    Fun fact: The G35, G37, Q50 and Q60 are actually the next generation of the Skyline family. As a matter of fact, in Japan these models carry on the emblems of Nissan Skyline (G37/Skyline 370GT, G35/ Skyline 350GT, Q60/ Skyline 400R...). So if you had one of these, well, you've just basically owned a Nissan Skyline with the power of a Nissan Z.

      @Lawrence_McKnight Год назад +11

      Thank you!!! I’m glad people are staring to accept this fact. But, you have to tell them that Gs and Qs are not a GT-R… they are Skylines in Japan. Only difference is LHD vs RHD.

    • @ethanwinters9619
      @ethanwinters9619 Год назад +11

      @@Lawrence_McKnight Yes, Im glad that someone just realized that these cars are actually Skylines. However, the 2009-2023 Nissan GTR is NOT a Skyline model. It has been confirmed by Nissan that the new GTR will be a stand alone model so it's basically a Nissan GTR, not a Skyline.

Super reliable, solid power and fun to drive, and a pretty good interior even in 2023. Faily strong mod scene makes it fun to own/mod yourself without spending a ton of $ on parts. After 10 years of ownership, I have zero complaints! Not sure if I'd be saying the same if I bought a BMW 3 series instead

    I went from driving a G35 coupe with a manual transmission to a G37 S coupe with a manual transmission. Its only lightly tuned but will run with cars way out of its price range (918's, C36's, M4 and M8's to name a few). Even at being 16 years old and over 100K miles it will perform at a high level which to me is what originally made the GT-R's famous. They was competing toe to toe with cars twice their cost. And the skylines continue to do so even today.

  • @johninnh4880
    @johninnh4880 Год назад +16

    I had a G37 IPL with the 3.7, and now have an AWD 2018 Q50. The difference in handling was huge. The G37 was lighter and much more nimble. Sooooo I replaced the dampers on my Q with RS-R DDS compatible coilovers, along with an aftermarket rear anti swaybar which helped a LOT. THEN larger heat exchanger, front and rear LSD's, Level 10 transmission upgrade, Pure stage 2 turbos, larger injectors, High flow cats, CBE, and higher volume fuel pumps. I "IPL-ed" my Q50. The G37IPL came just fine from the factory. A supercharger might have been an option for more power, but I was pretty pleased with it in the OEM IPL trim. I did end up getting a 800 HP GTR. I should have kept my Q50 stock in hindsight, and gotten the GT-R sooner, not spending the $20K in aftermarket parts for my Q50. The Q60 is a beautiful looking car, unfortunately it's nothing like the old z. The new Z is also nothing like the old Z, and not in a good way. Nissan should have just dropped in the 3.0T into the old Z and called it quits.

      Yeah, that was the problem with the old Z's though.. it was OLD. Yes they could hv redesigned it and put the new 3.0l in the new body, but honestly, everyone would have been expecting a ground up new car and not just another redesigned Z instead. Changing of the times doesn't always mean it's all better. But, if they can make new better than old, give em a chance to tweak the new new to be a better upgraded advancement. A few years to start mixing the new tech to out perform the old developed models. It's the babysteps of progress.

    I grew up racing dirt karts so naturally always wanted a drift car. Ive always thought of the G35 as my achievable dream drift daily. Manifestation and hard work lead me to a 2004 G35 premium package in ivory pearl white with black interior and the 6 speed RWD. By far the best car ive ever owned and will never part ways with it. My only complaint is the cooling systems can be a little hassle. This car was "cheap" there for a while and i feel grateful finding such a rare spec with alot of bolt ons and full set of drift spares. Would recommend 100% if possible, the parts can be spendy but there's also cheap parts you can take a chance on. Drift tax is real people!

      My '08 G37 taught ME how to drift! Literally, I had tried many times; until one day while taking a corner in 2nd gear while revved high. Upon shifting into 3rd; the car smoothly let go of rear traction and I drifted until I released the steering wheel, let off the gas, and let the G correct itself. In that moment, I understood. Went on to master the drift in my G. I miss that lil whip.❤

    Dont sleep on the Q. The VR30 has been out for awhile now and if you dont follow bonnie & clyde racing or racebox or even Boostnmotion, youre playing yourself. The Gs are amazing for sure, but the VR30 can make 500lb torque easily. It may not be manual anymore (this is why you buy the Z), but the skyline DNA is there. Its still a tuner luxury car and its still great.

    I had a couple versions but my 03 sedan was a total monster with only a cold air intake and resonator delete. I literally destroyed everything with it, no exceptions. Never had a car that would break loose when you kicked it down at 50mph even with performance rubber. It would rev so fast the tires never stood a chance. A set of headers and full performance exhaust toned down the explosiveness and made a drifter out of it. I was finally able to modulate the throttle enough to keep it from around in circles on me. And the sound of a VQ with headers and not an obnoxious fart was magical lol.
    Best car ever!

      @@investinjahcoin5029I'm not you and my car was not the same as yours. Your problems are not mine. Your G is bigger and heavier just to start with. A friend had a stock 08 G37 S Coupe and it wasn't anything like mine, it was pretty but not particularly quick. I never lost a race with that engine under the hood. I had a seemingly oddball engine, built on a good day or by the right guy I guess. I've had 4 VQs and this was the special one. It's uniqueness is what kept me coming back to see if they were all made this way but they weren't unfortunately. It revved so fast nothing could take it off the line. I had to spend some $ to fill the real wheel wells with the best rubber I could afford to keep the spinning down and it was on at least it's second rear transaxle (newest was an LSD) as the original couldn't handle the snap that this thing would give it off the line forever. My family are speed freaks, we've put together some balanced up & built big block Dodges and small block Chevy's. This engine reminded me of the balanced 327 we did, it would rev instantly and freely from an idle. My G smoked Mustang GTs, Beemers, GTPs, a WS6 Trans Am and even an older Ferrari (not a particularly fast one but a fun car to say I beat though lol). Sadly I believe it's "looseness" and free revving also were it's demise as it grenaded on the highway one day on the way to work. I changed the engine and added more goodies to the new engine but it wasn't even close to my old one. More docile and manageable to hold sideways in a drift but definitely not as quick in a straight line rip. I even let my teenage daughter drive it with the new engine, it was actually a huge disappointment because it wasn't the same ripper it used to be. Such a shame that it wasn't as quick but I found out that a VQ with headers and big pipe stainless exhaust has an absolutely incredible sound that I really miss.

      You do realize Nissan had twin turbo cars before the vqs came out. The vr30 in the q60/ Nissan z sounds amazing with a borla exhaust, and the borla exhaust is sadly the only good sounding exhaust for the car by far(look at my shorts). The engine is so much better then the vqs in terms of making power. E85 and vrx70 turbos by z1 gets you 789 wheel horsepower(max effort), or 722whp(conservative). You’d could also get 1000 wheel horsepower out of ams alpha 10 turbos, but you’ll need to build the engine. Stock the q60 sounds like a vacuum because it has 4 catalytic converters and a big muffler.

      Yup, so instead of spending a lot of money just to get a new Nissan 400Z, you can actually get a Q50 or Q60 with the exact same engine but a lot more cheaper.

    So the Q50 was offered in its first gen with a 3.7 then it’s second gwn has options for the 3.5 hybrid and a 3.0T
    The Q60 was originally just a rebadged g37 coupe with the same 3.7 motor but when it switched to the new body it was offered with either a 2.0t or a 3.0t
