      I would have to disagree. I've owned 3 German cars. One of them I currently have. Two of them were high mileage. I also work at an Audi dealer and have seen several high mile vehicles. They can hold up just as well or better than some Japanese cars. Will the cost of maintenance be higher, yes. But the way German cars drive compared to Japanese cars is worth it for me personally. Remember, German cars are engineered to be driven at sustained speeds well over 100 mph on the autobahn for long periods of time. The cost of maintenance reflects that. This is my wife's car and she loves it which is all that matters. I also like the car which is a plus.

    I have the 2009 version of the exact same car. Just passed 230,000km (145k miles). The steering n handling can be fixed by swapping in a thicker rear sway bar; I got a 25.4mm Nismo 370z rear sway that replaced the 17.7mm stock one. Steering is improved by putting in a strut tower bar in the front. These are great all round car;; some wear n tear items to be expected, especially the rear subframe (replaced) if u live in the rust belt!

    My 2013 G37XS has been pretty reliable to me, It has 111K miles now. The only thing that I consider as problem is the front wheel bearings. I had to replace both of them around 70K miles. Given that the roads in the northeast here are not the best, but still 70K, it is questionable.
    Other than that, I stick with my crazy oil change every 3750 miles and my engine has been bulletproof. I did a coolant service around 90K.
    I haven't replaced the spark plugs and clean the throttle bodies yet. I would wait until my mpg deteriorates and the appearance of engine misfire code before I do that, I guess. No biggie.
    So far so good.
    Oh yeah, I talked to an Infiniti mechanic about the longevity of the car. He said the engine is pretty much bulletproof and last for over 200k miles easily unless you abuse it. The key is to wash the car especially the undercarriage. Rust can retire the car prematurely.

    • @IsaacReddinger

      Sounds like you're doing well. I would recommend doing the plugs and cleaning the throttle bodies, especially if you can do it yourself. Be sure to replace your front and rear diff fluids and transfer case fluid also. It doesn't cost much and your maintenance will be up-to-date.

    I have a 09 G37X and love the power and handling, the 3.7 motor is very strong. I have not had hardly any maintenance issues, except for annoying tire pressure lights that cost a lot to replace. It is great for around town or 1 hour drives, but my main complaint is the seat. I took it on a trip from IL to TX and back and my butt and legs hurt the whole way. I am an older man so maybe sciatica comes into play, but a dude 25 years younger than me had the same complaint and he sold his for that reason. Great looking car but wish seat was better. I wonder if it's possible and how much a better drivers seat would cost. I guess the only other issue is the current price of primo gas, I know per tank it is only $10-$15 dollars more, but it eats at you.

    • @IsaacReddinger
      @IsaacReddinger  16 дней назад +1

      Sounds promising! If you can, arrange for a pre-purchase inspection at a local shop you trust or at a local Nissan or Infiniti dealer. It may cost you $1-200, but could be helpful in the long run if they find something major that needs attention. Ours is in great condition, but I have seen some come in as trades where I used to work and they were pretty rough. Also, while a CarFax is not bulletproof, make sure the selling dealer has one of those to show you/give you at time of sale. Look for anything that was a repeat problem that a prior owner had diagnosed or fixed. Check for regular maintenance, inspections etc. You do not have to be scared off by multiple owners if the maintenance was good. Good luck!

      See if you can get the service history. Does it have gaps? Be careful what warranty you buy. Make sure you ask to see what is excluded. Some warranties won't cover fluids or one time use hardware, even if it's needed for the repair. Sometimes they also don't cover the full labor rate. Any difference would be owed by you in the event of a warranty repair. Try to get a warranty from a reputable company like Fidelity/JM&A, Zurich, etc.

      @IsaacReddinger Great advice. I just checked the Carfax and called the Service Department to verify work done. I also called the previous dealer who transferred the car. The salesperson who sold me the car said it has all new fluids. The Service Department said they didn't do anything other than lube and filter. Called the Sales Manager and he says they were done, except the brake fluid. I asked if this is in their records, and he said yes. Good Motto: Trust but verify. Going down later today for them to do the work for free. Always verify what a dealer says as the Car Fax doesn't show everything.

    • @anthonyb.720
      @anthonyb.720 2 года назад +1

      AWD is the best option, its rear-biased until it detects slippage and then it applies power where needed. helps plant the power down and helps in snow. there is also a specific snow mode in the awd g37 ... im actually planning to buy a 2012 g37x myself

    • @IsaacReddinger
      @IsaacReddinger  2 года назад +2

      You'll enjoy the overall package of the car when compared to a Camry as they were intended for different purposes. The G series was designed to compete with the BMW 3 series and Audi A4. You will be happy with either the RWD or AWD models, but most people appreciate the extra capability of AWD over the better steering feel of the RWD model. No matter which one you get, since you're in Ottawa be sure to get winter tires (though I'm sure that's common practice for you). Enjoy!

    • @IsaacReddinger
      @IsaacReddinger  2 года назад

      Anthony, I can't say I 100% agree as it depends on each person's needs. Where we live here in Pennsylvania, we could easily get away with RWD and winter tires, which I would prefer. Most people who live in the south/south west would be better off with the RWD as there would be no real benefit to having the AWD model. As you said it is 100% RWD until there is slip. If a person lives where they rarely to never get snow, they're just carrying around the extra weight of the AWD system for no reason AND losing the excellent steering feel of the RWD model.
