In 2000, My Dad was terminally ill with lung cancer. One day we'd been out for a drive and I was taking him back to the hospice and I had this playing on a tape in the car. He'd never heard it before but he listened several times and absolutely loved it. I had it played at his funeral, very moving. I've only recently been able to listen it again....
I was watching this video, which I adore, and watching Neil look over with so much love at his son, who is playing the echoey fill guitar here, and I was imagining Neil having a few words with the audience, about telling your family members just how much you love them, and encouraging the audience to do the same. Especially parents and children. And I was thinking about my 28 year old daughter, who I told just this morning how much I care about her, and how wonderful I think she is. Then I read your comment. Something going on here. Peace and love.
My Dad also died of lung cancer, in his early 50's (myself in my early 20's at the time). This song randomly played in a cafe recently and I was transported back to our old home and his cassette copy of this album, that would often be playing. A bittersweet mixture of sadness and loving memories.

God bless the 80’s when I was 15 to 25 years old and I enjoyed every single year with My Mother, Father, and only Brother that are All dead now but They live in My Mind . This is one of My favorite songs. Thanks to Casey Cason and American Top 40’s every Saturday afternoon where I was very into Music and also Mtv because wasn’t Internet yet and the Teenagers watch Videos, go to Disco Parties, Discotheque Clubs, and Concerts here in Puerto Rico even been under 18 years old. The Decade from 1980 to 1990 was the Best Years of all kind of Music from the Best Artists. The new Music cannot compare to My 80’s Music.
i’m so happy glastonbury is back and this is the first song that i hear from the show. looking forward to hear more from artists that i’ve never known before and want to find out more about their music.
The very definition of every 80's band we grew to know some 43 years ago, comprised of several meaningful intros, verses, every one of them different. Memorable choruses and catchy bridges. Lyrics that are never forgotten till this day. In another 30 to 40 years who's going to remember Cardi B, Doja Cat and a list that can go on.... 80's music will always be an era where people will remember a time and place where they heard a song, related it to a time in their lives and still to this day these legends of their time still evoke that sense of nostalgia in us all.
There is freedom within There is freedom without Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup There's a battle ahead Many battles are lost But you'll never see the end of the road While you're travelling with me … Hey now, hey now Don't dream it's over Hey now, hey now When the world comes in They come, they come To build a wall between us We know they won't win … Now I'm towing my car There's a hole in the roof My possessions are causing me suspicion But there's no proof In the paper today Tales of war and of waste But you turn right over to the TV page … Hey now, hey now Don't dream it's over Hey now, hey now When the world comes in They come, they come To build a wall between us We know they won't win … Now I'm walking again To the beat of a drum And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart Only shadows ahead Barely clearing the roof Get to know the feeling of liberation and release … Hey now, hey now Don't dream it's over Hey now, hey now When the world comes in They come, they come To build a wall between us You know they won't win … Don't let them win (Hey now, hey now) Hey now, hey now Hey now, hey now Don't let them win (They come, they come) Don't let them win (Hey now, hey now), yeah Hey now, hey now

Neil Finn is a bloody treasure...this is music kids...One of the greatest songs ever, by one of the greatest ever singer/songwriters. I remember listening to this for the first time as a 17yr old in Marton, NZ in '86 and thinking this song could be anything....and it was....
Absolutely 👍
Paul Carrack is easily the most underrated singer in history.
No autotune, no tone shift, no computer....
...That's the way a Masterpiece should be done and played
Great lyrics and melody . That's why NEVER obsolete
Anyone else is playing this amazing song right now? 💯👌🏼
Yes, and going to see them live in St Augustine on Aug 29th
@@eduardoduenas1440 yes I did Wkarma Radio uncensored and unformatted on RUclips Facebook messenger and Instagram under indyactressdj 2023 for great music of all kinds , we'd lose to have you ❤️
Hey, I am learning to play this on guitar, and sing it my way for some future busking. I love the way it makes me feel, heal, while I sing it. Such an amazing composition.

i dont think we give these guys enough credit! they sound amazing for having performed this song for so many years. over a decade ago and he still has such an amazing voice
Lol..WTF?
So beautiful, so sweet, always good to hear them go for the original detail
Crowded House is absolutly stunning. For me this song is a masterpiece.
Neil Finn has such a distinct and clear voice it’s sooooo incredibly uplifting and soothing, you can always pick it out of the crowd of even the Greats 👍👍👍
Definitely one of those 80s songs that hits with an overwhelmingly bittersweet sense of nostalgia, yet somehow feels like a warm hug. A perplexing dichotomy
Damn ! The Finn Bro's just age like a fine wine, they are impeccable musicians that have brought it for us fans for over 40 years. This is amazing.
Yep, they still fine🙌🏽 with beautiful music❤
@@pmoorepmkmoore3377 You said it. I have all of split enz discography and of course crowded house. One of my all time faves is the lesser known "dirty creatures" by split enz.
I agree they sound the same as they did all those years ago
@@bornflippy1 Oh i feel you on that one, even going back to the split enz days they were rocking, pure gems 🥰.
@@bornflippy1 yes one of my faves by split enz, I had the enz of an era best of cassette from 1982 which featured dirty creature, and last time I was in Australia in 1989 I saw split enz/crowded house live at darling harbour in Sydney, great memories 😊🇳🇿🇦🇺🎸
It's beautiful to see so many young people loving this song..an example of a great song 😊..brings back so many memories ❤
Lol..Why shouldn't they? Music knows NO age
Amigos isso não é só uma linda canção isso é uma obra de arte dos anos 80❤
They still sound as great as ever❤❤❤
Hang in there and know they are ALL WITH YOU in spirit EVERY DAY
@@BAKER22-l4u Stay strong. I lost my parents in the last 3 years. Got to stay spirited!
God bless you. I’ve lost my parents and my only son. Thank God for music.
Que Dios me los bendiga a todos ustedes 🙏 sean fuertes que se viene lo mejor ❤
Wonderful. Crowded House - Kiwi and Aussie band. Brilliant. Clean. Iconic.
Semplicemente meravigliosa canzone senza tempo ❤❤❤
i’m so happy glastonbury is back and this is the first song that i hear from the show. looking forward to hear more from artists that i’ve never known before and want to find out more about their music.
One of the most talented musicians to ever grace this Earth. He has been putting out hit after hit for more than 40 years.
Thank you for the love, thank you for being so amazing.
Very, very well said
This song will be played in 200 years, an absolute thing of joy! Thank u Neil 👌
That's song don't have age. 👌😀
Lol..Actually it WON'T, because the world will BE GONE long before then..
I get waves and waves of goosebumps, this brings back so many memories
Long live Crowded House .. love 💕 from Australia!
It’s so beautiful when the crowd sings along.
It gives me chills!!
Now that’s a voice! All these years and it’s just as good now as it was then… beyond rare!
There is freedom within
There is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There's a battle ahead
Many battles are lost
But you'll never see the end of the road
While you're travelling with me
… Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win
… Now I'm towing my car
There's a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion
But there's no proof
In the paper today
Tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the TV page
… Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win
… Now I'm walking again
To the beat of a drum
And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only shadows ahead
Barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and release
… Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
You know they won't win
… Don't let them win (Hey now, hey now)
Hey now, hey now
Hey now, hey now
Don't let them win (They come, they come)
Don't let them win (Hey now, hey now), yeah
Hey now, hey now
Inspiring words...especially now in the States.

Pure melody this 80s musicians played with their hearts bro. that's why this incredible music never die 🎸🎶🎵😄👌
I came looking for original and to see them play at Glastonbury is beyond wildest dreams
Their performance, pure class act and his voice is still as I remember from the radio when I was little 😍
Wow he is one of the few singers from the 80’s that still sounds great
They sound absolutely amazing still. The sounds are beautifully overwhelming!
One of the best ever. Undoubtedly.
