Power XL Air Fryer fixed in 5 minutes by replacing switch.

- My Power XL Vortex Air Fryer stopped working after I had checked a batch of chicken wings. My husband, Mike "MacGyver", suspected the switch or the circuit board. Thankfully, it was the switch, a $6 part, and a 5 minute fix.

Found the part for $6.99 on Amazon. Now waiting for it to arrive. I did the test by connecting the two cables and it turned on. Thank you for showing that as well.

Mine went off yesterday. I tried opening the bottom and connected the two wires. It doesn’t turn on. But with my AC tester, the wires are getting power. Not sure what the issue could be. Any pointers?

I am very happy with the Cosori Air Fryer. It's the perfect size for the two of us. I like the fact there's very little oil being used - that helps with cooking a bit healthier ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB for the two of us. The biggest tip is do not put parchment paper - the pre-cuts are very nice - in the basket during the pre-heat setting. You will catch it on fire. Also use Avocado Oil if you're using oil. It has a high smoke point to it. RUclips has been great with finding recipes for the Air Fryer.

Thanks to your dad, I was able to order the right switch off Amazon and fix my air fryer under $6 bucks. Instructions were very simple to replace, took me few minutes once I had it open.

Same exact thing, mine failed less than a year of purchasing. The company gave me an option to disable it (cutting the cord) and pay $24 for them to ship a new unit, or me paying the shipping of the failed unit ($40+ in my case) and they'd pay shipping of the new one. I was about to throw it away, was not going to invest another dollar in this, when I found this video, works again now, thank you!

I just want to point out that if your Air Fryer no longer turns OFF when you remove the basket... This is also the fix. Great video. $5 and we're up and running.

This made me laugh in the beginning when you said you were making chicken wings. Mine went out the exact same way! Lol , I never would have thought the fix was this easy. Lo and behold 2 days later with amazon prime I got my part and my air fryer is up and running. THANK YOU guys so much for this video!

wow that's thanks to this video, I discovered that this is what was wrong with mine. Connecting the two wires from the door switch, made it come back on. Now to order a Honeywell HK14 switch. Thank you so much, "Dad" !

Thank you! I even had a spare switch left over from a pair I bought for a bad switch on my GE microwave door. Don't know how I remembered where I put it but glad I did. I have an Ultrean brand model but I think they are pretty much all the same.

Much appreciated. Mine had five screws going into the bottom, but then there’s additional two on the inside at the bottom of where the basket slides in. jumped around it and it worked fine. Just ordered my new switch.

I found one of these Copper Chefs at an apartment clean out some one left behind. It worked a couple of times then quit. I was going to toss it, then I thought maybe someone might have a video on why it quit and here I am watching this video. Thanks Diane and give thanks to dad as well!

@@dianemudd374 I tried what your Dad did in this video and the unit still did not work. It must be something more in-depth; however, I still got the chance to see if what your dad worked. I put the unit in a garbage bag and to the land field it goes to rot and create methane gas to burn. lol! After all, is was FREE! lol!
This video was really useful for me to fix air fryer problem. My Air fryer suddenly stopped working. Initially I thought it’s a problem with the loose connection of supply through internal wiring or could be the fuse issue.

Thank you so much for posting this. Helped me track down my issue. I'm going to replace the switch but think it may be the prong that pushes the switch on the bottom of the drawer. This gives me a place to start. I was soooo unhappy about having to replace my beloved Power XL! Kudos to your POPS

Thank you for posting this. I have the same model as you. I just took it apart to test the switch bypass. The screws in my unit are a weird star shape and very small. It was extremely difficult to get the screwdriver to seat correctly and get these screws out. One wouldn't budge at all and I had to drill it out. Got the cover off, bypassed the switch and it came on immediately. So I just ordered the replacement switch. I might get 4 different screws since these ones were so hard to remove. The 5th screw mount point was destroyed, unfortunately. It was that or throw the whole thing in the trash.
I'm having the same issue with the screws. They looked like allen key type screws, but I can't get the screws to budge at all.
The "screws" are not phillips or has screws but are actually T10 screws and most tool sets have a series of T bits and the T10 fit perfectly
I just read they are called TORX screws- lint of a 6 point star as opposed to a hex screw (hexagon) that needs an Allen wrench
@@mstalford1 I didn't use a Phillips head screwdriver as I could tell they were star-shaped. I had a set of star-shaped bits but none fit just right.

@@evesantos1975 take the switch out. And connect the two wires. You'll hear it beep. I used metal tab to connect the two. N black tape them.

It works! Thanks for the video and the Amazon replacement part choice. My switch still clicked but did not work. I had to have my husband help me release the clips from the switch. He had to push on the inside of clip with the point of a needle nose pliers to release the clip. The clip had a little nub to hold it to the prong. Otherwise your instructions were spot-on!

That is a 15 amps device (likely) so we need to pay attention
to the circuit it is plugged into. My wife doesn't think about
these things and will plug it in with a fridge or freezer outlet.

@@dianemudd374 I just got it today and I thought it would be easy but had tj find a T10 bit..then I had to use a bit to make 2 girls bigger to fit my bit down to reach screw! Overall it worked! We used the air fryer tonight lol!

Thank you and your wonderful dad for posting this video. I actually have Crux and the touch panel not working if you plug in unless you open the tray and it is supposed to be calm not having the fan working in order to figure out which option you gonna choose. The fan is working but the issue is they switch the role of each other’s. Thank you for any help.
Did you already replace the switch? Check the original switch for the letters NC or NO. NC means normally closed and NO means normally open. Then check if you got the right one for your unit.
This was a great video, only thing I would add please make sure you buy a switch that states "normally open" ! If you buy normally close it will only work while tray is not in fryer. So again MAKE SURE YOU BUY "NORMALLY OPEN" SWITCH. Trust me I had to reorder mine. I was not paying attention.

Mine went out different model, but yeah it was the same problem. I didn’t replace it I just clean the two metal pieces that connect when you push the button in side that little box and got it working again( I use a piece of sandpaper) . Thanks you for the video it help to identify the problem.

Yep, this solution still works. Tested the connection as shown. Ordered the switch. Good video, thanks much.
My contacts on the switch were pretty tight and my pliers stripped some of the cladding on the negative one and I ripped off the termination spade of the other. Not much wire to work with so I had to solder the positive spade back on the wire and add cladding to both wires. May have been easier to remove the switch first, then pull the wires. Also, had one screw that seemed stripped; simultaneously used a ph2 bit and small hook to turn and lift it out, respectively.

Works on PowerXL YJ-701A. Perfect fit for my PowerXL YJ-701A, on mine I had to remove 2 more screws at the entrance of the basket to be able to access the switch

Took mine apart and was trying to turn it on without the switch being on (basket in) lol I was about to throw that thing away and within the first couple of minutes of watching this video I figured out how much of an idiot I am at electronics.

buddy thank you so much, I don't have the power XL air fryer but i do have the Elite Platinum Air fryer and they are the same just different name. so in my case the switch was stuck, so when I pull out the basket the air fryer will stay on but once I replace the switch it fixes it right away

crazy, mine stopped turning off the operation when you pull out food to check it and just runs all the time until its turn off when cooking is done or timer. Mine finally one day last week started to sort of shut off when cooking and then turn back on and back off . almost as if it was doing the shut down when taking the basket out but the basket was still in and supposed to be cooking. I realized that when i shook the backet and jiggled it, it sort of seem to trigger it to work again but it was do the same thing. now it does not turn on at all. I think this is my solution. THanks for sharing!
