As someone whose bloodline is as far away from Europe as it could be, traditions like these are things that are though peculiar are what makes humanity so interesting and fun. I've been a fan of the channel since day 1, I'm a Gloucester resident all my life (36 years), I've never had the chance ot go to the cheese roll and I'm doubly gutted that I missed you guys too!
Despite persistent concerns about brain damage by critics, i personally ran the cheese for 20 years and these days I'm completely sane and so are my guardian penguins.
Their long shot at the start is a good perspective. I’ve only ever seen the event on RUclips and that shot from afar looked like a different place it looked so steep. The photos and videos close up make it look like it has depth to the hill which I presume is not actually there.

I used to think these people were just idiots with no sense of self-preservation, but you can see there's actual skill involved. Many people knew when to duck-roll to dissipate energy away from their wrists and neck. The guy in the dark blue shirt and grey trousers somehow managed to slide on his bum when he wasn't running. That was the best. having never watched the cheese roll in regular or slow motion, one of the things i was blown away by was just how meteoric the cheese gets rolling down the hill. Like, imagine being hit by it - ruin your whole week.
It gets to about 70mph and weighs about 8lbs. That's terminal cheese if it hits you.
