    I just changed one of those couplers for a customer on a 2013 Soul last week. It's hotter than hell down there in the floorboard. My eyelashes were melting off I am surprised your eyebrows stayed on. Good job! I love seeing women working on cars like me💯

    Excellent vid! As a rather large person who grew up in the automotive trade I can respect a person who gets into the most difficult places. These smaller cars need more agile techs. You have a great future ahead of you!

    Great video. Now i know what causes that clunk. My mom has 2013 but so far no noise. Only 44k miles on it. But when it does i know where to look. Thanks.

    I have a question I have a 2012 Kia forte and mine is making a clanking sound and I was wondering how long did it take you to do the job of replacing that part in your steering anyway keep up the amazing RUclips videos

    Advice to whom need it. Remove the seat, it's only 4 bolts and two connectors. We are not snake. I did it and my coupler was intact, brand new. Was making a little noise (tinny). Really, I don't understand how people treat their cars.

    I have a 2010 Soul Sport with 127k on the clock. Vehicle developed a steering twitch after a curveside collision (R front wheel). The impact was strong enough to bend the (R) tie rod end and front strut. Replaced both tie rod ends and both struts. Had new tires installed and a 4 wheel alignment.
    Soon after, the steering twitches occurred whenever going over certain bumps, road gaps or ruts. I returned to the same tire center and explained what was happening. The same 2 technicians double checked the alignment (20-25 minutes) as well as checking the wheel bearings for wear. They couldn't find anything under the car that could cause the steering twitch, so I went ahead to check the steering coupler!
    Well, after dropping the steering column and having a clear view of the steering shaft assembly. I was unable to locate nor could see what even resembles that steering assist module! There was nothing but the steering shaft, a U joint connected to another shaft leading to the fire wall.
    After several minutes trying to locate where that rubber coupler could go, I simply reassembled the steering column/lower dash.
    Any ideas or thoughts why my 2010 Sport would not have that steering assist module under the dash?
    Thanks in advance!

      Hmm 🤔 💭 you sure it didn't have one I'm pretty sure that year should also have it . Once u took the steering column down did u see a cylinder like part attached and then inside that is were that coupler is.

    • @who8dapple
      @who8dapple Год назад

      @@squigglymunchkinmechanic I was expecting to see that at the lower end of the shaft, near the firewall. There was nothing there besides the “U” joint. I did notice that the vertical shaft that went through the firewall had a piston like feature that allowed it to shorten and extend, I’m guessing for slight deviation.

    I did this last night and my steering column pulled apart and I didn't get it put back on perfectly straight so the steering wheel is turning to the left and the adjusting lever for the telescopic and raising and lowering of the steering wheel does not work properly either can you please help me

    • @squigglymunchkinmechanic
      @squigglymunchkinmechanic  Год назад

      Oh nooo. Well as for the wheel not being perfectly straight you may need to get an alignment done and for the other stuff not working did u happen to plug everything in?

    • @23BeRAD
      @23BeRAD Год назад

      @squigglymunchkinmechanicblanco I think so. I meant the steering wheel is not centered. And I'm hoping that's what is causing the adjusting lever to not work except for in the highest position... I will fix it next time...and the coupler is changed and fixed. Just wondering if you knew anything about the column sliding apart and what can happen if?

    • @squigglymunchkinmechanic
      @squigglymunchkinmechanic  Год назад

      @23BeRAD yeah when taking columns apart you have to be very gentle and careful because if handled incorrectly you can cause some damage to let's say possibly the clock spring or other sensitive components. I would try an alignment first you might have just slightly moved it when putting it back together

    • @23BeRAD
      @23BeRAD Год назад

      Yeah the only thing I believe I did wrong was turn the wheel a little when putting the two-column pieces back together as one shaft. Do you know if I opened up the adjusting lever to make that even possible or do they just always slide apart when they're not bolted in place?
