My Dad loves the Pet Shop Boys. He's 76 this year. In an argument once, I asked him what he really wanted in life. He said all he wanted to do was sit in his own house and listen to Pet Shop Boys at 3 in the morning with a glass of Port. He played this one in the car once so loud the vehicle was vibrating and he was shouting the lyrics at the top of his voice, windows open going 70 down the motorway. I love my Dad.
Now HE sounds like an awesome dad. My Dad didn't go that far, but he was always cool with listening to music I liked, even if he didn't like it. When I was a teenager (back in the 90s) we'd be driving down the highway with Slayer going at top volume, and he'd at least act like he was having fun. I think he was in some ways, because he was spending time with his son, and I think that is what was important to him really.
Best way to start 2024 is to go back to the sheer joy of having lived in the days when songs like this one were given to us! Thank you, love and light to everyone out there relishing this as well!

27 years ago I sent my mom to buy me a backstreet boys tape cassette. She came back with pet shop boys 😂 i was 7 yo back then. I am a fan till now ;) ❤
Pet Shop Boys are second to Queen, in all time greatness. So many timeless classics. I'll list them... It's a Sin, Heart, Left to my own devices, I want a Dog, Always on my mind, Rent, West End Girls, Suburbia. No better way to spend an hour than to listen to them all !
I'm 50 years old and I don't regret anything! I've had the privilege of enjoying all this wonderful music since the 70s. I've lived through every stage: from record to cassette, from CD to MP3. I've witnessed the incredible evolution of music, and I've enjoyed every moment.
One of the first songs by Petshop Boys that I heard. After West End Girls, this was the second one I heard. Yes, I remember, because everything about the 80s was the music and great entertainment. This group made so many memories for me, my personal life, loved them then and love their music still. Makes me remember things, nostalgic feeling and great feeling it is. Time to go back and revisit it through music over and over. Thank you for great memories.
IT'S A SIN, to dislike this awesome masterpiece of the 80's... I don't want to be a sinner!!! 😄 I love it - happy to hear it after so many years....😍😘😍
“Actually” was the only cassette we had in a car on our 6 hour long trip to the seaside in 1989 or 1990. I was 9 years old. The cassette just kept on spinning for those 6 hours and my parents never complained. I had such wild imagination listening to this album. Amazing memory.
totalmente de acuerdo!!! of course, I agree!!! es una cancion ATEMPORAL. un clasico. vivan los 80!!! God take care of us, about the regueton, it's a really shit. sorry, i don't speak english

This song meant so much to me when I was coming out in Denver Colorado in 1990. Let me tell you the lyrics and powerful composition of this track blasting in my car as I drove over icy streets and highways to the bars and warehouses housing the dance clubs in parts of town that nobody would be caught dead in helped me get through this period.
A duet whose music accompanied me in many stages of my life. I recently saw them live during a concert and I couldn't believe it, it was like a dream come true. Long live the Pet Shop Boy.
I have always loved pet shop boys even when I was a headbanger. I'm 48 years old and I still jam them. His voice takes me to a place above the earth. A place where I can just see highlights of the past flashing from scene to scene in my mind. It's beautiful and I love it. Thank you pet shop boys
“Having been brought up as a Catholic, you thought everything was a sin. You were told that thinking about it was as bad as doing it”, claimed Neil Tennant. Authored by Pet Shop Boys (PSB) Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, “It’s a Sin” reflects a justifiable antagonistic view of the Church. That generated ample controversy, but earned the boys massive attention and made the track a huge hit. The piece was originally conceived in 1982. Lowe played some chords which sounded hymnal to Tennant’s ear. “It’s a, it’s a, it’s a sin” came up spontaneously, and the inspired lyricist completed the entire text in just a few minutes. The ending stanza, uttered in Latin, can be loosely translated as follows : “Father, my Father, please forgive me for I have sinned. It’s my fault, it’s my fault, it’s my own fault”. The PSB were accused of plagiarizing the melody from Cat Stevens’ 1971 “Wild World”, but they finally won the lawsuit. Noteworthy : The famous “rebels” DONATED their out-of-court damages to CHARITY. Good deed, guys! A pre-recorded cover performance by Elton John and Years & Years aired as part of the 2021 Brit Awards on 11 May 2021, some 34 years after the hitsong’s first release (1987). ❤️✝️❤️
This song perfectly reflects being raised Catholic, and being forced into Catholic school. I wasn't raised this way at all, but I can still feel that pain in the song. To say it's a well done criticism of the church wouldn't be giving it enough credit.
@Raven Cuzzort I could not agree more, having been a student at a Catholic school for three - too long - years. It literally lead me away from “the Church”. The lyrics are so much more than mere criticism. They are an eye-opening/insightful/significant/cardinal STATEMENT. School kids do not need to be taught fear. And as the saying goes, [the so-called] SIN IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER, right?

When I look back upon my life
it’s always with a sense of shame
I’ve always been the one to blame
For everything I long to do
no matter when or where or who
has one thing in common too
It’s a, it’s a, it’s a, it’s a sin
It’s a sin
Everything I’ve ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place I’ve ever been
Everywhere I’m going to
It’s a sin
At school they taught me how to be
so pure in thought and word and deed
They didn’t quite succeed
For everything I long to do
no matter when or where or who
has one thing in common too
It’s a, it’s a, it’s a, it’s a sin
It’s a sin
Everything I’ve ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place I’ve ever been
Everywhere I’m going to
It’s a sin
Father forgive me
I tried not to do it
Turned over a new leaf
then tore right through it
Whatever you taught me
I didn’t believe it
Father you fought me
‘cause I didn’t care
and I still don’t understand
So I look back upon my life
forever with a sense of shame
I’ve always been the one to blame
For everything I long to do
no matter when or where or who
has one thing in common too
It’s a, it’s a, it’s a, it’s a sin

Everything I ever do
Every place I’ve ever been
Everywhere I’m going to I

Pet Shop Boys are second to Queen, in all time greatness. So many timeless classics. I'll list them... It's a Sin, Heart, Left to my own devices, I want a Dog, Always on my mind, Rent, West End Girls, Suburbia. No better way to spend an hour than to listen to them all !
...And I'm only now getting acquainted with songs like For your own Good, and Closer to Heaven.
My father's favourite song. He used to jam this back in his hey days. Still jams to it even to this day. Love you daddy ❤❤
Even if I am a 2000's kid, this is a song in my childhood. My father used to play these and I feel so nostalgic listening to this.
Same
Exactly same. And even though metal music is my favourite music, 80s pop just has something... ❤
Same here 2003 great song

This is from an era where music, movies and everything man created was an art!!! Amazing!!!
That's because people in the old times used to live in a hopeful and energetic world, but now there is no hope.
My favourite Pet Shop Boys song!!!
Epic, great, legendary. He has incredible energy! I would put it in the top 3 of the best synthpop songs ever. 👏👏👏

I'm 50 years old and I don't regret anything! I've had the privilege of enjoying all this wonderful music since the 70s. I've lived through every stage: from record to cassette, from CD to MP3. I've witnessed the incredible evolution of music, and I've enjoyed every moment.
one of the best things about 50 years old,is the fact that i lived my teenage years in the 80's that is priceless and i am grateful !!!
Correct buddy
Wish I did :( I’m born in 2006 so no one my age likes this music :/
this song reflects how I felt back then , and trying to break out from what you are supposed to do .
Lucky chap
Great times
One of the first songs by Petshop Boys that I heard. After West End Girls, this was the second one I heard. Yes, I remember, because everything about the 80s was the music and great entertainment. This group made so many memories for me, my personal life, loved them then and love their music still. Makes me remember things, nostalgic feeling and great feeling it is. Time to go back and revisit it through music over and over. Thank you for great memories.
They were nostalgic then, O always felt there music and lyrics in my guts, they really are timeless.

“Actually” was the only cassette we had in a car on our 6 hour long trip to the seaside in 1989 or 1990. I was 9 years old. The cassette just kept on spinning for those 6 hours and my parents never complained. I had such wild imagination listening to this album. Amazing memory.

When I look back upon my life
It's always with a sense of shame
I've always been the one to blame
For everything I long to do
No matter when or where or who
Has one thing in common, too
It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin
It's a sin
Everything I've ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place I've ever been
Everywhere I'm going to
It's a sin
🎵🎶🎵🎶
At school they taught me how to be
So pure in thought and word and deed
They didn't quite succeed
For everything I long to do
No matter when or where or who
Has one thing in common, too
It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin
It's a sin
Everything I've ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place I've ever been
Everywhere I'm going to
It's a sin
🎵🎶🎵🎶
Father, forgive me
I tried not to do it
Turned over a new leaf
Then tore right through it
Whatever you taught me
I didn't believe it
Father, you fought me
'Cause I didn't care
And I still don't understand
(Still don't understand, yeah)
So I look back upon my life
Forever with a sense of shame
I've always been the one to blame
For everything I long to do
No matter when or where or who
Has one thing in common, too
It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin
It's a sin
Everything I've ever done (I've ever done)
Everything I ever do (I ever do)

This song is a gem. Best of the best.
Was it Colfax then as in 2000's too?
I’m glad you got through it
No. It was where Coors field is now standing. I did go to a few places on Colfax as well.
Thank you. Appreciate it.
I was a student when I first heard this song. Time has passed, but the feelings are the same.
40 anos e ainda curtindo mt isso!
A duet whose music accompanied me in many stages of my life. I recently saw them live during a concert and I couldn't believe it, it was like a dream come true. Long live the Pet Shop Boy.
A masterpiece, an anthem.

I have always loved pet shop boys even when I was a headbanger. I'm 48 years old and I still jam them. His voice takes me to a place above the earth. A place where I can just see highlights of the past flashing from scene to scene in my mind. It's beautiful and I love it. Thank you pet shop boys
Same! I'm 47 and right there with you.
