Bendiciones Becky!🙏🙌😘🙌🙌

Sad fact: Drummer Paul Hester who played drums in this song, committed suicide on March 26, 2005 after going through 4 years of ongoing depression. May he rest in peace forever. His dream may be over, but this song won't.
I would like to add that I feel a real Todd Rundgren vibe in this song and I mean that as a total compliment. The melodic quality in this song is superb, and something I have always appreciated.
I love this song so much. I was 30 years old when it came out. Every time I hear it, I’m magically transported back to that era. I don’t regret being my present age. In fact, I’m happy to have lived during that great time for music. I saw Crowded House live in Pittsburgh in the early 90s. When they played “Don’t Dream It’s Over,” it was absolutely perfect. That band was meant to mesh with its special moment in time.
Lyrics: "Don't Dream It's Over" - Crowded House. There is freedom within There is freedom without Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup There's a battle ahead Many battles are lost But you'll never see the end of the road While you're traveling with me Hey now, hey now Don't dream it's over Hey now, hey now When the world comes in They come, they come To build a wall between us We know that they won't win Now I'm towing my car There's a hole in the roof My possessions are causing me suspicion but there's no proof In the paper today Tales of war and of waste But you turn right over to the T.V. page Hey now, hey now Don't dream it's over Hey now, hey now When the world comes in They come, they come To build a wall between us We know they won't win Now I'm walking again To the beat of a drum And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart Only shadows ahead Barely clearing the roof Get to know the feeling of liberation and release Hey now, hey now Don't dream it's over Hey now, hey now When the world comes in They come, they come To build a wall between us We know they won't win... Dont let them win... END.

The romanticism, longing and nostalgia for the decade of the 80's is indescribable, such a brilliant and glamorous time is unrepeatable, how those sublime times are missed!
I was born in 1968. The .70's were a Happier vibe. The 80's were Deep. Had a lot of depressing songs. And a lot of great tunes. Then 1st January 1990 came great music died. 90's drug computer music no bands like the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's. Forty years of great music. Then the boybands of the early 2000's, the tunes good but not as good as the other decade's. Now all I see on 80's music tunes videos are comments saying, I wish I grew up in the 80's as music this last 10 years is crap.
@@cornet959 it didn't happen overnight on the 1st of January 1990, there are plenty of great songs from early 90's where you still can feel that 80's vibe, the decline was happening gradually and by 93/94 that wonderful magic of 80's was gone

@@MichelleNorman-r1qit’s a long story but basically they were both abused by their parents in every way you can be abused, erik was being sexually abused by their dad from the age of 6 and at the age of 18 he told his brother about it, lyle confronted his dad and he basically to them said he had to kill them now, or at least that is how they interpreted it from their point of view (being severely isolated and not seeing any other way out) they bought guns, a few days later they believed it was time their parents were going to kill them so they got their guns and killed them because they truly believed their lives were at stake, now this is a very simple version but I hope u get the idea lol

This song never gets old. It gave me a breath of fresh air while stuck in the Central American jungles back in the 80s. I had an old portable radio and I picked up this song. Kudos to the writer and a hug to the one who took his own life. Never do it. There’s always that light at the end of the tunnel. You may not see it, but it’s there. I never saw that ray of hope. But decided to stick around for the ride and haven’t regretted it in spite of the hopelessness that besets me daily. I’m still here. Don’t do it. Stick around, no matter how dismal things look. Life is short as it is. Stick around, ok? I’m glad that I did. So are my kids and whoever I’ve met. But even if I’ve not had kids, the ride has been a mix of both good and bad. Even after a divorce, I stuck it out. Stick around. You may help others. You never who you will touch.

That is so terribly tragic Mike --- but she hasn't left you -- her spirit is still with you and you will see her again one day. I am SO sorry for your loss x
What a lovely band. Neil has such a beautiful voice. This takes me back to carefree times in the 80s. My brother (RIP) who didn't usually like my taste in music used to sing this one out loud. Hearing this song brings him back to me for 3 minutes 59 seconds.
It's such a melancholy track as well, that has to be so bittersweet for you. I've got a few songs I cant even listen to anymore (Somewhere Only We Know by Keane for example) because of what they trigger. If that song comes on the radio when I'm driving the tears come so fast I literally cant see where I'm going!

“Don’t let them win” 💪🏾💯
Lyrics: "Don't Dream It's Over" - Crowded House.
There is freedom within
There is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There's a battle ahead
Many battles are lost
But you'll never see the end of the road
While you're traveling with me
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know that they won't win
Now I'm towing my car
There's a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion
but there's no proof
In the paper today
Tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the T.V. page
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win
Now I'm walking again
To the beat of a drum
And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only shadows ahead
Barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and release
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win...
Dont let them win... END.

I totally agree and said those words to someone recently. It was a special time for music which will never be matched or come again.
The romanticism, longing and nostalgia for the decade of the 80's is indescribable, such a brilliant and glamorous time is unrepeatable, how those sublime times are missed!
You hit the nail on its head. 👍🙂
Hell yeah man! Best decade ever.

I sat on my bed with my back against the headbed/bookshelf pouring over a school book ... My twin sister in the next bed doing the same- we have bio/history/whatever test the next day ... This song came on the radio and we put our book down, looked at each other, grinned, and time stopped as we got lost in the tune ... There's nothing I wouldn't give to see her again ..
This song reminds me of a late warm summer afternoon in the mid 80's, sitting at our table building a model airplane. The windows were open, and it was just a good day. This song came on and I was just a happy teen without a care in the world. What a good memory.
What year?
Thank you for sharing that, it brought a smile to my sad face.

I agree. I was a junior in highschool. Life was so much better then than now. When all our grandparents were alive and the world was vibrant. I've told my daughters to take in as much as they can now because it doesn't last long.
Why would you build a model airplane when you can fly a drone?
anyone December 2024??
NO🤬
Yes!!!! ❤❤❤
RIP to my mother who passed away Jan.5/2020. Songs like this from my childhood bring her back to mind when things were easier. I was lucky to have her as a teacher twice growing up💜 Those memories are always a gift to remember. We love you mom RIP
So sorry for your loss. I lost my mom also in Jan. 2020. I still haven't been able to accept she's gone. I miss her so much every single day! 😢💔
RIP to your Mother
@@lizettemendoza9242 my heart breaks for you and Justin, both😭
But you must remember, we all have to die...
... The nature of death is tied directly to the sanctity of life...
... We are precious because we are fleeting; running away from life, the moment we are born.
Yet, our Mothers' are immortal, as long as they can live through our memories, they will be ever lasting
The only objective sense for eternal life...
I think I'll call my Mom right now😊, and tell her how much I love her. For all I know, it may be the last time I get to tell her...
Justin, I am sorry about your mom. My husband lost his mother 5 years ago and I lost mine 27 years. You really don't get over that, but you will get better and never forget your mom she sounds like a very loving and wonderful person. Take care man Bye
I'm so sorry, Justin. :( Sending many hugs
Close your eyes, listen to this song, and imagine your self back in the 80s twenty something yrs old.
That’s deep, you might make my mother cry.
oh yes.. 🤔👍
This from the mid-90s tho.
@@simonmorris746 "Don't Dream It's Over" is a song by the Australian rock band Crowded House, recorded for their 1986 self-titled debut studio album.
In '86 I was 26. So many great songs from that era of my life too!
Ele está no braços do pai
I’m sorry for the loss of your son. :(
Q bom
😢🕊️
That's so lovely you found your dear sons favourite song I'm sure he's happy
The 80s! What an era to be alive in, the best, no, the greatest memories I have are from the 80s.. nothing like it.. everything seemed so innocent, unique, and you could be anyone you wanted, but be adventurous, romantic, exciting, emotional, larger than life, quiet as a church during prayer.. everything was just so pure, and innocent, well for me it was..
I hear these songs, and they make me cry, because the dream IS over- everything just became incredibly sad, and sadder, going forward. I miss the 80s
There is freedom within
There is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There's a battle ahead
Many battles are lost
But you'll never see the end of the road
While you're traveling with me
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know that they won't win
Now I'm towing my car
There's a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion
but there's no proof
In the paper today
Tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the T.V. page
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win
Now I'm walking again
To the beat of a drum
And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only shadows ahead
Barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and release
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win...
Dont let them win...
Many thanks for posting the lyrics

I remember as a 16 year old - going to the record shop during my lunch break to purchase this track and another (Wonderful Life by Black). Now as a 52 year old I still remember that day, the weather, my walk to the shop and what I was wearing that day. It's amazing how songs brings such thoughts and memories - decades on.
Yess
Id loved to been there with u...im 39...been my fav song ever since the first time i heard it...the way he sings each verse relaxes me so much
I have one similar memory from 1995. I was a junior in H.S, listening to music, the sun shining on me on my front porch. I lived with my parents still. I said to myself, I will always remember this moment and day. Everything was perfect, the weather and life. I always to this day think about that exact time and miss it greatly.
Memories, thank goodness for them.
Yes 💯!! How the hell is it possible to know all the words to a song you haven't heard in 20 yrs but can't remember what happened 2 weeks ago? Lol 🤣
