Sua'lii's "tackle" showed exactly why shoulder charges were banned in both rugby codes twelve years ago. @troystaunton254 we don't care if woman want him or his the center of attention in NRL. What want to see is a great tackle and we got one 😂and unfortunately it was the million dollar kid Reece 😂😂
One player messes up, the whole team and state shouldn't suffer. Send him off then after 10 give them their 18th man. Im a Qlder but i want to see a fair contest.
You do realise you open the door to illegal hits on players to take them out of the game. What your requesting will never happen and should never happen.. I mean seriously... think about it
How is it not fair? He took out one of our players illegally. The punishment for that is being sent off. It's a TEAM sport, he fucked up for his team. It's his fault!
But that's exactly the point. If he was standing at normal height it wouldn't have been a dangerous and careless tackle. And don't try to minimise it by saying it just "looks bad". We know from our study of brain injury (and the numerous former players who suffer CTE etc) that it IS bad. That's why the NRL are stamping it out! Stop trying to make excuses for an egregious mistake.

You let no one down Joseph. It was an unfortunate result from a great tackle. Split second decision to be made from Walsh leaning backwards after his pass. No malice in tackle only the determination to pull off a big hit. That’s what state of origin football is all about and always has been. Big hits are promoted at this level and are expected by the fans. State of origin is losing its punch in my eyes.
I agree that origin is meant to be a tougher game but that was a fucking terrible effort from Suali. He didn’t bend at all in the slightest. Came flying out of line head down. Great debut for him the send off was necessary for sure
The "being targeted" statement is ridiculously redundant. Walsh will be getting tackled for the next 10+ years of his career. He'll be the " target" each time. Im impartial to the send off. But dont be so dramatic. He went for a big hit, didnt pay off, move on.
he's been a target ever since his Origin debut in game 1 last year. Walshys response to getting hit in the air was "keep coming brah keep coming" 🤣🤣 he may be small but he is one hearty fella.
Hey guys, don't "target" or put any pressure on Walsh, you'll risk hurting him. Just let him play his game unhindered... sounds like a good alternate plan. I hope they use this game 2.
Back in the day that would have been called a great origin tackle and the game would have kept going. Bunch of sooks in today’s game and not the same hype from the players anymore
The "victim" 😂 omg it's league not a murder trial, walshy dropped low, Joseph committed to a tackle, it happened in a matter of seconds. Reckless, yes! Send off! For sure! To act like a murder victim! No! Grab your balls and move on.
Anyone that knows anything about league knew the game was done after an early red, origin is meant to be a bit tougher form of the game, highs are highs but could of maybe put him on report and missed the second game, but this has just killed the series before it began
Why blame the ref instead of blaming the player who did the dangerous, careless, reckless tackle that was a shoulder charge? Joseph failed on numerous levels and needs to change his tackling style. the NRL has been cracking down on head knocks for years and anyone who ignores that has their head firmly up their rear.
1. Suaalii, isn’t even good enough to be playing at Origin level. 2. He doesn’t deserve to be playing in Origin considering his move to Rubgy Union. On announcement, the only player Mage The Muppet selected that made zero sense was Suaalii. Hynes was also highly questionable... and thus proved right after game 1. I had 7. Luai , 6. Cody, 4. Latrell and I guarantee you is The Blues best chance of owning the series.
All these people must have been watching a different game to me! Walsh Didn't Slip! You people need to watch it again! And where was the arms around tackle! He lined him up with his shoulder and took him out end of story!!! It was nsw only game plan!!!
I do believe there was a target on Walsh. Sualii intended to give a shoulder charge on Walsh, he didn't even attempt to have his arm around Walsh. Right call by ref.
he wanted to go late and lead with the shoulder, he launched himself. I believe contact with the head was accidental but it was dirty and dangerous and the right call was made
Freeze it at 0:40 and it’s clear Walsh was like he was sitting in a chair and Sualii would have hit him in the chest otherwise. It’s impossible to change position so late. Sure, he hit Walsh in the head, no doubt, but the tackling technique was actually good
If Walsh cant play, neither should Joseph, otherwise it would be a blood bath of our best players being taken out. Blues played better without him anyway.
0:19 Nicho & Teddy are so good they managed to stop an almost-certain try!! Wow! AMAZING NSW - you guys are off to a red hot start!! I think Madge is the One! I think Madge will no. no he wont. Nah i actually like hynes i think hes a gun player.. for a team like cronulla. perfect for cronulla.
Nope, even if he had hit his chest it was a shoulder charge. He didn't even attempt to wrap his arms. And he was horizontal. That used to be okay but the modern game is trying to outlaw knocks to the head, even if they are accidental. It was careless, reckless and stupid. And it cost NSW the game and most likely the series. Stop trying to blame the victim of his stupidity.
As a QLD fan, i was actually gutted Joey got sent off as I wanted to see how hed go on the origin stage. After QLD wins game 2, i hope he still gets a chance to play on G3, even if it is a dead rubber.
Why is people crying over sua'ali'i tackle ref was clear shoulder makes dangerous contact to head red under league A Reckless High Tackle is when a defending player makes forceful contact with the head or neck of an attacking player. The high contact will be deemed reckless when a player foresees high contact before or during the action of a tackle and carries on with the tackle regardless of that risk. A player may “foresee” high contact when starting (or even during) a tackle even if he closes his eyes or looks away at the last moment.
because NSW as a state need something to pin their angers and frustrations on. Remember they have been seething for 12 months and had a year to sort it out. With pretty well the majority of the comp to choose from, they keep fielding a team that leaves NSW as a state depressed more then they were prior and I dont think thats healthy. We see this every year, they end up eating themselves up from the inside and the cycles thus repeats. its so predictable at this point. It may cost them 2-3 series in a row per cycle but its a price they are more then willing to pay. This is the point where you realize the stark contrast in the values that both states place in the phenomena that is origin.
Move on still 2 games to go ,come on NSW,after all Queensland holds the trophy, time for a new coach already, true NSW form, pull your head out of your arse ,pretty boys club

You’re a f’n clown! Leniu thinking it’s soccer with his theocratics. As soon as he wasn’t getting the penalty he was first to hit up next set. Waycist Flog
Klein has set such a dangerous precedent. If you believe this was a send off, basically say goodbye to origin being a game for the toughest. 10 in the bin was deserved but there is a massive difference between this tackle and Latrells tackle on Manu. You can tell when a player is being reckless, Sualii was aiming for his chest.
You Kidding if you think there is a difference both players were Falling at impact and at the time the tacklers Launched to tackle the Attackers their Head dropped half a foot. Walsh slipped before Contact and Manu was pulled down at contact at the Hips by Gagi. Both Reckless accidents happen in high contact sport at emotional games. I dont think both deserved to be send off , both deserved 10 in the bin and penalty.for Reckless
It WAS reckless because it was careless and dangerous. If you had said it was not intentional, I would agree. But that's not the same as reckless. You need to study the definition of reckless. It perfectly fits the definition.
@@GrahameChristianGould if Walsh did not fall, it would have been a textbook tackle. I don’t think it was careless, he was aiming for his chest and Walsh just happened to drop into it.
Incorrect. Textbook for a straight running forward carting ball up. Suali did read Walsh positioning for an offload and was going to hit him whether he had ball or not. Hit was late and high, Joe left ground to make the hit...with Walsh dropping Joe couldn't adjust as he should have been able to because he was airborne. Poor technique...realise he wanted to send message to Walsh for rest of game...blew it. Contact to head...Ref really had no choice.
It seems only half the fans actually care about the precedent that was set last night. Hats off to the Qld fans who actually love origin and want a real contest.
I love seeing the comment that "20 years ago, it wouldn't have been a sendoff." It definitely would have been, go back and re-watch footage, some players were sent off for less back then.
One game in, Madge is on his way to be the most short term coach for NSW. Can't wait for 2nd origin to see the score 56 Qld 6 NSW. Could you hire a more useless coach. I doubt you could. Bring back Freddy, least he had some idea of how to coach. Was Walsh targeted yes. Long may the cain toads rain SUPREME.
I thought Tedesco was offside watching it live, but when watching back at slow speed he was just onside. I also thought DCE was offside when he took the intercept, but again when I watched it back it was ok. The skill levels of the modern players are awesome.
Of cause DCE thought it was the right call to send off, it assisted his team to win. What a stupid question. There was a number of calls in favour of QLD that shouldn't have been made. 13 vs 13 and I think we would have had a closer contested game
And of course NSW defends Suaalii and his dangerous, careless, reckless tackle. Yes, NSW might have won if he didn't go off but don't blame the ref for that. The game has changed and for the better because we don't live in the world you imagine exists.
for starters queensland were already ripping that edge apart while suaali'i was on reece even opened it up again before he got knocked and qld kept opening it up afterwards, secondly queensland played 11 vs 13 last year and still won the game you donkey so how would it have been a closer contest with 13 on 13 when they were already down by 6 and that right edge was already getting shredded LOL
All anyone has to do now is slip into a tackle like Tedesco used to. You can get your opponent sent off. Motm should be Reece Walsh. Hopefully that ref reimbursed all the Blues fans in attendance.
Qld would still have won the game with 12 men.. Its not a new thing to the Mighty Marrons. Too much BS and excuses from NSW..They just dont match the bullet-proof Qld boys yahhh. Of course you have to be aggressive coz rugby league is a tough game, but listen Suaalii, a professional footballer will show his aggressiveness in a more healthy way like GI, Talis and the likes.. Goodbye from origin. Go to rugby. Let the origin game for the Maroon boys. Yes Yah bara
I hope Walsh is okay but I don't believe there was any intent to hit his head. It not the matrix. No 1 can pull out of that when the game is moving that fast.
"No one can pull out of that when the game is moving that fast." Thanks for reminding us exactly why shoulder charges were banned 12 years ago, because the tackler can't pull out and there is a high risk of injury if the attacker moves even slightly. You are trying to defend the indefensible. 33 other players managed to cope with the same fast game by not recklessly launching themselves off the ground shoulder first. If they could do it so could Sua'lii'.
What I saw was a 6’5” guy bend to tackle a 5’10” guy who shrunk another foot while he was passing. The send-off was over the top. And yes Walsh was a target for big hits. I’m sure Queensland had picked a target or two in the Blues side too. Welcome to rugby league everyone. The soccers on tonight if watching real tackles hurts your feelings.
QLD should start selecting shorter and shorter players and have them slide into the ground every time they run and pass the ball. Make any "legal" tackle require a knee in your face or a mouthful of grass.

@user-fe1vx1we4e what are you smokin cuz? Kikau lost his feet and slipped. Suaalaii is a coward.
Of cause JT hits out at NSW, wouldn't expect anything else from him. You can not take anything way from that game, it was over after 7-mins, and he still isn't happy.
Queensland had DCE, New South Wales had Hynes. Go figure.
hynes had the 2nd best stats of the entire game after DCE you donkey Lol his run meters were also over 160m
Excuses haha
Walsh didn’t even play and the media swarmed him like he was man of the match. Sort of sick of Walsh being the centre of attention
He can’t help the media swarming, he keeps to himself but they badger him. Feel bad for Sualli, just a contact sport, tackle went wrong. Move on
Not his fault the media are maggots
@jameswallace83 exactly, Reece dipped, slipped and got knocked out. Move on.
Well he’s in the same position as langer and then Marshall. He’s the guy all the kids want to be he’s the one all the women want. He’s the one that will make rugby league millions if not hundreds of millions over the next 15 years as long as the league protects him and prevents players from going after his head.
@troystaunton254 we don't care if woman want him or his the center of attention in NRL. What want to see is a great tackle and we got one 😂and unfortunately it was the million dollar kid Reece 😂😂

Sua'ali'i out for 4 weeks with a crook shoulder. Might have to use his arms in tackles for the rest of the season.
His arm is away from his body, so the rule book says "fair hit". I'd say Walsh's boot manufacturer is more to blame ;-)
@@odeyjamico6495 Of course!! Why didn't I think of that?

You do realise you open the door to illegal hits on players to take them out of the game. What your requesting will never happen and should never happen.. I mean seriously... think about it
How is it not fair? He took out one of our players illegally. The punishment for that is being sent off. It's a TEAM sport, he fucked up for his team. It's his fault!
It looks bad because Walsh was crouching & going down prior to the collision. If he was standing at normal height at impact its play on!
he leaves the ground friend, the dudes rising into the tackle... its only ever gonna go one way...
It looks bad cause it was bad this guy is a nsw grub clone
@@chiddiru6114when you launch into a shot that happens ya peanut. Your feet leave the ground. Stop turning it into something it’s not.
@dbo4506 something it's not 😂 bloke got sent off you don't get sent off for nothing
The idea is to stop early onset dementia. Kind of important to protect the players.
Why does he have to reach out ??
Still missing the big picture? He still made a debut in the big state of origin good on suali it's a contact sport
Yeah. Almost had more minutes than the captain too. I'd say that's an achievement 👍🏼
Great debut hey definitely one to remember 🤣
The "being targeted" statement is ridiculously redundant. Walsh will be getting tackled for the next 10+ years of his career. He'll be the " target" each time. Im impartial to the send off. But dont be so dramatic. He went for a big hit, didnt pay off, move on.
look at liam martins late hit before this, they were definitely targeting walsh
What's our game plan coach..?
Take Walsh out..
Anything else?
Nope.
he's been a target ever since his Origin debut in game 1 last year. Walshys response to getting hit in the air was "keep coming brah keep coming" 🤣🤣 he may be small but he is one hearty fella.
He's dangerous if you give him space. He jammed up because Walsh makes mistakes under pressure
Hey guys, don't "target" or put any pressure on Walsh, you'll risk hurting him. Just let him play his game unhindered... sounds like a good alternate plan. I hope they use this game 2.
Can someone upload the 2024 state of origin game 1 in full?
Back in the day that would have been called a great origin tackle and the game would have kept going. Bunch of sooks in today’s game and not the same hype from the players anymore

Well dont go high and late next time. Ne angry at Sualii for ruining it
Yeah origin is a bit tougher, doesn’t mean it’s a genocide on beautiful fullbacks. Suallii is to blame no one else.

2. He doesn’t deserve to be playing in Origin considering his move to Rubgy Union.
On announcement, the only player Mage The Muppet selected that made zero sense was Suaalii.
Hynes was also highly questionable...

Classic DCE On The Gwin
All these people must have been watching a different game to me! Walsh Didn't Slip! You people need to watch it again! And where was the arms around tackle! He lined him up with his shoulder and took him out end of story!!! It was nsw only game plan!!!
I think you need to watch again the pink boots are clearly in air before the hit
Class from Sualii
I do believe there was a target on Walsh. Sualii intended to give a shoulder charge on Walsh, he didn't even attempt to have his arm around Walsh. Right call by ref.
he wanted to go late and lead with the shoulder, he launched himself. I believe contact with the head was accidental but it was dirty and dangerous and the right call was made
Freeze it at 0:40 and it’s clear Walsh was like he was sitting in a chair and Sualii would have hit him in the chest otherwise. It’s impossible to change position so late. Sure, he hit Walsh in the head, no doubt, but the tackling technique was actually good
"It's impossible to change position so late". Which is exactly why reckless shoulder charges were banned twelve years ago.
Really , freeze it at 0.40. Baaaahahahahaha😂😂😂😂.
If you freeze it at 80.00 you can see all the tears in the blues players eyes baaaaaaszhahahahahahahahahahaha
Why would he reach out to him? He was slipping and got caught high it wasnt a intentional swinging arm or a king hit
If Walsh cant play, neither should Joseph, otherwise it would be a blood bath of our best players being taken out. Blues played better without him anyway.
Walsh is just soft and a cat! Trying to fold up in the fetal position when he knew he was getting hit.
I agree, even when they win, they are the biggest sooks.

And it will be the same rhetoric till game 3 to keep the ref's in their pocket

I'm sure the crowd at Suncorp will welcome Joey accordingly.
Off the feet and no arms. No choice but to go off
That hit on Walsh was on purpose
Only the hit, not the head contact. Walsh slipped into it otherwise it would have been square in the ribs.
IM A PROUD QUEENSLANDER TODAY

Don't understand why everyone is making a fuss over a tackle that should only have been a sin bin at the most and are just ignoring that hip drop on Spencer. Classic Queensland always playing with 14 men
Lol hip drop. Spencer felt Mo’s arms around his legs and immediately tried to milk a penalty. Embarrassing.
You’re a f’n clown! Leniu thinking it’s soccer with his theocratics. As soon as he wasn’t getting the penalty he was first to hit up next set. Waycist Flog
It wasn't a hip drop. The tackler had his knees on the ground ffs.
The hit on Reece was so horrible - Nsw staff use ethics in your training. What message are u sending to younger players.
It was only because golden boy got knocked tf out that it was a send off
It WAS reckless because it was careless and dangerous.
I’m a Maroons fan, but should’ve been 10 minutes only

One game in, Madge is on his way to be the most short term coach for NSW. Can't wait for 2nd origin to see the score 56 Qld 6 NSW. Could you hire a more useless coach. I doubt you could. I thought Tedesco was offside watching it live, but when watching back at slow speed he was just onside. I also thought DCE was offside when he took the intercept, but again when I watched it back it was ok. The skill levels of the modern players are awesome.
Am I missing something? Did he murder someone or tackle alittle high in a footy game
NSW LOST ENY WAY, SO THAT IT
Qld would still have won the game with 12 men..
Nonsense..this is 70mins.
@daleviker5884 brother he just said it was not intentional he didn't say its a bad call. Stop throwing a sook over everything mister smarty pants
Yep
QLD should start selecting shorter and shorter players and have them slide into the ground every time they run and pass the ball. Make any "legal" tackle require a knee in your face or a mouthful of grass.
Imagine if he didn't slip that tackle would of been mean.
If he doesn’t slip he doesn’t get knocked out. If he doesn’t get knocked out he doesn’t get sent off. If he doesn’t get sent off blues win easily. If blues win easily Sportsbet loses millions
