@D Almanza While there is a movie called "Les Yeux Sans Visage" this song is about ending a bad relationship with a deceiving partner; the "eyes without a face" is the moment you're arguing and are consumed by their lying eyes unable to see anything else. Hope you never understand it.

When I was younger (I’m now 18) me and my Dad used to listen to this in the van, every weekend without failure this song would play. I love you Dad, I miss our adventures X.
Cherish those memories with your dad. I know for a fact he loved those memories with you, cuz I know that's what's my dad would do with me. People always talk about regret of not visiting a loved one and that kills you inside. The endless possibilities. I'm really sorry for your loss .

Billy Idol just seemed to have the world by the short and curlies. back in the 80's. I'm still in love, have 2 vinyl albums from that era.I'm 66 now, and still can't get enough of that guy. Where is he now?
I had a friend who was a fan of Billy Idol. At the end of my Sophomore year of High School I remember being at a party and we sat on the roof listening to this song at night. In my senior year he passed away in a car accident, and now whenever I hear this song I think of him.
It didn't matter what time it was, if I was sitting in my 1968 Mustang after this song came out and it was on the radio, I'd have to wait until it was over before getting out. Absolutely adore the tempo change, and the girls slapping their butts in the video. I was sorry to hear years later that Billy had a serious medical issue with his contact lenses and the fog machine after shooting the video. It's still an awesome reminder of a favorite song from a favorite time in my life.
Love Billy Idol! ⭐️🙌🏼🖤 I’m 16 years old, but I’ve always felt so connected, fascinated & inspired to the amazing 80s🌈 This song always makes me think, and get my troubles away...
Mesmerizing classic from the 80's. Eternal 80's. Everybody tried to dress their best. They believed in the future. They looked to the stars. Things were really moving. One of the songs that will live forever. Oh my.
I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s it was a way different time. Glad I got to see the last of the real times of life! Idk what you call this time in life ????????
@@Keepingitreal815 Post "Golden Years". These were the children from the 50's, 60's and 70's that led to their success. America was an Icon to the whole World then. Stardard of living was great. The wealth gap was narrowest since the 20's. Solution for today? Take care of our country and children, but add in the enviornment.
@@Keepingitreal815 Same, I was born in 77 so I remember the real world lol Now we have entered the Matrix or something! Everything was great in the 80's and 90's from the music, to the movies, and TV shows, well T.V is better now but.... Lol the clubs were fun, I love Pop music like this and being from Queens New York, I'm a huge Hip Hop head and I got to grow up with Hip Hip being part of the culture as a Graffiti writer, going to all the concerts and shows, actually going on dates after meeting a gal I met in person, not meeting a stranger on the computer then that akward feeling when the date starts cause we never met yet even though we have been texting lol not talking.... Things have changed so much for the worst!
I lost my friend in 1992. We were listening eyes without a face over and over again. She died very young but i still remember how beautiful and cheerful she was. For u Jenny!!!
Same, back in the 8th grade I remember a girl that I was friends with she was a poor soul; she was one of those people that wanted to "die" and I was somewhat friends with her and; to cut the story short she got ran over by a mini-van and die in the hospital (I don't remember) I didn't cry about it but, I want to and my head get over it and I did; kinda or I would not be writing this lol [true story]
I was 18 in 1984. How I wish I could go back in time and relive the wonderful 1980s. The music, the films, the friends I had, where I worked - everything was just wonderful back then.
Never have I ever shut anyone up on a road trip until I played this song. My friends and I were smoking and joking up until this song came up on my 80s playlists and all of us just piped down, laid back, and listened to this song in awe. Nothing beats the feeling this song gives
"Eyes Without a Face" explores the internal struggle between desire and alienation, reflecting a fragmented self and the pain of emotional disconnection. From philosophy, the song raises existential questions about alienation, emptiness and identity in human relationships. The “faceless eyes” figure acts as a potent symbol of dehumanization, loss of meaning, and the struggle to find authenticity in an emotionally distant world.
I'm 56, I lived the 80's, oh, man, what a time, what a time! Total nostalgia from that time, this song is a time machine. I'm still listening to it in 2024!
People today cannot understand it. Yet at the same time, they are intuitively trying to compete with it, and to annihilate the 80s. It leaves visible and invisible impact that each future decade has severely tried to ignore and defeat.
Oooooh yea! E proprio così, questi sono gli anni 80! A great and Unbelievable decade! But not for music only! La miglior decade della mia vita👍🙏❤️💕💥🌟⭐️🌈💫💫💫✨
I heard this song half drunk at a party and had no clue what it was for 2 years. For 2 WHOLE YEARS I had the melody in my head, and every so often I'd hum or whistle it to anyone I thought might know it, no luck. Then out of nowhere I was whistling it at work one day, and my supervisor happened to be walking by and he was like, "Billy Idol?" I wasn't sure, and neither was he, but a google search of "Billy Idol french song" later and boom, one of my favorite songs ever since. Thanks, Randy!
Well, that is the gift. When a writer or group of writers perfect a song that you are barely aware of yet it's cleverness and melodic arrangement is enough to trigger your memory over and over. That is why these stars sell stupid millions of records. The ability to craft a song around a melody that won't leave you...
@@Swonder1972 Believe it or not, Alex Van Halen once expressed a similar thought, saying "It's not easy to stay within the basic rules of songwriting and write a song that's memorable." He was referring to composers who change keys and tempos within a song in the effort to be clever. And I paraphrased his comment, of course, but that was the gist.
Makara, thank you for letting me know that, what a cool 😎 saying. Billy was a cool dude, that's what your trying to say, yea he has good music, lets keep rocking to it. 🎸 🎸 🎶 🎶 🎧 🎧
If the young ones need proof, they only need look at the decades pre and post. Little change from the start of the 70s and 90s til then end, but the 80s? Everything changed. Everything
I was born in 1970 and you're totally right!! The 80's were a great time!! In my country (Venezuela) this song was a hit!!! I need a time machine ASAP!!!
@mufathxn, NO NOT 40! Ikr? Soon to be 50! I'm not giving you orders, but if you just listened to this song, Rush's "Time Stands Still" really compliments it. If only CD's still sold, we could sell mix-tapes, and buy happiness!
Yeah. Billy Idol is somewhere between cool as fk and cheesey but he stays on the cool as fk side. I love his music. He even sounds great all these long years later. He hasn't lost it; yet.
I hate to say bad things about this gen. Of music but I will say I’m so glad I grew up in the early 80,s and 90,s . My life was run to a soundtrack of this music and so much more.
Yup me 2, I am now 49 and I’ve had a great life. Thank you all 4 grandparents and parents. I can now die happy any day now if I had 2. Not afraid of death anymore. Never wanted to get married and my only son now 19.
I lost my wife to cancer about 4 years ago. Hearing this song reminds me of lying in bed with her late at night watching videos on MTV. We were young looking forward to our lives together. We never got to spend many of our golden years together though and I long for those good times back in the 80s. 🥺
I was 10 years old when this song appeared. I give millions of thanks to the universe for having had a childhood with New Wave as a soundtrack, every day!
This song always takes me back to when my heart was broken. I kept hoping time would fix the feelings of betrayal but it never did. I learned that some things never get fixed and the pain is eternal. But I still love this song, it's one of my all time favorites.
I didn't realize how lucky I was being 20 years old in the 80s I wouldn't trade those days for anything,I wish we could get back to the vibe we all had back then
I remember going on vacation, packed in huge Pontiac with my sister, brother in law, nephew and a cousin, heading to Nashville. I remember this song played on the radio several times during our trip. The adults eventually got tired of us kids singing along. RIP Judy and Anthony, I miss you both.
Have you ever used to Loved someone by looking into their eyes and seeing how pure it was, then now you look at them for who they actually were, those eyes vanished with the love you gave them, now all you see is a empty shell of a person, deep song
Matthew Vasquez I like your interpretation of the song....but it's actually about Billy's addiction to heroin. The words are him talking to the drug and also his feelings about how it's so hard to quit it, and how it tricks you into relapsing.
"Eyes Without a Face" is a song by British musician Billy Idol, released in 1984. It is a new wave and synth-pop song with elements of rock, pop, and electronic music. The song's lyrics describe a person who has lost his lover and is unable to find a new one, as he is haunted by her memory and is afraid of getting close to anyone else. The title "Eyes Without a Face" refers to the fact that the person feels like they are alone and lost without their lover. The lyrics describe the feelings of isolation, loneliness, and the inability to move on from the past. The song is a slow, haunting ballad, with a mournful melody that captures the melancholy and sadness of the lyrics. The music video for "Eyes Without a Face" is known for its dark, surreal imagery and was one of the first videos to feature special effects. The video features Idol wearing a white suit and mask, and is surrounded by mannequins and other strange objects. Overall, "Eyes Without a Face" is a haunting and emotional song that explores themes of loss, loneliness, and isolation. Its popularity has endured over the years, and it is often regarded as one of Billy Idol's most iconic songs.
Yes. Isolated and depressed just like the main character from the 1960 brilliant French film by Georges Franju EYES WITHOUT A FACE/ Les yeux sans visage
They rode cookie cutter 1,2,3,4, snappy beats. Same bass and percussion. They were usually musically basic but such inviting sing songy lyrics for all of us. This cut has a more artistic depth flavor than that pattern for sure but then you have Jack and Diane held together with finger snaps and a robotic guitar strum. ❤️ those 80's.
80's music, more than other eras, is an exploration of human emotion and thought through a world of fantasy, using abstract sounds, visuals and lyrics, like a dream brought to life. I think this is what makes it such an escape.
Gold dust has been sprinkled on an already glittering glam classic....this shows how special and relevant PSB still are....brilliant. Not many can cover a classic like this and make it sound so now.
This was the song that ruled my world as a fourteen year old. If anyone else feels this song invokes special interest, emotions, or even memories, please reply, I am very curious to find out how others were impacted by this song.
The funny thing is, I wasn't into this song so much when it came out. My brother and I liked White Wedding and Rebel Yell. Now, this is my favorite Billy Idol song- life experience, I guess. :)
I was sitting alone in digital design class, working and catching up on missing assignments while listening to a random playlist. I was concentrated on my work till the intro bass snapped me out my zone. It was hypnotic. Hearing this song in a empty quiet classroom felt like being in a music video.
Me and my grandpa used to go on roadtrips, this was one of the songs he would play. He sadly died due to colon cancer last year. Since then whenever theres a certain weather or a certain day, i would leave home without permission just to bike my way over to some places we used to go to. I just turned 14 on sunday

As a guy who was born in 98.. Beautiful songs like these give me nostalgic vibes and a feeling like I was born in the wrong time. There is just something different about 80s-90s music, cars, fashion and life in general. I dont think life was easy back then but I feel like people in general were happier. People at the parties were dancing and having a good time with eachother. Nowadays everything is so modern, people are in their phones 24/7, technology runs everything, people are so materialistic and do things for attention, social media and others approval. Maybe I am just too young and ungrateful but I wouldve liked to experience that.

Lyrics: | "Eyes Without A Face" - Billy Idol. |
I'm all out of hope
One more bad break
Could bring a fall
When I'm far from home
Don't call me on the phone
To tell me you're alone
It's easy to deceive
It's easy to tease
But hard to get release
(Les yeux sans visage) eyes without a face
(Les yeux sans visage) eyes without a face
(Les yeux sans visage) eyes without a face
Got no human grace
You're eyes without a face
I spend so much time
Believing all the lies
To keep the dream alive
Now it makes me sad
It makes me mad at truth
For loving what was you
(Les yeux sans visage) eyes without a face
(Les yeux sans visage) eyes without a face
(Les yeux sans visage) eyes without a face
Got no human grace
You're eyes without a face
When you hear the music, you make a dip
Into someone else's pocket, then make a slip
Steal a car and go to Las Vegas
Oh, the gigolo pool
Hanging out by the state line
Turning holy water into wine
Drinking it down, oh
I'm on a bus on a psychedelic trip
Reading murder books, trying to stay hip
I'm thinking of you and you're out there, so
Say your prayers
Say your prayers
Say your prayers
Now I close my eyes
And I wonder why
I don't despise
Now all I can do
Is love what was once
So alive and new
But it's gone from your eyes
I'd better realize
(Les yeux sans visage) eyes without a face
(Les yeux sans visage) eyes without a face
(Les yeux sans visage) eyes without a face
Got no human grace
You're eyes without a face
Such a human waste
You're eyes without a face
And now it's getting worse. END.

Agree. I never get tired of it.
Sorry for your loss

One of the greatest songs of all time.
Billy's level of energy was always high up there in every performance.
yes, and those piercing blue eyes and perfect white teeth and blond crew-cut.
Demonic energy with fire circled around him in the video!!!

It was also a time of growing inequity. Inequity the the punk movement was writing about while most mainsteam acts shilled on behalf of inequity.
@@Keepingitreal815 Post "Golden Years". These were the children from the 50's, 60's and 70's that led to their success. America was an Icon to the whole World then. Stardard of living was great. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Yes summer 1984 a keg party at my complex in Houston TX. Wow 👌
"I spend so much time believing all the lies to keep the dream alive." Any person trying to stay optimistic out there can relate to this line.

The 80s was just an unbelievable decade for music. The pinnacle of its art, vocals, musicality, video! Unreal
People today cannot understand it. Yet at the same time, they are intuitively trying to compete with it, and to annihilate the 80s. It leaves visible and invisible impact that each future decade has severely tried to ignore and defeat.

Hi I Recommend a song I came across called 'The Bond Villain' by Robert Nix
I heard this song half drunk at a party and had no clue what it was for 2 years. For 2 WHOLE YEARS I had the melody in my head, and every so often I'd hum or whistle it to anyone I thought might know it, no luck. Then out of nowhere I was whistling it at work one day, and my supervisor happened to be walking by and he was like, "Billy Idol?" I wasn't sure, and neither was he, but a google search of "Billy Idol french song" later and boom, one of my favorite songs ever since. Thanks, Randy!
PERFECT! It’s like accidentally meeting the love of your life! 🤣
Next time don't get drunk. Then you will know the name of the song. (Ha ha ha! Just kidding, bro!)

This song about his battle with cocaine addiction. Nothing about love
Yeah, everyone. it's life. What you saw was your own expectation. look deeper next time. They're all the same eyes.

Well said. Very emotional when you're feeling isolated and depressed

There's something about 80's songs that just make me happy for no reason, I didn't live in that era but it's so nostalgic that it makes me miss it
They rode cookie cutter 1,2,3,4, snappy beats. Same bass and percussion. They were usually musically basic but such inviting sing songy lyrics for all of us.
This cut has a more artistic depth flavor than that pattern for sure but then you have Jack and Diane held together with finger snaps and a robotic guitar strum. ❤️ those 80's.
I did you missed all the magic x
80's music, more than other eras, is an exploration of human emotion and thought through a world of fantasy, using abstract sounds, visuals and lyrics, like a dream brought to life. I think this is what makes it such an escape.

There is just something different about 80s-90s music, cars, fashion and life in general. I dont think life was easy back then but I feel like people in general were happier.
