GT Auto in Riverside, CA wanted to charge me $996 to replace the low pressure fuel pump and fuel control module. I purchased the parts online for less than $100 and did the work myself in about 30 minutes.

Just did my mine on my mk5 gli and it was easy to get out and install the new one. Its very key to make sure you don't have a lot of gas in the gas tank. I had less then a quarter tank but it might be a lot easier to have less.
Thank goodness it is accessible. You could even change it yourself in the middle of the winter.

Like always, these videos are superb. Would this procedure be the same for a 2017 Golf Sportwagen 1.8t Gen 3? I'm having issues with the fuel level sender b having low circuit. I'm assuming its the reason I'm having the fuel gauge not operating/reading fuel level. Thanks for the help!

Hey, where is the charcoal canister located? I thought it would be right at the front on the passenger side but its not there. I have an 07 VW jetta GLI Farenheit

Did you use new seals or the old one? Does the new pump from you come with a new seal ? Car I’m working on is 2009 Jetta 2.5
+Neon diamonds Aquaberry If the seals are in good condition you can use those, if they are not you can pick them up locally. This will not come with new seal, it is just the assembly.
Is this relatively the same process to a 14 tdi sportwagen? I’ve read that you can get to the fuel pump from the back seat, just did the fuel filter and found metal flakes on top of the filter and in the bottom of the housing, I know this a common telltale sign of the hpfp failing and have been also experiencing issues correlating with fuel pump failure. The fuel filter was changed to inspect and hope to relive the car of its ailments to find the said issues

Did you change the fuel pump control module. My mechanic told me to change the fuel pump and fuel pump control module. He said they go out at about 150,000 miles. He said I was living on borrowed time.
08 gti mk5 can not start unless I turn on my key in ignition and leave it about 30 second then I can start and my rpm keeps up and down. Do I need a new pump?

Most likely. It seems VW has chosen this method for many cars in their lineup. My 2012 Jetta is like this too, thankfully. I can say it's one thing VW truly did right. Most cars require dropping the tank which is stupid considering this is an easy design to implement.
Same location for 2010 golf ?
My GTI 2013 didn’t want to start anymore, I checked the fuse box and #27 which is the fuel pump is burned. I tried putting a new one and it burned as well.
Do you think it’s the fuel pump or the control module?

Best to replace both while you're at it especially if you're at 150k or more. Otherwise you're likely to burn up some wires and on a car that uses a CAN bus type system it can wreak havoc on other devices sharing those wires. Unfortunately there could be other devices causing your problem but I imagine most likely it's one of the two.
I own a 2012 golf 6 gti.
My feul gauge works intermittent. When I put feul the gauge will work after a few km the needle will just drop back to empty. Sometimes when I switch the ignition on the feul gauge will work and after a few minutes it will drop to empty. What can be the reason for this

Is a good video, but the gas pressure relieve.how you gonna start your car?if supposedly you are replacing your pump because the pump doesn’t work and wont start.

Why would you start the car n let it die like that? There’s gotta be a better way to release the fuel pressure!
+creman12 Thanks for checking us out! There are other ways to alleviate the pressure, this one is the easiest for this application. Other applications may have a Schraeder valve that you can loosen and release pressure that way. 1aauto.com
