Graduated high school in 1983. Listened to bands like The Jam, Aztec Camera, Tears For Fears, Echo And The Bunnymen and this band among many others. This was one of my all time favorites. 57 now and I see the time in my face and can't believe how much time has passed. Friends passing, old relationships, thick dense memories still haunt me when I hear this song. I know in my heart we will all be ok. Many dear blessings all.
I'm with you; I graduated in '84 and hit 58 last February, this is always on my playlist when I'm in my car. If you're like me and listen to this on long drives, you might find yourself zoning back to your youth and forgetting where your going, so drive safe! 😄
I agree! Loved them in the early 80s, and still love the music now! However, I think that PWs reflections are not that positive? I always feel he is embarrassed by The Style Council? I could be completely wrong.
I remember going on an early morning bicycle ride in the mid-1980s while listening to this song on my Walkman. It was about 5:30am, still dark and not a car on the road. I put in 70 miles that day. This song takes me right back to that summer morning.
This is surely one of the best songs ever. Partly it is knowing what Weller had done previously, but the tone, the tempo, the Jazz, the change from before, the trumpet, for people of a certain age it is a place in time.
I remember getting stationed at R.A.F. Chicksands in Bedfordshire England in 1982. (U.S.A.F.) I was already a fan of The Jam, and after I'd been there for a few weeks, a guy that was shipping out for the states sold me a beautiful Raleigh 18 speed road frame for 50 bucks! (It was common for guys leaving for home to give, or sell cheap, things like bikes, cars, etc) And a buddy of mine.. we'd ride 20 miles or more through rural Bedfordshire. Memories!
Looks like it was filmed on the avenue at Kentwell Hall, Long Melford, Suffolk. I have driven, ridden, and walked, along there many times in the last 40-odd years - and have even staggered along there in the opposite direction after closing time at The Hare, The Swan, and various other pubs.
Love this song so much and as time goes on, I realize the genius that is Paul Weller, especially at that time in the 80's when he was really going out on a limb with this style change from being in such an iconic punk band. Cheers PW and the Style Council!
I lived in London in 1984-5-6 ...... sometimes I listen to a song, like this one, and I'm instantly transported back to those days with the memories coming back vivid and clear. Sitting here in 2020 my "London days" seem a lifetime away most of the time ... funny how a song(s) can trip your brain to time travel.
I feel the same way. I lived in Laguna Beach, CA when this came out. Sunny days and driving in my car. Still beautiful music. It stands the test of time. Just like I'll always love Elvis Costello's first five albums.

I think the issue people have is that Style Council was such a radical departure from what The Jam were. What a lot of the "haters" don't understand is that Paul Weller has always been a fan of American RnB and soul. Even The Jam kind of started off that way and when punk exploded, they were influenced by it and went in that direction (at least in the beginning).
I am 58 (feel like I'm 21 again when I listen to these great tunes). Happy days, seems like yesterday- but can we agree....80s music saw some original, talented, fascinating and brilliant innovations in many music genres. Even Weller here, his involvement in post punk alt rock and softer melancholic stuff like this is an incredible tribute to him and his supporting musicians. Just a great time to be an appreciator of good talent, then and now, at my age.
Brilliant song was in London staying with mates , over from Dublin bought the 12inch single version in H.M.V. great song love Weller seen the Jam !! Living in the States now miss those days .☘️

When I was young in the eighties, I never understoud why The Jam ended and we get stuck with The Style Council. Now years later I do understand and listen more to this then ever.

This is one of those bands that came on in the 80's very quietly but still very stong. Always respected the lyrics and sound of the Style Council, have not hear a band quite like them since.

Another classic. Paul Weller can do no wrong. From the Jam to the Style Council to his solo work. Classic. Brings back fond memories.

I went to see him in Sydney, it's amazing many of his Ozzie fans are totally unaware of either the style council or his solo work
In 1984, The Style Council stated "My Ever Changing Moods" would woo fans. In 2024, it still does. Everchanging is Everlasting!

I have forgotten about this song! Haven't heard it since the 80s. Thanks for the memories of my young adulthood 🙂
Omg Great song! Great video! The voices, the harmonies, the chugging guitars, the horns, the drum fills, the bikes and dancing ladies in white! It awesome overkill
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
Good video. Notice they both win, congruous with the bands message - how much can be accomplished when we work together.
