This fantastic song was years ahead of its time. I never stop wanting to hear it.
You had to be from the eighties to realise and appreciate how different this was to everything else around at the time. A true masterpiece that had an impact on music for the rest of the decade. Like a lot of eighties music, it sounds as fresh and modern as anything today.

When my father heard West End Girls for the first time in 1985, he had the feeling that a new era in music was being ushered in. This new synth melody with its melancholy undertone fascinated him. And indeed, the Pet Shop Boys revolutionized Disco/Pop music at that time. My dad thinks it's still a milestone today, and so do I. He made me a huge PSB fan and if I have kids someday, they'll grow up with their songs too❤

At that time, we received this song through radio transmitters of neighboring countries because there was no free music in our country. In it I wanted to know how a western teenager lives and this song always brings me back to that era. sadness and hope
