As a G owner I can’t understand why people would want to tune this vehicle, it is one simply one of the most beautiful vehicles for its time. It also makes more than enough power and it’s a great daily driver. High mileage don’t seem to affect the car much apart from having to do your standard maintenance and occasional hardware replacement. It is a great car for a cheap and nice sport-luxury vehicle.
I had a lot of fun with mine before I sold it. Honestly would make a great daily if it didn't get such atrocious gas mileage. The Lexus 2gr fse and BMW M54 and N52 got at least 30mpg highway and 23-25 combined while I struggled to average 20mpg even dipping down to 17mpg at times. At that point, you might as well grab a V8 car.
@@nateTrh get ya, gas is one of its biggest downsides. Although to be fair any old v6 car would have the same issue, at least I assume. Although what would you say a good alternative is to the G35? There are not a lot of cars at the same price for what the G offers
@gamerpro4667 If you're ok with slightly less power, E46 sedans and coupes are around the same price with much nicer interiors and easier to work on engines. Besides that, there's sadly not anything else in the immediate price range. IS350's generally cost $1-3k more and 335i BMW's generally cost more in terms of maintenance but can make huge power. Once you hit the $15-20k price point though, a lot of options open up but I'd say Infiniti and BMW are the only ones that offer used, 6 cylinder, manual, rwd cars for under $5k.
Another thing I can add to this video is if you’re looking for a really reliable winter car definitely get the G35x (the all wheel drive model) I bought mine 2 years ago with 132k miles and it had Michelin Defender tires brand new. Easily the best winter vehicle I’ve ever owned, I’ve never gotten stuck in Idaho snow conditions, still completely stock and I’ve driven it 33k miles in 2 years and I’ve only replaced the radiator and wheel bearings. Doesn’t burn any oil or coolant so you could say I scored with this car. Super underrated well priced winter driver for anybody looking.
As a 45 year old professional, I'm looking for a low to mid mileage unmolested G35 coupe manual as a fun commuter/GT car. Always thought this car looked so good. Mild lower, wheels as suggested, debadge, going for OEM+ look.
I really appreciate the deep dive into the G35. Ive owned mine for a few years now & been keeping it as clean as possible with no ricer mods. Just a beautiful OEM body
My dream budget infinity drift car would be a G35 sedan with a VK56DD motor out of the titan. That motor can put down around 480WHP on E85 and is capable is roasting 4th while in drift.
I have an 06’ AWD… been wanting to build off the AWD platform but haven’t found much info on if it can handle 400+ hp. Usually AWD G35’s aren’t ragged out since they really aren’t drift rockets…Can you turn it into a AWD monster???

I think a series on the history and weird uses of engines would be neat. Like how Honda heads and blocks are kinda Lego. Or maybe how the ecoboost engines evolved from the Mazda MZR. Could even go into mods that work with and are available across the engine families.
The G35 coupe was my to go too when I was in my early 20s, slapped some TE37s, Tien Coilovers, Nismo Exhaust, Nismo CAI, and the Brembo calipers swap. But she was auto :/ and making any real power out of it was out of my budget. So I got an S14 😂. Still love the model but it’s sad to see it being the front runner for takeovers:(.
Only thing to worry about is your slave cylinder going out, replacing the fluid every year, and making sure your oil valley gasket is replaced on time.
I have my vq for 10 years no problem is daily car 40 miles to work only thing im done wheel bearing chain guide and chain and clutch i have over 15k on the car i loved no regrets
Surprised you didn't mention a plenum spacer (for VQ35DE) as the first mod. Very affordable, and an instant noticeable improvement. A drop in high flow air filter yields pretty much the same results as a pricey intake.
Great video, I've been on the fence to pick one of these up. You mentioned suggestions for a video. How about the longest-running Mustang generation "Fox Body" ?
Man this video is just facts. Didn't know I'd be a VQ lover or owner until I got one to flip.. Man these cars look good, especially stock like you said. Easily the best car for under $3k and for $5k CAD theres a super nice 6MT sedan near me with decent mileage and 370z wheels that oddly match the car. I'm 16 and kinda bad at flipping cars tho so I can't afford it, and my dream daily's been a Civic with some probably never before seen modifications for a 7th gen.
As an owner of a G (G37) I can proudly say that it's freaking awesome. My car currently has 138k miles on the odometer without any issue. In the past 3 years of ownership, all I did what changing its fuel pump, fuel sending unit, drive belt and brake discs. And that was pretty much it. However, the G series is infamous for it's oil consumption problem (G35) and fragile coolant hose problem that causes the car to lose coolant fluid but these should be an easy fix. Otherwise, these cars don't have that much of a problem at all. Great prices, reliable engine and fun to drive. Just keep this in mind, don't be a d*ck and do stupid takeover stuffs and you'll save ur car a ton of problems.
This was a good video. Glad you helped ppl on specs but the sedans are always left out when it comes to mods. Only thing i can say is you def cant fit wheels past 9.5 on them. & my opinion on the skyline badge is the fact the car is a skyline everywhere else but here in the US but ppl love to act like ppl say they own a GTR just cause they have skyline badges on the car lol not that serious. Another things these cars aint cheap! Maintenance is still expensive & so are quality mods.
Personally, if you get a G35, auto or manual, go for any of the 05-07 ones, those year ones have a bunch of updated things from interior to suspension to engine stuff and even some exterior things, the 05-06 coupe autos come with the normal DE with a bunch of updated stuff such as fixed oil pump issues and a upped rpm limit, auto/manual 07 sedans came with the VQ35HR as well as being a part of the V36 chassis rather than being a V35, the 05-06 Coupe manuals did come with the rev up but... if you want oil issues then go for it. Basically imo, go for a 05-07 G35 rarher than an 03-04 G35... also do be careful when looking up parts for an 03-04 or 05-07 because they revised a LOT of things...
Ive been following you for a long time. But my car is a little out of your normal. My baby is an 89 Lincoln lsc. Basically a mustang but no aftermarket support for the body
If the S13 market is anything to go by, you want to *keep it stock* (or at least reversible mods). In 5 years it will really stand out, and it will likely be worth a decent amount of cash.
350z/G35 is the modern S13 Pretty decent cars, totally let down by a majority of their owners. I owned a 2003.0 G35 sedan, and a 2011 G37xS coupe. Both were really good cars to me For the prospective owners, these cars are cheap enough you owe it to yourself to get one with the HR series engine (2007+). The VQ35DE was a reconfigured Maxima engine effectively, the HR was truly built for a RWD application changing around ~80% of the parts.
Recently acquired a moonlight pearl white 2012 G25 Journey that, despite multiple owners, is in nearly PERFERCT condition...I mean, the leather seats inside arent even worn or cracked. I have seen brand new cars in worse condition than this car the ONLY points of concern are that a previous owner scraped up the front bumper just in front of both tires (obviously misjudging a few inclines) and the driver side fog light is cracked. That is literally it, the rest of the car looks like it just rolled fresh off the factory floor. I was SHOCKED at how low the price was from the dealer for it, and was even more shocked what they ended up taking for me to drive off in it. Sticker was $7,250. I managed to walk off for $5k including TTF and all that (so $4250 for the car itself without the fees and such). I dont plan to modify it at all. Not putting a 37 engine, not messing with the exhaust, not messing with the wheels...this isnt a 35 or 37 anyway, but Im not a "sports car" guy. I get that out of my system plenty by just playing Need For Speed or Midnight Club games lol. I plan to just take real nice care of the car and let it be the luxury car it was supposed to be. Going to put new oem fog lights on, get the bumper touched up in matching moonlight pearl white, and thats it. This car is just too gorgeous for anything else. With how few of these Infiniti made and sold in the US, I think it would be a CRIME to do ANYTHING to this car. This is, hopefully, my "million mile car". (181k miles when I got it. These cars can easily hit over 300k if properly cared for)
Most of the VQ community recommends against the K&N Typhoon intakes, they are restrictive and very prone to heat soak, all the evidence suggests you will actually lose power with them.

It also makes more than enough power and it’s a great daily driver. High mileage don’t seem to affect the car much apart from having to do your standard maintenance and occasional hardware replacement. It is a great car for a cheap and nice sport-luxury vehicle.
Mo Powa, baby
I have the JDM wagon equivalent of the G35, here in New Zealand. The G35 only has a bad rep inside the US, everywhere else it's great.
I just picked up my 2006 coupe manual with only 49k miles! Stoked to be driving a super clean example!❤
I was cross shopping the g and the z back in the day and went g so I had a back seat
That intake is not compatible with the G35 Coupes. Sedan and 350z only
As a 45 year old professional, I'm looking for a low to mid mileage unmolested G35 coupe manual as a fun commuter/GT car.
Main one everyone forgets about is the 06 6mt came with a rev up motor and option of hicas
I have that on mine
@@g35tho11 my dawggggg
@@g35tho11 what’s your ig
I have an 06’ AWD… been wanting to build off the AWD platform but haven’t found much info on if it can handle 400+ hp. Usually AWD G35’s aren’t ragged out since they really aren’t drift rockets…Can you turn it into a AWD monster???
Slap a VR30 7AT transmission can handle higher hp levels
Your multitude of videos on this car makes me think you actually love this car.
my z been down so long cause i couldn’t afford to fix it as it wasn’t my daily. z went to 3 different shops on a tow truck and now it’s finally getting fixed. i never had a chance to swing it and when it went out i got super depressed and felt like that was the last time i was gonna drive the car, it’s that good. paid for parts ($1249) and i’m looking at about that in labor once the car is done. pray for me. shop is like an hour drive deep into orlando so that means i get a nice cruise home. i’m definitely going sideways if this all works out
It’s not useless as my cousin just got his first car and it’s a 2006 G35 Coupé and it helped him a lot so thx for that
06-07 coupes equipped with the sport package also had an option for rear wheel steering
I think a series on the history and weird uses of engines would be neat. Like how Honda heads and blocks are kinda Lego. Or maybe how the ecoboost engines evolved from the Mazda MZR. Could even go into mods that work with and are available across the engine families.

As a G35 owner, we get a bad rep from these takeover kids 😢
Eyyyyy Alex! As a Filipino I love that you're playing Christmas songs in September in the background 😂
how about a the Q50 next.
I absolutely love this video! Love knowing more about my car man! Thank you!
Hr and VHR issue
I have my vq for 10 years no problem is daily car 40 miles to work only thing im done wheel bearing chain guide and chain and clutch i have over 15k on the car i loved no regrets
06' Coupe RAS ---> Talk about it Alex. Nobody knows what an RAS Coupe is! Rare, hard to find. Mid 06-07 G35 Coupe only.
It's a banger!
Need help with a throwout bearing issue. Is this something that needs to be replaced asap?
Surprised you didn't mention a plenum spacer (for VQ35DE) as the first mod. Very affordable, and an instant noticeable improvement. A drop in high flow air filter yields pretty much the same results as a pricey intake.
Hey man proud of you, hope you’re taking care of yourself.
Lets get a 20 minute video on the lexus 2nd gen IS that covers IS250, 350, and ISF.
Great video, I've been on the fence to pick one of these up. You mentioned suggestions for a video. How about the longest-running Mustang generation "Fox Body" ?
This guys awesome! I loved the video, thanks for the information 😌
I’m in Orlando and actually thinking of buying one. I have a 2020 Q50 but the G35 seems intriguing to me. lol
Alex is The Fitment god😮
Can you make one of these about the g37? I just got a 2012 g37xS and want to know more about it
This was a good video.
The g35 used to be my dream car for years, now I love the 5th gen prelude but the G is growing on me again idk which to pick😭
Please do 370gt /g37
I love my g coupe 6mt Brempo , you also forgot to mention that the big brakes only came in 2003 2004 only
If the S13 market is anything to go by, you want to *keep it stock* (or at least reversible mods). In 5 years it will really stand out, and it will likely be worth a decent amount of cash.
Im gettin my thermastat changed soon on my g35, she been so reliable almost 171k 🥰
Need a video like this for the TSX
I love them but unless I swapped one right away I couldnt handle the VQ
I love my grandpa sedan!!!! I have had no issues and more and more people saying they like it!
Can you do a video on the G37S coupe 6speed please. I have a 08.
First time I’ve seen a bigger headlight eye lid like mine !
I want one (or g37) so bad. When they’re clean they’re so nice looking.
Had one years ago. Still think it one of the cleanest and good looking cars today
350z/G35 is the modern S13
Pretty decent cars, totally let down by a majority of their owners.
I owned a 2003.0 G35 sedan, and a 2011 G37xS coupe. Both were really good cars to me
For the prospective owners, these cars are cheap enough you owe it to yourself to get one with the HR series engine (2007+).
The VQ35DE was a reconfigured Maxima engine effectively, the HR was truly built for a RWD application changing around ~80% of the parts.
Nice video ! Could you do the same with the Volvo P2 platform ?
Owned a G35 sedan. As a daily it was somewhat reliable. Fuel guage can be a pain in the butt.
Tip, just wrap the headlights in clear vinyl , ez clear
This was once my attainable dream car.
Could we get one for the Genesis coupe, they aren’t talked about much
2 years after picking up my 2005 G35 and the "process" continues, despite a few setbacks and disappointments
It’s a skyline, Americans just created the illusion that Skyline means GTR while in Japan Nissan threw that name on anything sporty😂
What’s up alex it’d be cool to see a 370z video
I agree
@MartiniWorksOfficial Can you do a "How to modify" for the SC300/400?
so sad that so many gs ruined gotta keep them clean
Ohhhh , this make sense why the g35 engine is still in Nissan frontier, murano, maxima , pathfinder
Whats the background beat during the "modifying a g35" section of the video?
G37/Q60… recently got a 15’ Q60 😅
commenting before i watch i hope there’s some 1st gen sedan content
Just like WRX and STI separate from the Impreza name in 2015
I'd really love to hear about the next generation the G37 and get a more in depth video about them. Not much info about them out there unless you're in that group
Could you cover Toyota Vitz/yaris 2005-2008
Short ram intakes AKA hot air intakes. You'll be better off with the stock intake boxes.
The G35 was really the car to have back then. They have aged terribly but there’s nothing like a well kept 6MT G35.
