Matka Canyon, it’s only an hour bus ride away from Skopje and is one of the most breathtaking places I’ve been in the world. You can easily spend a whole day trip there hiking, kayaking, doing a boat tour, exploring caves, and the park has a beautiful diner that serves up local specialties with a wonderful beer, and wine selection.

I’m from Ohrid, and I gotta tell you that the Mavrovo National Park / Canyon area has more beautiful nature that Ohrid. You have to put it on your list for next time
Is it possible to go to the museum of the bay of bones by bus from Skopje?
@@linda-wolff not directly. But you can get to Ohrid and then cab it. My guess for the two way taxi trip you’re looking at €30. During tourist season you can also get buses from Ohrid for dirt cheap.

@linda-wolff you need to get to ohrid first best option is going by bus (company "galeb")and from the city you can either take a mini bus or a van thay is regularly going back and forth in the summer or pay a bit more for a taxi

I wouldn't say Yugoslavia was oriented towards the West, as much as Tito feared the prospect of a Soviet or Warsaw Pact invasion more than a NATO one, but always considered that possibility as well.

I am macedonian and skopje has the most support for wheelchairs but you may have a problem geting in public transport bicuse most of the busses arent equipped with a lift to help a wheelchair to get in but most of the shops are easy to get to and the malls are pretty good for people in a wheelchair
Also ohrid has a lot of stairs and evaluation changes but you can steel get around with a little help from someone
