  • I give you a list mods that are great for the V6 Charger and Challenger. While there may not be as many options for SXT and GT owners, there are still lots of great products out there. These are my top mods, how much they cost, and where you can buy them. What mods do you think are the best for the V6 platform?

    Always nice to see support for the v6 owners as you said not everyone wants a v8 or can afford one. If they love the car that's all that matters. Its pretty pathetic when others knock them for it.

    • @dk6419
      @dk6419 3 года назад +26

      @@fernanwoodson9928 guess what by your statement you are judging. It has nothing to do with wanting a v8 if someone wants to modify their v6 the can its theirs to enjoy. If they want to try and go extreme if they can so be it.

    • @dk6419
      @dk6419 3 года назад +16

      @@fernanwoodson9928 again its what the owner wants if they are into v6s and they want to do it they can. Its not something I would do personally but I support someone regardless. And if its their car and they don't care about the value then what is the problem. When you modify a vehicle regardless of the type or engine and you go to resell majority of the time you will not make a return on all the upgrades that include v8s.

    • @dk6419
      @dk6419 3 года назад +12

      @@fernanwoodson9928 I know the differences as well. I was in automotive photography and have road tested cars from hondas to high end porsches and so on. I know but again what it boils down to in what the owner wants. Stop knocking them because you think its wrong just say hey I wouldn't do it but enjoy it.

    • @BeefBravo1257
      @BeefBravo1257 3 года назад +37

      @@fernanwoodson9928 Your comment is incorrect. I have a V6 because I wanted an AWD GT. AWD isn't offered with the V8. AWD was more important for me. I don't regret it either. With intake, exhaust, tune I'm around 330HP with AWD. If the AWD had a V8 option then maybe I would consider it, but the Pentastar is a solid motor with potential.

    • @BeefBravo1257
      @BeefBravo1257 3 года назад +4

      @@fernanwoodson9928 If anything I would do the RIPP. But honestly, at the point I'm at, it's got plenty of power. I was intrigued by the throttle body and intake manifolds too though. I have seen a naturally aspirated Pentastar put 330+ to the rear wheels though, which is RT numbers. I however do love the sound of the 5.7L Hemi.
      Just a note, you can do the Hellcat lower intake box, headlight pass through and K&N for like $150. That's what I have done with a Scalia MS Diablo ring to accent it. Air temps are consistently at or only a few degrees above ambient with this setup. Only climbing when sitting or in real heavy traffic. Combine that with the options of Magnapacks, Bullets or any of the other weld on muffler options and you are way under the $1500 mark for a few horses and better sound. The tune will set you back a bit though.

      3.6l v6 in the challenger its not any more durable and even has similar horsepower, the 3.6l is actually designed off of the ford Coyote 5.0 a v8 in terms of design and function its just lighter being aluminum and has 6 cylinders to conpensate that instead of 8 but overall a very similar engine just a fun fact for you

    This is what I appreciate about RacerX... he has videos about not modding V6s (cuz of power and actual “raceability” against v8s that aren’t stock) and also releases a whole ass possible mod list for us new SXT (v6) owners. Just got a ‘14 Challenger SXT Rallye Redline and this was a great starting point for looking at bolt ons. After modding the shit out of my past BMW Z4 I was looking for ways to make this heavy ass v6 dodge to feel more like a rippy v6 bimmer. Mad respect man keep doin what you do. Watching every vid now!

    I'm currently driving a 2013 v6 mustang with upgraded CAI and gears (3.55) tuned with steeda. Never liked the transmission it's jumpy and terrible feel here in NY traffic when I'm bumper to bumper. Much better on open road.
    Anyway. I have a baby now and growing my fam, so im considering a charger next. Question is, the gears are like 2.65 on the sxt which seems terrible, can you upgrade gears in an SXT and tune it to get more horsepower or do I need to save more money and get an RT which can be considerably more. I have a feeling in my gut that the sxt is going to feel even more under powered then my v6 stangs felt when I got it.

    CAI and cat-back are nothing but noisemakers.
    The 3.6 is low on torque, and could use a longer stroke (couldn't we all).
    A shorter gear might help, too, although finding a matching ratio for the front diff on AWD cars won't be easy.

    Good to know. If I were buying the GT it would be for the AWD since it's not offered in the V8's. I test drove a 2018 GT and it was great, however, no exhaust note in a Challenger just didn't seem right. I would be fine with it anyway. As for the mods, I would keep it to an exhaust upgrade - I would need proof the CAI would add HP before investing in it. Mainly like BeefBravo1257's comment. New GT's with decent options are just a few thousand under a RT with the same options.
