    Important update!
    During the video I mentioned two split/lock washers where I wasn't sure which they went to since they were stuck together.
    Well, after the repair, the rubber bumper kept coming off the bottom and when I super-glued it back on.
    I then realized the rubber bumper had an internal lip.
    The washers weren't there to make sure it wouldn't come loose, but to leave a gap so the lip on the rubber bumper wouldn't pop off.
    Be sure to put both those back on the bottom bolt, then the nut and rubber cap!

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  4 года назад +1

      @@cabezon6027 The two washers are simple stainless steel split washers. Bring one of your bolts to Lowe's or Home Depot, and you can pick up a package for about a $1.
      Probably split lock washers for 6-32 screws would be fine.

    i just had to make a similar repair, the lock mechanism is fine (for now) but the screw fell out and that top nut got lost.
    i didn't even know there was only one rubber bumper, so i tried looking for it to no avail. i replaced it with a generic hex nut instead of the acorn-nut looking part that comes with the unit. thanks for the visual, clears it up a bit.

    Mario - thanks on the repair - the GoWise XL had same issue. I took it apart like you suggested. On the handle to basket assembly, the top nut is 8mm and the bottom nut is 10mm on handle to basket, each screw had a lock washer. Hidden behind handle bracket is a plastic plate that had four loose screws. Tightened them all up. Reassembled and back in business. Thanks!!!

      If it was from this Christmas, I would still advise talking to GoWISE or Amazon if you bought it from them.
      They should send you out a new handle or basket.
      For longevity, support the back of the pan so not all the weight is on the handle.

    • @lisamcnutt6504
      @lisamcnutt6504 5 лет назад

      @@m3rdpwr Yep, it was. First use out of the box too! I wonder if this is just an issue with the larger sized air fryers, since the basket has to support more weight. I bought the 5.8 quart one and it appears that yours is probably around the same size as mine.

      These are considered expendable items on all these AF's.

      No worries, glad you're doing better.
      I've been slacking on the video front a little.
      RUclips is demonitizing little channels like mine because I don't have 1000 subs.
      I have plenty of minutes (1 million+), but my channel won't be prioritized any longer, so be sure to click that bell so you know if I post anything. lol

      Mario Monti Yeah. Thanks mate. I have read about the new RUclips demarcation levels on the subs and minutes, not to mention the way the algorithm seems to be pushing videos and this leading to all the terrible but seemingly necessary click bait titles. I suppose it's free and in that manner there maybe shouldn't me complaint. I for one know how video creation works and depending on many aspects how long it takes in the filming of and editing of (style dependant). I used to make a lot of videos about 15 years ago to run on screens in my pubs. They were just graphics I created with style and blah! blah! It took up so many hours. I suppose Google must have a master plan? It's a definite that Amazon will be bringing their version of RUclips to market at some point and maybe the Google is readying itself? I am not sure RUclips has ever turned much of a profit yet, if any at all? Keep going though mate, if only for the fact that you enjoy it my American voyer friend. Lol. Donna......!

      Heh
      The money wasn't really the point, as it was pennies.
      It is fun to do, but if I can't grow as a channel, there isn't a drive for me to put out content regularly. I will do my best to continue though.
      Amazon is supposed to do something and they have trademarked some names, so we'll see what happens!

    If your non-stick coating is coming off your basket... request warranty on it. The original warranty was 30 days which is ridiculous! However, due to the problems with the non-stick coating flaking off they will replace it up to 1 year. Even if you don't have the receipt they will go by the serial #. NOTE: You can use it just fine without the non-stick coating but when you wash the basket, be sure to dry it well or it will rust.

      PowerXL uses the same handle on some models, so you may want to look into that.

    This is what’s wrong with mine and the top screw hole is stripped , it’s a new machine for me but can’t take it back, I don’t want to buy a new handle, I’m in Canada it’s $25 before shipping here. Any ideas how I might keep that screw in? I tried putting a bigger on in and it still happened.

      Are you referring to the two screws that hold the handle to the basket, or the screws that fix the loose issue?

      Once I used Loctite, it didn't happen again.
      It's plastic, so it will eventually fail again.

    I just bought a gowise air fryer, second time using it and I'm already having problems closing the door. I am able to get it shut by slamming the thing closed but I'm afraid that will break the basket pan. What can I do?

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  5 лет назад

      Use a scoping motion when putting it in. After some uses, it will get easier. Also, when it gets hot, putting it back in can be difficult as well, especially when new.

      Actually, they both only went on one of the bolts. They were acting as spacers for the rubber bumper on the bottom. It wasn't until after the video, I realized they both went on the same bolt. That's why I mentioned that in the description.

      I should warn you that without the handle, it becomes difficult to remove and handle the pan/basket assembly.
      At one point, the handles were available for around $7.

    Went through whole fix, worked great until I put the weight of the basket back on, little internal screw immediately stripped back out. It amazes me that there's not something more substantial holding it together than one 5/8" screw. Hell, even two more of them would be great. Not a knock to your fix, just the shoddy craftsmanship of it.
    And of course the replacement basket and handle for my $50 fryer is $40, I smell a scam

    • @m3rdpwr
      @m3rdpwr  5 лет назад

      It used to be $25 for the whole set!
      This design is used by several others as well. (PowerXL, TE and some others.)
      Mine has backed off a few times.
      The last time, I added Blue Loctite 242 and it has been fine since.
      Do you have some bit sof plastic you can put in the hole and super glue it back in?
      You could than Loctite it.

      The pan itself is clean, you can still see water droplets from bring hand washed.
      The metal handle itself is what dirty.
      If the biggest fault you can find with this video is that the handle is dirty, i don't know what to tell you.
      I use this thing sometimes several times a day, there are caked on greases that are stubborn.
