20 years ago, I was a little depressed child who only wanted to hide from the world. I found this song in a festival like this, that it was televised in my country for some reason. I didn't even speak English, I couldn't understand the lyrics, but I thought that the song was so beautiful, and it made my heart beat faster. I wanted to learn English to know what they were singing about. This song helped me in my teenage years when everything was chaotic.
Now that I'm in my thirties, this song still helps me when living just feels like too much. Thank you for everything, Keane ♡

Keane.
A beautiful melody and even more beautiful lyrics.

This was my first year attending Glastonbury as a volunteer rather than a customer. Due to my shifts Keane were my Saturday headliner. First saw them supporting Travis around the time Hoped and Fears was realised. I don't mind admitting that this was the song that caused me to have my Glasto Cry. When he sang "I walked across an empty land, I knew the pathway like the back of my hand" it really hit me. I know Glastonbury festival so well and as I was on site early, I did walk across an empty land, knowing the pathway like the back of my hand. I have always loved this song but this time it just hit me in a way it never had before.

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on
So, tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on
So, tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So, why don't we go somewhere only we know?
    Somewhere only we know
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?

It seems only the blink of an eye ago I was sat in my sister’s room with a friend who I’d met whilst travelling in South East Asia. I was 20 - just a baby and now I’m 40 and I have no idea how twenty years have passed.
And how much simpler life was back then. O simple thing - where have you gone?
Life is so short. It really is such a short trip we take.

We are all important. Young, old, rich or poor. Everyone hurting, you are here with us.. us are here with you. Tomorrow is a new day, get there. There are people who care about you, remember that. No matter how much you are hurting, how much pain you have, time will heal. Don't give in, Don't ever give up, a bright day is right around the corner. All it takes is belief that it is there... Love you all

The lead singer is a lovely fella,he and the band truly appreciate the fans and are genuinely so grateful to have so many listening to their music. They played Dublin a few months ago and went over time due to thanking the audience and said how much it meant to them having us at it. They really are a great band, humble, and no arrogance!

I agree. And for those who mock at him because they don't believe it, well, do some research, watch old performances and documentaries, and you ll see more than once that there was something wrong with him. And just because it was not noticeable all the time does not mean it s not true.
