  • Did your handle break on your Cosori Air Fryer, separating from the basket?
THERE IS NO REAL FIX FOR THE POORLY DESIGNED HANDLE MADE OF INFERIOR PLASTIC. BUT NO FIX IS ACTUALLY REQUIRED.
Mine failed after a year of normal use. Replacement basket? Same design, material and result. I'll analyze the problem, point out the design defect and show you why it's not really a problem after all. You can buy a new basket or use my work-around which is FREE!
See UPDATE 2 in comments. Avoid this dangerous appliance!!!

As of 2021, the year I bought one with the "fancy digital buttons," the desig flaw has not been resolved. I was about to wash mine this morning and the basket flew of the handle, as did I. Had I been cooking burgers, chops, steaks, or bacon (my typical fare), I would have likely lost a lot of expensive protein to the floor AND made a grease mess AND sustained grease spalleter burns. The latter could have been significant. My 2021 model has the exact same handle/basket/tray as you demonstrated. And yes, the plastic corroded around the three screws, defeating them. I was thinking of Super Glue, but I don't know if that is safe at 400 F. So I looked up the problem and found this channel, for which I am most grateful and to which I have gleefully subscribed. Thanks for making great content. Have a SAFE and PROSPEROUS 2024!!!

Thx for your thorough reply, Jon. I am mystified that Cosori does not seem to believe this is a significant enough design flaw to address. Seems to me that a major recall is a business risk they should be concerned about, no less the pain and suffering of those burned when the handle fails.

They didn't change it:)) I have the same problem after only 6 months of careful usage (not shaking my food so much:) I wrote their support - hopefully, they can replace the basket. But your solution is cool as a last resort - in Canada, the replacement basket is in backorder until January 2026 anyway:)

Hard to believe with thousands of failed baskets (probably users burned, certainly lawsuits) that Cosori can’t use metal instead of plastic for this critical component. Or a full redesign. Bizarre.

Good to be warned about the possibility of the handle detaching. But I need to know where and how to "press the micro switch ejector with a pen barrel to see whether it can be pushed in then out normally, then plug it again to see will it work, see attached picture named micro switch ejector" a picture of the bottom of the unit was attached but no sign of a micro switch ejector there. Nor an attached picture to email. Any suggestions welcome.

Any specifics on the fire risk recall?
It was said to be a Closed in crimp connector,
but I was wondering where thy use them beyond the power cord.
Was always concerned about the use of a 16ga cord on a 1700w appliance
    Addendum:
Took one apart. Three closed in connectors, all in this one looked good but the two underneath, connecting to power cord could be the weak spot.
The one in easily accessible top had good crimp and was unlikely to cause a fire, but could be soldered and capped if there was concern, without much disassembly.
All other components checked out and were well connected.
I would still be concerned , about using one any place I wouldn't want to have the equivalent of a lithium battery fire.
This one was on its way to the dump.
They are big and could do a lot of damage to cabinets and countertops, even without fire.
The steam from the rear mandates recommended clearance, bat even then is a worry.

All agreed Frank. But it’s a poorly designed handle and Cosori should make out of metal not old school bakelight plastic that quickly degrades with heat and moisture.

Sorry about that. There is no fix, unless you have a machine shop or high pressure injection molding machine. Or a 3 D printer and design software. It’s a design and material flaw. But my update noted that a call to Cosori gets you a brand new machine. Now I have a back up.

UPDATE 2 - After my second air fryer handle separated from the cooking basket and spilled hot chicken thighs all over the kitchen floor, I’ve decided to move on. Bye Cosori!
Numerous emails with customer service have only yielded a gift card. Though I explained I do not want another dangerous Cosori air fryer, even for free, I was informed that a gift card was the best they could do.
Most infuriating of all is there unethical refusal to acknowledge a clear design defect that makes these appliances quite dangerous. They all should be recalled.

    • @frankschwartz7405
      @frankschwartz7405 Месяц назад +1

It's only dangerous if you push the button locking the handle to the drawer/tray while holding your chicken thighs in mid-air. Cosori tells you not to do that broken or not. Some longer machine screws and flat washers should fix it in a few minutes.

@@garagegrubbin I purchased the Cosori Pro 5.8-Quart Air Fryer
CP158-AF 2 years ago as a gift for my sister. While cooking one day, the basket separated without warning and spilled food and oil on the floor. She barely missed getting burnt. Cosori replaced the entire cooker, which was generous, however, the same thing occurred again. Therefore, I emailed the company and asked them why they continue to use plastic handles on the baskets, knowing there is a problem. Charis, the Cosori representative, said reports like mine and others helped Corsori make a better model. He referenced their new Pro LE 5 air fryer, Dual Blaze, and the Lite 4.0 smart air fryer. I suppose we are their unpaid product testers.
