFPB diet, also staying away from soy based products. She is now 29 and has been drug free for 6-7 years. She lives a full life including daily 5k runs. If she does get a sore spot she can pinpoint exactly what she has eaten to create the soreness. I am so proud of and happy for her. Sadly, her rheumatologist who she no longer sees, has no interest in learning about her drug free, pain free, active lifestyle. I am elated to see that slowly but surely, a community of medical doctors is coming together to get the word out. MANY THANKS TO ALL THESE DOCS!!!

@@bharatvarsha7 Sure, it started with pain in my knees, stiff jaw (I thought my wisdom teeth was about to erupt but that wasn't the case )occasionally and finger swell up from 2020 and I thought it was due to uric acid so I stopped taking pickles and lentils. It was all gone and 5months back I woke up with pain in my left shoulder and I couldn't move it at all and it was gone in 2-3days. Then, the very next week the pain reoccured in 3rd week the pain shifted to right shoulder. And 10days later I couldn't walk due to pain in my legs. I couldn't visit doctor due to lockdown. After 2months of that,I started having pain in my sole and sometimes in my wrist so bad that I thought it was carpal tunnel syndrome.
Then few weeks later I felt like my feets were swollen and it felt like walking on pieces of glass along with stiff knee joints with severe pain that I couldn't flex or extend my knees, the pain gradually shifted in other areas like ankle, knee, phalanges, shoulder, neck, groin .
I went to doctor and my ESR was 28 and anti CCP >500 according to doctor you don't need to have diet restrictions. I'm on medication from last 2weeks. Medicine really didn't help but if you're in pain tab nucoxia 90mg is helpful in easing pain. I stopped eating eggs, meat, fried foods, apples, banana, fermented food, biscuit, noodles and gluten product as I noticed those food flared up inflammation and swelling. My pain is almost gone now. Still trying to figure out foods that I can eat.
Are you having the same problem?

      @bharatvarsha7 3 года назад +6

@@anulama5300 thanks Anu for replying. My ESR, CCP is still showing non-reactive, but i have this occasional pain in knee every 3-4days in early morning but goes away within a 5min after i rub. This is happening since 2month. So i am worried. I thought apples, bananas are good. Also, i started eating only vegetables and lots of fruits since then with soups. I also ordered Moringa Leaves, i heard stories this leaf powder alone can keep all pain and inflammation away as long as you take one teaspoon everyday. Please order it right away. There is recent research activities going on Moringa leaves both in India and West and all showed that it removes inflammation as long as you keep eating it. I read few of those research journals and the result are encouraging.

So funny that people always say, "I was eating too much dairy..." I was eating ZERO dairy when I was stricken with RA. My problem is peanut butter and tomato soup, believe it or not. I have since started consuming more dairy in the form of kefir, yogurt and whole cream for my coffee. I now shun all polyunsaturated vegetable oils, and I am doing so much better. It's really nice to be able to use a can opener, clip my nails, write with a pen and hold my dog's leash again. Not to mention turn a doorknob....

My routine each day is 1. WALKING 30 mins or longer each day. Initially it was painful and i did grounding . 2. JUICING regimen fresh vegetables or fruits with lemon juice and honey, soy protein and moringa powder and downed with curcumin. 3. BREAKFAST : whole grain bread with tuna fish spread and alfalfa sprouts, or crunchy peanut butter with banana topping and caffeine less coffee. And off to work. 4. In between drink lemon juice again or have a bit of oats with soy milk. 5. Lunch: Rice , lots of vegetable/salads and a little piece of chicken/fish and drink warm water with my probiotics and folic acid., Vegetable soup 6.POWER nap 7.Tea time: will be crackers , biscuits no sugar and green tea or any other tea. In between i drink lots of warm water to hydrate myself 8. Dinner: Bread again with vegetable and whatever left over from lunch. Spend time with my children. 9.Night cap DRINK WILL BE COLOSTRUM MILK WITH ALFALFA TABLETS . Once in a while , i indulge myself. like once a month. AFTER 4 MONTHS, my psoriasis is less, no more joint pains except for the fingers which strength is coming back again and able to work and do household chores again. My voice is back and the redness in eyes are less. I can drive now. What happened to me was that i became more prayerful, learnt to appreciate life, blamed less, started thinking positive that i can live a normal life again. I can do squats again and a bit of yoga as well. I take B12 supplements as IT really helps with stress and nerves. never mind what the medical report says, Jesus is my Healer. My story is long but i Hope it helps someone especially on the diet, and make sure you go to toilet everyday. Don't forget to bless your food and pray daily and read the Bible. God Bless You.

I have been recently diagnosed with RA. In my case, there is a genetic component since my mother had it too. It primarily affects my hands and feet. The rheumatologist explained all the different medications and after I did a bit of research, I did not want to go that route. I've been vegan for several years already, so I decided to explore what I could do without medication. I cut out oils, most sugars, processed vegan food, and only drink water or tea. I take a few supplements: B-12 once a week, omega 3/6, vitamin D, and an ACV/turmeric/ginger combo once a day. I know there is no cure, but I feel like I'm in a place where I can manage my symptoms. I really appreciate Dr. Aggarwal for sharing her incredible story. Such a strong and inspiring woman.

I can relate to her story and how it all started so much .. this was very emotional and well done you For not giving up! I have a rheumatologist that is the same : doesn’t take in consideration anything I say about lifestyle and diet , doesn’t care that arthritis almost disappears when I eat differently and keep stress free as well as exercising, tells me that I will be on meds for life and I just have to accept it! The last Dr that has spoken to me like this was the one that stated that me having over 70% of vitiligo in my body will stay that way or get worse when I was a kid! Plot twist: my melanin started shooting out in every patch on my body and within a year of that talk I had since had only 5-10% of my body with vitiligo ! So with all the respect to those physicians don’t take their word as the last word ! You know yourself and you body! You need to experiment with it and care for it ; most of them will never do because you are just another patient to them! Being strict on diet, doing IF , loosing some weight and keeping active and stress free has made my Rheumatoid arthritis inflammation and aches go from and 8 to a 2/3!!
I see it as a phase of life that Will soon be history for me , God is good and your body is your temple !

My family has a history of rheumatoid arthritis, from my grandparents down to my sister and me. My arthritis flares started in my mid-20s, which I feel were caused by overconsumption of fast food (the Standard American Diet). Now in my mid-30s, I’ve shifted my mindset and made significant changes. As a result, I now experience minimal pain throughout the day. Diet and exercise can help reduce inflammation. I recently ran a half marathon wearing Crocs with no injuries. Prayers for anyone reading this, as my hands used to swell up frequently when performing basic chores like washing dishes, cleaning the bathroom mirror, or washing my bathtub. Wish I would have heard this years ago. I'm turning 60 in a few months. I was diagnosed with RA at the age of 6. I recently was told I have Hashimotos. I quit seeing my Rheumatologist and quit meds for almost a year and ended up suffering in the end. I am back on meds and seeing a new Rheumatologist, however she does not believe I will ever be med free even on WFPB lifestyle. .Thank you for sharing your journey Dr. Agrarian and Chuck for hosting. I feel there may still be hope for me.

My daughter was diagnosed with RA at age 4. She spent her childhood on a cocktail of drugs. At about age 21 she began eating organic, WFPB as well as staying away from any soy based product. She is now 29 and has been drug free for about 6-7 years. She lives a full life including daily 5K runs. If she does get a sore spot, she can pinpoint what food has created the soreness. I’m really proud of and happy for her. She lives pain and drug free! Sadly, her rheumatologist has no interest in her “drug free”, active, lifestyle.

This interview brought tears to my eyes. My daughter was diagnosed with RA from about 6 years, she is now 17years old. She was on methotrexate and folic acid. She has overlapping toes and one knee that hurts terribly, even while taking the meds. After doing her own research of the meds she refused to continue with the meds. She doesn't see the rheumatologist anymore. For weeks now she has been in so much pain especially her knee 😭. I have just started her on the moringa capsules. It is so hard just watching her being unable to help herself sometimes. I will be working on a diet change and pray for the best. This interview gave me some hope. 🙏

Keep her on doctor advised medication ,keep trying alternative therapy & find out good diet for her.
Diet is one of the major factor which make RA worse .
Blood type diet & herbal plants helps a lot in reducing dependence on steroids .

Thank you Dr. Monica Aggarwal for your story. I work with a lot of mums in a very high pressure and very corporate team and your phenomenal drive and personal experience has expanded my respect for "professional motherhood" even more than ever before. The modern working world can be so much better for mums (and parents generally tbh). Beyond the more obvious and direct lack of workplace support for mums there is another less obvious bias. That is that the partners of male employees in particular are grossly disrespected, ignored and insulted whenever male employees are denied any form of parental support or consideration. This simply assumes its the partners' place to provide all childcare and forces too much on mums only - when in fact dads could AND SHOULD be able to help more and "be there" more for their partner and their family.

It depends on the amount of time and/or money each spouse can contribute to raising the kids and/or earning money. Sometimes it makes more sense if one person is home raising the kids, and the other is making the money. If that the case, then the person making the money is not going to have too much time to help in the raising of the kids, especially they work a lot of hours.

I went to the hospital so much because of the pain and flares where I thought I was dying only to be told by doctors my heart or brain is okay because the pain in those areas where so scary.. I was so fareful as the flares of the muscles and joints are terrible. M body would feel so hot and like glass cutting inside every organ...Sigh. I feel as ease when someone in the medical understand and goes through something like this as it helps them be more empathetic towards their patients because at times majority are very cold and say its anxiety and its in our head. I'm glad I found this video and I hope you continue to do well. Thanks for the relief and confort while I listened to you.

Thanks you for an information talk. I am 74 and was diagnose with Rheumatoid Arthritis two years ago. (I was also put on Prednisone (Cortisone), Methrotrexate, folic acid, Vit D, Calcium). Up till then I had OsteoArthritis for quite a number of years . . . I have cut out ALL processed sugars (cakes, icecream, sweets, cookies, no sugar in my tea, etc etc etc), after which I started feeling much better. I drink at least 2 litres of water per day and add a bit of tumeric and lemon to my drinking water. I have slowly been weaned off Prednisone but still on 3 Methrotrexates on Mondays and 3 Methotrexate on Thursdays. I started taking all the Methrotrexates on Wednesdays, but I got such a headache that the Rheumatologist changed it to 3 on Mondays and 3 on Thursdays . . .
You are a vegetarian, so that says you suggest no meat. What about fish and eggs (for protein)? You also don't mention what kinds of fruit one can eat and what about lettuce, cucumber, onions, seed, mushrooms, corn. And what about gluten? Is it bad or good? What about rice? Berries and nuts like you mention are VERY expensive here in South Africa, except peanuts which are more affordable. I would have liked you to expand more on all the kinds of vegetables and fruits one can freely eat of and what to avoid . . .

I am so encouraged with your story. I will try harder with my diet and try the natural way; which is right now nutri flex. I'll see how that will do; if not I have another natural regiment I could take. Thanks so much for sharing❤

Was diagnosed literally a few days ago, with RA. It has been taking some getting used to that particular diagnosis: I had always been pretty healthy. Then I got covid (twice, one year apart). Have been having some achiness in some smaller joints in my hands and right wrist for quite a few months now, but it started after the first time I had covid. My PT had said she thought it was possible that I had RA and referred me to get tested. I'm glad that I did, and despite being anxious about this, I'm determined to fight and work on making myself stronger and healthier, both inside and out. Now that I know it is very possible to have RA go into remission and it's possible to not need meds for life, I'm a bit less stressed.

Hello Rhoda. Same here, I got RA post Covid. After a month after I recovered from Covid the pain in my feet and hands (and some knees) got worse. Same as you, I was healthy and very active. Also similarly I got my blood work for RA about 3 weeks ago. I’m in the process of changing my diet. Perhaps we developed some kind of food intolerance after Covid that cause our immune system to go hay wire ? Stay strong Rhoda !!! Stay Strong !!!

      @@Carlos-fh8wk That would be interesting!
I came across a report on a potential "cure" for RA-a bone marrow transplant. Last I read, that particular study was at the mice testing stage. I was excited to read about that possibility, but of course it would be very risky (you'd be replacing your immune system with a different one and it could have serious even lethal, consequences), but also really expensive. I really do hope something like that does become a reality; I know many people are living with debilitating conditions, and they deserve the opportunity to regain their health and ultimately, their lives. It helps leukemia patients, so why not RA patients?
I'll keep you posted about the bone marrow transplant thing.

I can so relate to Dr Monica.
I too had 3 children under 3 years old, worked full time on my career, thought I needed to be the Super mum so didn't ask for help, hardly slept every night and, although I felt totally stressed and tired out, I thought I was coping okay. Every mum was expected to do the juggling act and keep everything ticking over. But then I got RA, very quickly - and that was 7 years ago. It changed my life totally.
My RA consultant never mentions diet. The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Association doesn't promote diet as a solution. I also read about the gut and how important it is, but was told that medication was the only way to feel better.
Now I'm definitely thinking otherwise! I want to live a long and pain free life so I have to give diet a chance. First step - find a good dietitian! Many thanks for leading the way and showing us that this is a possibility. x

From watching the video and from my own experience I think that vegetarian/vegan diets can be a factor that leads to rheumatoid arthritis. Everyone should get a regular blood test. For me, I was drastically lacking B12, some protein and Omega 3s. Supplements are a must I think if you don't eat some oily fish (which is great for inflammation). 80-90% plant based with a little fish is ideal in my view. No dairy, no red meat, no gluten and no sugar! Macrobiotic diet basically which is based on the Japanese diet.

and you just described my life leading up to my last 5 years of stiffness in my hips, low back, weird diffuse shooting aches in both feet. I’ve had an ANA done a few years ago but it was normal. Steroid dose packs used to last 6-12 months. Now they last only 2 weeks If I’m lucky. I’ve had microcytic anemia they think due to taking excessive amounts of NSAIDS, ASA. I used to run 3-5 miles a day, I can’t even run. Now at almost 41 yrs., I’m miserable. And every. Single. Thing, you have described is my life. This is incredible. I’m not even done listening.
