I was homeless and I had a good view of what is like to be on the streets. I can say 90% if not more of the people who are homeless do not want to get off the streets or atleast aren’t doing anything to change that. I didn’t sleep on private properties or on side walks. I didn’t beg for money or food. I did what I had to do to get a Job, get in shelter and was wise on how I got food and water. The city truly does not care about homelessness because guess what that is one’s responsibility however there’s resources that can help you get on your feet. The more the city enables these type of conditions the more acceptable it will become for people to live on the streets.

I feel you what you message. I was homeless for two and a half years after my place got burned down in Sandy springs. And I know that a lot of the people that was homeless want to stay homeless and make poor excuses. I had found a job like 2 months later. And I was using the homeless shelters to save more money so I won't be homeless again. So you right 90% of the people don't want to leave the streets all they want to do is complain and get free food cause they eat good homeless people eat better than the people in jail or prison. When they get their money on the 1st of the month they go get their high on then come back to the homeless shelters when there money is all spent. And do the same thing over again the next following month.
Sadly you can’t help people that refuse to help themselves. There are some legitimate super hard luck stories of people that end up on the streets homeless, but the vast majority are there due to poor life choices and unwillingness to do even the bare minimum to get off the streets or improve their circumstances. Mental illness is also a huge factor but comes down to chicken or the egg. It’s no joke that drugs literally rot your brain..,
Atlanta rent is too high a lot people in Atlanta play like they are rich you gotta be making at least 35 dollars a hour just for one bedroom cause you see these people with Audi, bmw, etc but don't want to help the homeless

Before all this gentrification and hippy buildings and out of towners Atlanta homeless people had places to go and programs to help. You rarely saw the homeless on the street. I don't see how people can be homeless in Georgia at all. They open and close restrooms all across the state at strange hours... Rest areas all vary from 9-5 or 8 o'clock am to 8 PM... Really! At 9 until 5 people are working and don't need a rest area... Been crazy for years with the restroom hours... They have Security cameras in use, so, why don't they leave the restrooms open 24/7 like ALL THE OTHER STATES DO...

I know every church is different - so are the people - but my congregation and myself would feel compelled to help whether it be helping to fill out housing/job applications, setting up a soup kitchen, etc. I understand that not everyone is willing to help themselves, but I couldn't in good conscience turn a blind eye to them and not try to save at least one life. That's just my opinion.
All homeless people should be processed, put in med. security facility, treated, de-toxed, trained, or institutionalized permanently if deemed mentally unfit. They are a threat to society and themselves, a health hazard, and in danger themselves from crime.. The cost to do all this would be cheaper in the long run than giving them social assistance which is just pissed away. Hard, unpopular decisions have to made to end the problem. Public health and security is more important than their rights. Poor houses worked in Victorian England.

Atlanta homeless shelters are not likes prison. All shelters has rules about drinking, smoking, drugs, cussing, cleanliness of their property and person, thrift, simple respectful behavior, no sexual activity on their property. They have 3,6,9,12, then permanent removal rules. A lot of people or their children fail to follow the rules and are then removed.
Homelessness is nothing. As long as the world exist homelessness will be here. As their are rich their has the be the opposite. Homelessness people have a lot of factors untreated mental illness, some uneducated some have giving up. By society standards they are poor and frowned upon but they choose to no longer fight this rat race of a world … all the expenses that are on this earth they chose to forgo it so In a sense they are richer than a lot of us …

From 1995-til 2011 homeless most of that time lived and paid my own rent for a while then I went on Peachtree n pine no not in the Shelton because life was plenty out there had a crack habit real bad so pine was where it went down 24 /7 I smoke my back to my stomach not bragging shame of my self it I love the high until my man said he was leaving Atl. and going home I said Bye🖐️✋🖐️✋there was no way I was going to another State with my habits OMGOD NO went to rehab got my life clean n together pack my bags and move to where I am today 10yrs clean....WANT HE DO IT YES GOD WILL.♥️❤️♥️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

They only think how to get their next fentanyl pill to smoke, and many of them will die from fentanyl overdose anyway. So then, what is the point of moving them?

Govt never has affordable housing or jobs for the homeless.... I've applied for over 60 jobs and none of them are hiring yet saying they are... I got to leave GA this state suck like a lot of places third world... if its too black of a place they destroy those within it and move in those they love to have within the location.... NICE gentrification from early 2000's to now. You worked to keep these people poor so as to change the landscape to what it is now... they evicting people and realize they have nowhere to go so they placing them in prison to be free labor or even have a tougher time getting a job... build those new criminals ATL you going about it very well for an end to later come. In other words, Humans will destroy the world they know because it has nothing for a majority of them.

Atlanta homeless shelters are not likes prison. All shelters has rules about drinking, smoking, drugs, cussing, cleanliness of their property and person, thrift, simple respectful behavior, no sexual activity on their property. They have 3,6,9,12, then permanent removal rules. A lot of people or their children fail to follow the rules and are then removed.

Homelessness is nothing. As long as the world exist homelessness will be here. As their are rich their has the be the opposite. Homelessness people have a lot of factors untreated mental illness, some uneducated some have giving up. By society standards they are poor and frowned upon but they choose to no longer fight this rat race of a world … all the expenses that are on this earth they chose to forgo it so In a sense they are richer than a lot of us …
They don't want to go to the shelters because they have to follow the rules

I lived in Atlanta Ga. From 1995-til 2011 homeless most of that time lived and paid my own rent for a while then I went on Peachtree n pine no not in the Shelton because life was plenty out there had a crack habit real bad so pine was where it went down 24 /7 I smoke my back to my stomach not bragging shame of my self it I love the high until my man said he was leaving Atl. and going home I said Bye🖐️✋🖐️✋there was no way I was going to another State with my habits OMGOD NO went to rehab got my life clean n together pack my bags and move to where I am today 10yrs clean....WANT HE DO IT YES GOD WILL.♥️❤️♥️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

99% of homeless people are that way because of bad life choices,, more often than not drugs. I say give them one chance at getting their lives back on track, after that they are onn their own. Most don't want help and are too lazy to work.
